There is so much going on with Billy, Brett, and Dustin - not just the things we know, or think we know. They all have redeeming qualities, just the same as at certain times I could pick them up and shake them. They are all trying to find their way. It is certainly interesting, all the ups and downs, my sympathy for the characters moves around with the action - and there's a lot of action. One particular thing struck me; the dream Billy had about Dustin abusing him sexually. Just like Jerry Freemont said about himself - you can't put it all down to the drugs. The pain killers might induce bad dreams, but no way do they dictate the nature of those dreams. There is something inside Billy that makes him have a dream like that about Dustin.

To explain the boat trip - there is no road as such, but flat scrubland that leads towards the mountains. It's closer in distance by sea, but they could have driven there.

The devil is his creation and materialises his deepest thoughts and inner struggles.

If you've played Clash, they've made millions and millions from ppl buying in game (my partner is still spending on those games). They sold it to the Chinese for loads of dosh! It's the same for most games - nothing is really free - they use "free" to draw you in, but it always says "this game has in game purchases."

Emotional... made me think of those canine friends who spent their lives next to me, Rex, Oscar, Madi, and Ripley - yeah, we had a dog called Ripley (a Lurcher).

That is very true, although a lot of people are happy to live without seeking god, and even shy away from fundemental questions about life. I've always been plagued by proselytizing Jehovah Witnesses and the odd Mormon, so let me turn the tables for a change. God exists, it's who you are. Heaven and Hell exist, there here and now on earth. Take it or leave it, believe it or ignore. Won't make any difference. That's how it is. William

I relate to that. Spent years getting up at 5AM. Never liked Sunday evenings, because Moan-day followed, bringing with it a week of work. Grey skies a plenty in England and summer never comes! Looking on the brightside we put an end to that, and twenty years of hard labour, for a new life in a new country. Nice reflections

Just read the last three chapters. Brilliant! Great book, great characters... what can I say, love them all, like the new ones who come along, looking forward to the next book. You Geron are undeniably a great story teller. It will be interesting to see what Robbie brings to the party and if he might broaden perspectives. Brian thinks Robbie needs to be a guy to get a guy. I guess it's a shock to see a boy in make up and a wig, dressed as a girl!

I love your description and how you summarise it. There are clues, but as you say, not too many, and hardly enough to allow you to work out what's happening. It's quite a long journey and you probably will not understand the road you have been taken along until you reach the end. Hopefully that road has a certain beauty all of it's own which will keep you travelling.

It's exactly like that - dream like. Difficult to comprehend what is going on. What is real, what is not. Thanks for your comments Geron.

One of my favourites... watch it all, it's amazing!

In the 21st Century we do not need animals performing in circuses, Sea World, bull fighting, cock fighting, or any other cultural heritage that belongs in the dark ages. I leave zoos alone and trust that they might have a role to play, but I'll only accept horse racing and greyhound racing if they look after the animals when they get too old. Neither can I accept Rodeos, another cultural heritage we could do without. Being civilised surely means respecting all of God's creatures!

I just knew things would not end well. Very emotional, very real, it was captivating, really couldn't put it down!

I like Billy, but he's an asshole, he will probably break up with Brett when he gets confirmation that his boyfriend is getting stoned, or he might just realise he needs to do that to chill out and counter is hyperactivity. Billy thinks Dustin is a pussy, but he should take a long hard look at himself. He's kept Brett on tenterhooks for over a year, and couldn't quite bring himself to jerk off with Dustin, even though he wanted too. He talks about Mike like he's a pervert, which is hardly the case when Dustin is a willing partner. Does he really think Mike corrupted Dustin? It's hard to see a good outcome in all this, especially when I like all three of them, Billy, Brett, and Dustin.

Great chapter, great book. You give just enough info so we can guess what's going on, what's going to happen. Maybe, sometimes, you give too many hints, but that's okay, because there's no guarantee that you won't twist it all around to hit us with the unexpected. There are quite a few background stories going on and it's intriguing. Loved the paragraph in the previous chapter where Billy overheard Dustin and Mikey. You're one clever dude when it comes to telling a story and you certainly are a master at the craft of writing. Fabulous!

I can echo Headstall, a great chapter, and the near car crash had me holding my breath! Most countries in the world you have to be eighteen and an adult to get your driving licence, still doesn't mean young drivers aren't wreckless, but it's just amusing the difference with the US. Then in the states you got to be twenty one to drink a beer, in most of Europe it's eighteen, and in France there is no age limit for drinking, but you must be eighteen to buy beer... or wine!

Finally found time to catch up on the boys story and I'm enjoying it a lot. These first three chapters are well written. What is most amazing is the dialogue. You write each characters dialogue so well I feel like I'm right there with them.

I've just caught up reading the last three chapters. They were all good. That really was a great party, I only wish I could have been there for the boy meets boy meets girl sex in the corn field. But then again, I was! The way you write it just paints such a vivid picture. It's so well crafted, with great descriptive lines and little insights. I actually think this would make a great film.

As an author who publishes stories I'm interested in every comment and review, positive and negative. The likes are nice too. What this site lacks is any presentation of reader stats for it's writers, which is a shame. I would love to see something done with the page clicks to work out readership figures. It's obvious the total views is meaningless, the only real indication of numbers of readers is the minimum views for any one chapter, likely to be the closest approximation to how many people read the book. Booksie.com does much better on presenting readership graphs, but they make their author's pay for the detail. In the meantime using 'likes' to say I read it is maybe not a bad approach, but I kind of think 'likes' are really for saying 'I liked that chapter' and you can 'like' the whole book as well, without commenting or reviewing. I think I would carrying on writing no matter the responses, but those comments do have a huge impact for me, far more than you might think, it's simply sooooo good to get an acknowledgement.

I have never liked circuses with performing animals and I can only see it closing as a good thing. I'm sorry that it's a fond memory from your past disappearing, but I'm happy for the animals that will hopefully be found new homes. That no more wild creatures will be stolen from their natural environment and forced to live in cages, performing for the entertainment of humans, must be right.
