Saints, Sinners, and the Sucker in the Middle
Jeff Burton commented on Jeff Burton's story chapter in Saints, Sinners, and the Sucker in the Middle
I'll probably go back and fix that at some point. I did have trouble with this chapter and almost scrapped it to start completely over more than once. -

maybe when I'm all caught up I'll write a multi-book series on what my life could have been had I not screwed it up. -

lmfao @Topher Lydon that's my one regret. I never did anything in the backseat of anywhere. But my god an eye infection? Man what a memory lol. I have a 'what could have' been story I could write but I'd have to do a little autobiography work to set it up right. The truth of how I got there is pretty much worse then what i could do in fiction. -

Oh God. Let's do an episode of the long lost lover who everyone thinks died in some tragic unknown accident has returned. But it's not for love. He wants to buy controlling interest in Chuck's auto shops so he can have the family fortune of crucifixes and scented candles to himself. -

Jeff Burton commented on Jeff Burton's story chapter in Saints, Sinners, and the Sucker in the Middle
Yeah I'm really going to try this week to get some of the other stuff updated. I also have to get my "other" story done so I can actually publish it. -

I'm reading Carter's Army again because I read it last week and the nostalgia from the new story your working on now sent me on a nostalgia spiral. If either of those two ever die in story and there's a funeral, your going to have to write my ass in it because i'm going damnit. -

Chapter 5's is 😂 If I can get six done, and ready to post I may let ya'll have it tomorrow around the same time this one dropped. If not it'll be Monday, and probably make a couple of you late for work. (Again) -

Actually I have and I've been re-watching a few too. I wish I could cram in an embassy scene because I'd love to do the "GET OFF THE GRASS!" scene from The Princess Diaries. -

Saints, Sinners, and the Sucker in the Middle
Jeff Burton posted new chapter in I'm Gay: A Nifty Story
I’d seen enough exorcism movies to know it was bad when the air felt like it was about to shift. I’m not sure what I had been expecting, because there were no chants, no flickering candles, or a priest who looked more confident than he actually was. Instead it was just a gut-punch feeling that screamed shit’s about to hit. What I didn’t expect was to get body-slammed into a teen movie cliché, sprawled on the floor like a sacrifice to bad decisions. But there I was, rushing to third per- 64 comments

Honestly Krista, I totally get this. It's hard. I had to go through four versions of Chapter 4 before I felt it half assed at least maintained the vibe what came before it. So this story probably isn't going to be super long. My writing style typically as a whole does do the whole 'live for now' thing pretty much, I'm noticing with this one my character thought monologue's are getting better and I'm starting to use them to push things along like time itself. I envy ya'll that can do those large paragraphs of retrospection, so I'm trying to start adding a little bit of that to the mix. I think the majority of that has to do with the fact I write in the first person narrative which in itself can be difficult to do, because not only do you have to convey the narrator convincingly but you also have to be able to convey some of the thoughts and emotions of those around them which isn't always easy to do. In my story Encrypted I actually have to do third person narratives to explain what's going on outside the protagonists view, and to keep people from getting confused, I lock those to their own chapters. The way I write is definitely not easy. It's easier to work myself into traps if I'm not careful. But if your saying I'm able to pull it off, I'll go with it, and try to continue to craft it so every story is better than what came before it.

First of all, lmfao. Yeah I've got my online bro's trying to get me to get the game he's playing. Yeah Ryan's not totally hopeless. And Skylar did warn him about his mother so it's entirely possible he didn't flinch because he was expecting it. The thing with Madison, yeah not good. They sound like they are pretty toxic to each other. And there might be an underlying reason for it. People definitely didn't be in relationships because "it was a good idea at the time" or "it was a sound business transaction" because often it isn't. And I promise it wasn't me being sneaky. I finally have a version of Chapter 4 I'm happy with all that snark is hard to do. Chapter 5 is almost done. Looks like hopefully I'll be a couple of chapters ahead if I can keep myself from posting every single day. (yeah that won't happen.)

Poor Ezra. I'm not sure yet if I feel the urge to offer the same to Enrico, but the devil is in the details. As for David Miller, I had a feeling this was what was going to happen. That attack had a purpose and it wasn't terrorism, it's one hell of a way to get someone on a boat they otherwise shouldn't be on. And then we have Will and Andrew. Two boys not only destined to be together, but be together and actually make a difference. Crazy how life works sometimes.

Okay so, Chapter 4: "Saints, Sinners and the Sucker in the Middle" is done but I'm not happy with it yet and I don't know why. I'm already into chapter 5 because I figured I could just press on and come back to it. Also I blew the dust of Chapter 12 of Just Maybe and I've got a good start on Chapter 12 of Encrypted for some reason I hit midlife crisis on both stories despite I've got the planning done to carry both to the end, I'm not sure why those two specific chapters are giving me issues as well. I still have a 4th unpublished story Black Sun that's got Chapter 4 in progress as well but that story won't be published till it's 100% done. I'm also taking swings at the Anthology but so far I haven't found one that's stuck yet, but we'll see. I'd actually like to participate in one of those since the last time I tried was back in 2009. I do however wish my brain would complete one project before started 3 others but sadly that's not how it works. I'm just glad another idea hasn't popped while doing this one.

I had to do the same thing with "thirst trap" a couple of years ago. I'm mid forties myself so some of this is beyond my comprehension. A lot of it is over the top on purpose, I keep having to go back to urban dictionary to look stuff up, and my google search history is such a mess that if a government agency ever looked at it I'm sure their first thought would be "what the hell?"
