    Chapter 4

Hmmm... What is ol' Sean up to now? I'm wondering if maybe Parker is doing to Sean what Sean is doing to Devin? I liked the description of Sean's room. Like he's just waiting to graduate to get out of there. I was a little confused in a few places. What happened in the locker room that Devin is talking about at the beginning of the chapter? Also, Parker, and not Sean is the one who gets into his car and drives off. Besides that, good chapter! I'm curios to see what Sean has in mind next.

    Chapter 3

Another interesting chapter, now introducing a couple of classmates into the mix. Hard to believe Sean has friends at all, but Parker seems to have warm feelings toward him. I need to know a little more about Alex before I decide if I like him right now. I really like the paranoia that Devin feels at school. Every conversation just has to be about him. And of course, everybody knows he blew Sean. Typical teenage self-made drama, and I love it!

    Chapter 2

Nice chapter overall. A few minor grammatical issues, but nothing too distracting. I was surprised that Sean was willing to let Devin keep his clothes on while he was completely naked, and then not surprised that Sean would then want Devin to take his clothes off. A power play, no doubt. Also, interesting intro for Devin's dad. In only a few paragraphs I'm wondering what kind of issues he's going to present in this story.

    Chapter 1

Interesting beginning. Lots of ways the story can go. Is Sean a bully with a heart of gold? Will Sean out Devin and will poor Devin find himself dealing with more than he bargained for? And how did Sean know about Devin in the first place? Perhaps a little 'gay-dar' on Sean's part? Looking forward to reading more!
  5. The sky was getting dark far earlier than usual for a summer night. The air felt thick and full. Clouds were billowing higher and darker overhead. There was going to be one hell of a storm later that night. The sound of distant thunder made me quicken my step as I reached the crest of the hill. From this spot I’d be able to see the whole town come winter time. There was even a stump from a tree that Dustin had cut down that made a nice place to just sit and watch the world go by. But now
  6. Thanks Lisa! It's a lot of fun to write Brett. He's incredibly perceptive and has no filter, so if it's in his brain it's coming out of his mouth. I'm glad you're enjoying the ride! Thanks for the review!
  7. “I wish I had braces,” Brett sighed as he stretched out on my bed. “You can have ‘em,” I replied, slaying yet another elf on the video game we were playing. “I can’t stand having them.” I didn’t get the fascination he had for my metal mouth. He’d never have to worry about braces. His teeth were perfect. He’d never even had a cavity! We were hanging out at my place for the afternoon, even though it was brutally hot again. We could have gone to his place and had central air, but
  8. Lisa, the day that ruined his life was the day his grandma had the stroke, which Billy thinks is all his fault, because that's what he does. I'm glad you enjoyed the conversation between the "boy" and his dad. The calm before the storm!
  9. Thanks for the review, Lisa! I appreciate the kind words, and I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. -Jeff
  10. “William Aaron Roberts get your butt out of bed this instant!” It wasn’t until I heard the angry voice of my mother echoing down the hallway that I realized that I had forgotten to set my alarm clock. It was 9:15 and I was supposed to be at my grandma’s house at 9:00 to relieve mom for the morning. I jumped out of bed and slipped off my underwear from last night and quickly tried to gather my clothes for the day when mom opened my door. “Let’s go, Billy!” “Mom I’m naked in he
  11. If you can believe it, the heat of the day was even more unbearable after the sun went down. It was muggy and miserable inside and out. I had spent the evening at grandma’s house so mom could do a few chores and I had to go back in the morning because she had a hair appointment. But for the night, I was back in my own miserable home. There was one air conditioned room in our house, and it wasn’t mine. So I lay there in a puddle of my own sweat unable to sleep because my brain refused to shu

  13. Hey Stephen, Thanks for the review! You're quite right; typical 13-year-old boy = hates everything! I hope you'll enjoy the story. - Jeff
  14. As I was walking through Palmer Park, I saw some kids playing on the swings. My swings. At least they used to be. I had reached the age when it just wasn’t cool to be on the swings anymore. That’s the way life is when you’re thirteen. Everything you grew up loving you either hate or you can’t do because it’s not cool anymore. The swings had belonged to some other, older group of kids before me, and now they’d been taken over by younger kids whose names I didn’t know, but whose faces looked
