Chapter 9
Brady
“That’s cool Dad! Congratulations!!” Novy said with a mouthful of Cornflakes.
“Don’t…”
“What’s cool,” Mum asked as she sauntered into the dining room, followed by my brother Cameron. Mum sat down at the opposite end of the table to my Dad. Cameron walked to the buffet and made himself a coffee at the pod machine.
“…speak with your mouth full.” Thanks for letting me finish.
“Dad got a job,” my son spoke with his mouth full again.
It should happen soon, fingers crossed. Ember needs something to crack that armor and then I think things will start to change.
Now about Pix. I don't have a spare one to send you, but maybe we can work something out once the story is over. Saying that however the next story is already planned so I guess we'll have to wait and see if he's free.
Welcome, the chapter provided another side of Brady's folks, and of Ember. We only got the view Brady had of his parents, it was nice to see the caring side of his Mum. I think we all see our parents differently to the rest of the world it's only natural. Pix is a nickname, maybe we'll find out where it came from at some point. Thanks for your support as always JeffreyL, we appreciate it.
The man is going to crack eventually, I wonder what it will take for him to come around?
Kids would take to Pix in a flash, he has a way that puts people at ease I think. Nurses are heroes in my book, they work extremely hard and are always about the patient. They never seem to forget the families either, they provide a great support for loved ones with sick or injured family or friends.
I agree, I'd love to have a Pix of my own in life. Someone that is always glass half full, I'll bet he's loyal and the best friend anyone could ask for. Isn't it always the way, the supporting characters outshine the main ones lol. It's true in television too, but they always provide their worth when they are around.
Yeah his daughter who stayed in the city is at Uni, her name is Katie. She was the result of the graduation party fun. I hope you have a great weekend too.
John took pity on your poor eyes this week, no cliffhanger. He thought you could use the break. Little Ember will appear from time-to-time. She loves her Uncle Ember.
I'm sure it's just around the corner Terry P when we start to see the crumble of Ember's resolve and his denial shatters. Hang in there it's coming. Promise.
Pix is a cool guy, as long as people aren't fake I don't really care what they look like. I'd rather judge someone by how they treat others. I don't expect people to be perfect all the time but if they are generally decent I'm good with that.
I think it may take a few more before he catches on, he seems to be in some sort of denial. Thanks for reading Sam, John and I are glad you're enjoying the story.
Ember is nothing if stubborn, I think once he gets over himself he'll commit all the way or nothing at all. That doesn't mean to say it will be easy for him to decide. Thanks for your feedback FanLit and for reading the story.
I like you a lot. You have the best ideas. Hang on and I'll get one for you too. 🍷 There you go, oh screw it let's have two. 🍷 Ahhh! Now that's better.
Because apparently life is always fair. Pix does seem pretty cool, there's nothing more attractive than confidence in someone who is unapologetic for who they are.
I didn't even consider the little one, I apologize @droughtquake and thanks @Bft for answering the question. I'm going to jump in hole opening next to me and hide for a while. I guess Ember isn't the only one thick as two planks of wood.
Okay as far as I'm aware, I have never known anyone with the name November. The only two that I'm aware of are in this story. Did we mess up and indicate a third?
