I actually had a college course that pointed out this specific grammatical issue with lay versus lie. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thank you very much for your input on the first chapter. I love writing dialogue; however, it definitely could flow better, which I'm trying to enhance with my newer stories. I'm very glad to have someone of your nit-pickiness to comment on my story's grammar, which I'll continue to maintain as well as improve. Thanks again!

Unfortunately, this story is on-hold. I'm currently working on a new story that will also have mystery elements in a small town. I'll hopefully have the first part published within this month.

Thank you for the comment! This story will be on-hold as I'm working on a new story I hope to post on this site soon.

Very true! And if you don't know, the Beckie doll that Rick gifted Beth for her engagement party is a play on Barbie haha.
-
And don't forget those TSA agents haha!

The scar on Freddy's scar and his career as a police officer could be related. We'll see as the story continues. Gifting Gabby the marionette would make an awesome gift along with a CD of Freddy's songs. Hopefully, they look into that before the birthday party happens. 🙂

Freddy possibly taking out his frustrations on another group of people is an interesting theory. We'll see if he's a stand-up cop or a police officer who believes he's above the law. Thanks for commenting!

Thank you for telling me that very interesting story. I'm not surprised her parents named her Barbie; Filipinos have a tendency to give their children very unique names like MonCheri and Ma Consolacion which are the names of two of my aunts haha. Nicknames are also commonly used, my parents always calling me by my nickname. I don't remember a time when my parents ever called me by my birth name. Of course, this doesn't apply to every Filipino. Also my mother was completely different, moving to the United States to become a nurse and basically sent money back every week to the Philippines to support her family. She was overall a very hardworking, independent woman and still is even after meeting and marrying my father who was Filipino as well. Fun fact: ten percent of the Filipino population have worked abroad at some point in their lives.

Yes, fate definitely has a sense of humor when it comes to Rick and Freddy ending up in the same house, a place familiar to both of them because of their connection with Beth. And to answer your question, vegan burger aren’t Filipino haha. Considering the father is on a diet, these burgers seem like a dietary alternative. The chocolate meat or dinuguan actually tastes really good. You just have to overlook one of its main ingredients to enjoy it. Chicken adobo is also good, but I had it too many times ever since I was a kid, so I’m kind of tired of it. If I had to choose between the two, dinuguan all the way. 😛

Thanks! Freddy's ice-cold exterior is finally melting as he warms up to Rick who's more than just his sister's ex-boyfriend.
-
Thank you! Before Rick was just Beth's ex-boyfriend to Freddy and Freddy was just Beth's older brother to Rick; however, since they discovered they have certain talents that they can use together to entertain people, they're starting to bond despite their awkward connect with Beth. The birthday party might be the catalyst for something even greater between the two men, but we'll see.
-
Thank you! This collaboration might be the motivation that Freddy needs to continue his art.

Thank you for your comment! Like some people say, slow and steady wins the race. I don't know if that can be applied to relationships, but this approach seems to be working so far, and Freddy is becoming more open and friendly compared to the engagement party that happened only two days ago. Hopefully, the birthday party will boost their relationship even further and at a faster rate.

Yeah, Filipino pastries can be very interesting. For example, my mother has been eating a Filipino-style sponge cake called mamon that literally has shredded cheese on top haha. Other pastries are hopia which are similar to moon cakes and shortbread-like polvoron, both coming in a variety of flavors, which I enjoyed ever since I was a kid. There's even Filipino ice cream that also has shredded cheese mixed with an ube flavor, and it actually tastes really good haha. So, I'm not surprised there's a Filipino-style chiffon cake with guava. Thank you very much for sharing!

Yes, working together could be the motivation that Freddy needs to continue playing the guitar, and Rick is certainly benefiting from the partnership as well. Thanks always for commenting!

You're very welcome! Anybody can be a victim of domestic abuse regardless of gender, and it's unfortunate that male abuse victims are downplayed by society. And slowly but surely, Rick and Freddy are getting closer and hopefully partnering together to entertain kids at a birthday party will only bond them further. 😊

Despite the lack of air conditioning, I still got another restful night of sleep which was proceeded by a morning jog in the neighborhood. I decided to jog for an extra fifteen minutes which totaled to forty-five minutes since I needed to compensate for the food I ate yesterday and would be eating today. After my jog, I drank a full glass of water before returning to the bedroom. Since I woke up earlier, everyone in the house was still asleep. This gave me a sense of peace as I brought the f

Yes, and who that third party is will be revealed as the story continues. What is know now is that the breakup definitely affected Freddy and has contributed to his current state of mind. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for that informative comment! It can be assumed that Freddy only watches the concerts with violins and is totally oblivious to anything else.
-
Thank you! Yes, communication is very essential, especially in these situations. It won't fix the past, but it can help mend the future.
-
I don't think that's the case, but it would be an interesting predicament haha!
-
It's definitely lumpia! I'm Filipino, so I love inserting cultural aspects of the Philippines into my stories. Glad to see that small detail captured your attention. 😊
-
More chapters are on the way soon that will delve deeper into Freddy's past and overall story that hopefully includes Rick as well. 😄

Thank you for your comment! Yes, Freddy still has a lot of growing up to do along with a thick shell that needs to be cracked. One month to plan a wedding is very short indeed. There has to be reason for this rush that has yet to be explained. And Rick can't completely rely on Beth's parents who already provided him with free housing and food, so getting some money is a good idea. Also, it could be assumed that Freddy only thinks that people will go to a concert with a violinist rather than just a guitar player.
