So, do I need to warn about blood play in the next chapter??? Shaun's gonna cut Jesse up! 😂 I always cry-laugh because I know what I just said was weird but I can't help it 😂

I don't know if I could ever be a beta. I've tried, but it never goes past one initial 'critique'. Not that I've been trying... Just...this supposed fan from Ao3 sent me a long email. I was happy to chat, but when they started talking about their story ideas and how they're writing 4 stories at the moment... I immediately though to myself: Bad idea. Every time I work on multiple projects at once, I get all messed up. But I told them "That's great. You sound inspired." Then they wanted me to read their stories. And ugh. I said "maybe one." Am I a bad beta? I read the first page and I mean, that told me everything: Start over. Like... they kept saying "maybe I should start from the beginning," and then they explained in detail and it was confusing and they knew that because they said again "maybe I should start from the beginning," and they started explaining some more! Like what is happening, who are these people? Who's the main character even??? So much explaining about new planets and prophecies before we even see who's narrating! And this was just the first page! I told them this. I explained they need to pick a specific moment that explains, and by explains I mean "SHOWS" the main character; who they are, what they want and why, and who's around them, what characters are going to help them/twart them from these goals? Explain everything slowly in dialogue. Have it come up naturally! What the hell!!!! I think maybe I'm a bad beta 😅 But, I mean, I think I was nice. I didn't say start over, I said this is bad because "XYZ"!

In high school, I had two English teachers I can remember. Mr. Yokes and Mrs. Tenny. Yokes was the football coach, really intense, big guy, kinda scary. Tenny was pretty and blond. I think she did cheerleading, but I wouldn't know! They both affected me in significant ways. Tenny, not in a good way, unfortunately. I'm still trying to figure her out to this day. She seemed to sniff out my shyness and for whatever reason, she attacked. She taught the classics. Chauncer, that stupid Canterberry Tales stuff. Shakesphere! Ugh! God no. Shakesphere. She made us all memorize a sonnet. I got assigned Sonnet 29. Still remember it word for word after 20 years. Anyway, I was so nervous to get up and recite it. I was shaking, terrified, but I recited it perfectly, damn it. And she gave me a B because I didn't have enough emotion in it, or whatever. Bitch. She then asked me later if I was going to prom and when I said No, she asked 'well, would you go if you had a date?' and I was like 'Fuck no! I just want to get out of this damn school!!!' But I doubt I said the bad words lol. I was a good kid. None of this made sense to me.... Why is this pretty teacher being so mean to me???! I hated that class so so much! Yokes on the other hand, like I said, he was really intense! But I respected him. I didn't talk to him much, just kinda stood back and observed. In his class, we read Animal Farm and I remember that being pretty good. And then, THEN, we read Lord of the Flies and OMG that was probably the second story I wrote long form, a play on that story, 'what if a bunch of boys get stranded on an island, but some of them are gay!!! lol'. I kept it a total secret, of course. I never let anybody see what I liked, because I was sure they'd laugh at me.... I just remember this one time, Yokes was sick to death of us misspelling the word Characterize. He took his ruler and smacked the projector screen over and over until it broke and the ruler snapped. "This is how it's spelled! C-h-a-r-a-c-t-e-r-i-z-e!!!!! You're all going to remember this!!!!" and yeah, I fucking do remember! I remember it perfectly! And from this experience, I learned I like really intense characters that wear their hearts on their sleeves. And I don't like characters with hidden motivations 😂 Thanks for the lessons, you two!!!

When I was a teenager, I bought a used baby name book, with name origins and 'sound' alikes. TO BETTER NAME MY CHARACTERS! My mom found it and instantly thought I was preggers. But no. I was just a virgin trying to give birth to my narrative babies 😁 That was my favorite 'help' book.

Yeah! I really don't mean to keep dragging this story on, but I really want to hit all those "important" notes for my characters. I thought this chapter would be Mon + Tues + Weds with the show! But I just set up more plans for Tues + Weds And I definitely wanted consequences for Shaun's murder of Kyle, just not jail 😂 so, here we are! Sorry for all the reading, it all feels nessescary but I'm embarrassed too because I know I'm rambling now 😂
