    Yes, he's definitely different compared to his bestie. Maddox grew up as the youngest, spoiled by parents and older siblings. Therefore, his view of love, once he fell for Jonathan was more of a straight line than it would ever be for Rusty. I know I'm announcing pains with this, but it's just the way it is.

    Roy was pleased with Matty, actually, as he appreciates those who apply themselves. He most likely sees Rusty as someone with potential, and he's frustrated at how easy his son takes everything. In other words, he believes that his harsh treatment should make Rusty become more serious about his future. You're right about Connor's cult. He presents ideas, and those ideas lead to actions. At this point, he might not realize what that means, although he has the experience of the previous year.
