    Hmm, what an interesting POV. Yes, readers get to see only what Lawrence gets to see, hence the whole mystery. As he investigates, I like to believe that the readers will start investigating by his side! Motivations - oh yes, that's what a motive makes!

    I know I think it's because I'm focusing on the mystery - without neglecting the characters, only they will be revealed more gradually. If it helps, it will still be a love story - though romance might be only a subplot in this one for a change.
