Chapter Twenty-One – A Beautiful Accident He was taking chances, Gavin had warned him. Hudson looked at the back of Jackie’s head. Silence had settled between them after having the young man sign the papers that made him into an informant for law enforcement and, for a while, it was all right to let things take their natural course, whatever that would be. In the light of what had transpired in the interrogation room earlier that evening, Jackie needed – and was granted – time to adjust.

I'm glad to see you giving this story a chance! I like to believe that Otis is worth the trouble -

As always, you make me so happy with these comments I do watch a lot of TV series, and I think it has helped me write such scenes with multiple characters. And I love your characterization of Gavin! That's so on point. @J.El might not be particularly happy with the comparison, but who knows! And yes, your instincts regarding Jackie were on point. We will all protect Otis at all costs! -

Indeed that is true. The darkness only helps the good characters shine brighter. Thank you for your praise -

When readers' minds go to even darker places than mine... I know I found my tribe! Jackie truly showed his colors in this episode, because in the face of a critical situation, he dropped all the pretenses. As for the beef stew... maybe Otis just put it in the fridge overnight! -

And with the words 'what if they are never caught', you blew the lid off, he-he. No wonder @Joie J. suspects you of being Xpress. The dark elements will be here, they will add up until the critical mass is reached. -

Otis believes in Hudson, so the text did him good, indeed. And it was a turning point episode for sure! -

You're welcome Even with everything happening, Hudson was dying to send that text. The identity of the man with the robot voice will be revealed at the right time! -

Shock therapy indeed... The path opened for Hudson and Jackie as his informant is indeed, dangerous, and the danger will heighten with each episode. I am personally a big fan of thrillers, so this is me trying my hand at writing something like this. I hope that the climax of the story will do justice to all the high stakes action thrillers I've read so far in my life. Otis is taking baby steps in what means to have a relationship. He is new to this feeling of jealousy although not new to feeling insecure... -

Totally my bad. I should have strengthen the warnings. To say the whole truth, when I began writing this story, I had no idea it would turn so dark in places, but, as I continued, I realized that for Otis's purity and character to shine through, it was necessary to use a background that is so much the opposite of him so that true justice would be given to him in the end. -
Hey, thanks a lot for the vote of confidence! It is a different tune from my usual stuff, so I'm glad that readers are taking the plunge with me!

Chapter Twenty – Like Snuffed Out Candles No sign of Jackie’s blabbing to others about double identities and whatnot, at least not on the guy’s phone. Hudson worked quickly, one hand on the wheel, the other on the extra burner he had with him in case of an emergency. As soon as the gruff voice at the other end answered, he didn’t waste a moment. “I’ll need Room B,” he spat. “How soon?” “I’ll be there in fifteen.” “Okay.” “The captain shouldn’t--” “Yeah, I know.

I trust in Hudson and his reserve of spunk! Thanks for reading!

Correct. Seeing how Jasper didn't know how fast and far to run from it all, it would have been strange for him to return of his own accord.
-
As always, for these comments, I hesitate between laugh and love. Otis did a little blunder, and now Hudson has to deal with it. On the other hand, it's not Otis's fault that his boyfriend is an undercover cop, nor was he advised not to say anything. As for Jackie, we shall see
-
Better late than never! Just joking, you were right on time Hudson will have quite the things to juggle and manage, and it's not easy, but hey, when have I ever liked it easy? In fiction, of course. Your analysis of Jackie is on point, and I did laugh a little at imagining Jackie saying the line you gave him. It fits him like a glove. HEAs guaranteed? Of course!
-
That could have been one way to deal with it, the protective custody, I mean. But that would have meant sending Jackie away, and I still have plans with him
-
Oh, well, Jasper didn't exactly return of his own accord... Hudson will have to deal with Jackie next time, and that will really put the story on a slightly different track. But I'm shutting up now. No spoilers.
-
Yes, Hudson didn't get quite that good a look at Jackie as he should have, and that came to bite him in the ass. Still, since this was necessary for the plot, and it was inevitable (as you said), it had to happen. Hudson may be plenty rough around the edges, but he's also smart and wouldn't eliminate a civilian because he got in the way... He's the sort of guy to take hard decisions, but not at the price of a sense of morality he upholds even if not always through orthodox ways. There won't be a need for an alternative truth. Hudson has an ace up his sleeve, something he doesn't even know just yet. He - and the readers - will find what it is soon enough.
-
I did promise you a rollercoaster, I think? If not, this is my chance to say that. It's going to be a bumpy road with all these characters, for sure. Happy New Year to you, too!
-
They definitely will... and I like how every reaction before mine at this comment was 'fingers crossed'. Well said, my friends!
-
Disappearing Jackie would be too much... but Hudson is smart, and he's good at thinking on his feet. I won't give away spoilers, but next time you'll see how Hudson handles Jackie.

Chapter Nineteen – Breaking Point Hudson placed his hands under his head, trying hard to school his face to not betray the sensation of absolute delight he was experiencing at the sight of his clumsy, yet delicious, boyfriend riding him. His cock didn’t care so much for that type of honesty. It was twitching and enjoying the perfect squeeze delivered by Otis’s ass, so tight and able to take it at the same time. “You might have some regrets in the morning,” he teased his partner. O

Epilog “Is it okay to say that I can’t believe it?” Maddox patted him on the back on his way to pack the last few things. “Yep, Rusty, it’s totally fine. You’re going to get hitched to a swell guy.” “Not that part, that I can believe,” Rusty replied and waved impatiently. “I mean this. College is over. We’re grownups or something.” “Or something,” Maddox agreed as he used duct tape to secure one last cardboard box in place. It was full of books, and it had to weigh at least a

Chapter Eighteen – No Regrets A small gasp falling from Otis’s lips made reality fade even farther away. Life could be so simple if he only let it happen, like right now. The tension keeping him so strung day after day slowly unfurled and drifted away as he let his hands roam all over his lover’s curved back until they reach their intended destination. Otis gasped louder and, this time, pushed him slightly away. Both his eyes, pretty and startled, set on him. “Is this the night when yo
