In school suspension, I didn’t know who came up with the stupid idea, but by Friday I was actually thankful for the weekend. Even though I knew Mom and Dad were still high on the idea of keeping me grounded, I didn’t have high hopes of doing anything fun this weekend aside from my plan of sneaking out of the house Saturday night. After the fight Monday, we had to complete our in school suspension anyway. Welker didn’t think we really learned anything so he started our punishment over the nex

I really need to pick up her book, it is one of my favorites. Sad loss.

Thanks for reading Lisa. Yeah, if he was younger those rules wouldn't fly.. lol. She is lucky to get away with them so far right now... err maybe if they didn't live out in outskirts of town and he had a way of securing a ride to sneak out.. lol. Maybe he does one of these days... I know a lot of mothers like that when friends come over though.. they'll give a little white lie and then turn around and that freedom isn't really a freedom at all. I know my Mom tried to pull that on me when I dated guys she didn't like - which was all of them. lol. She definitely wants her baby boy to have better friends though.

Thanks for reading! Yeah, I'm seeing that the parent/kid dynamics in this story are front and center. As they should be for the time being. lol. I think the story hasn't really taken shape yet, but I think with chapter six and seven it really does.

Thanks for reading! And you brought up the entire point of me writing this story. I wanted some of these characters to be difficult to like at first - some will hopefully grow a lot and redeem themselves as I continue the story. I wanted to see if I could write somewhat unruly characters - this is a second attempt at doing so, this being a rewrite of what would have been my third story as an author, but I severely wrote myself into a corner with it so I had it deleted a long long time ago. lol. This time at least I have a clearer picture for the next few chapters.

Thanks for reading! Right now we're seeing the battle of wills - and Jackson's track record coming back to bite him on the butt a bit. Like the boy who cried wolf - eventually faith is lost and it needs to be restored. There definitely needs to be a "meet me half-way" sort of thing between them, if they all stop being stubborn that is. Maybe more of Jackson's past antics will come to light as the story progresses. Either way! I think the story moves a long better by chapter six.

Thanks for reading! Yeah, I'm glad I'm catching a lot of the high school hijinks with this story. Most of them I don't miss, mind you. lol. The parties and the feeling of "nothing can touch me" I sometimes do though. The parental figures in this story will become more involved as the story progresses, I'm trying to manage a lot of characters right now with their school atmosphere as well, been a bit rusty about doing High School romances/coming of age where there is a school setting, mostly I focus on summers.. since those are always fun here in the southern small towns I grew up in - if a bit boring looking in from people who grow up differently. Anyway, I hope you're liking the story. I hope to find more time to really write and knock this story out within the next month or so.

Thanks for reading! I'm glad you're liking the story so far! The parents - I'm not sure, they're different from the parents I've written in the past, because they're dealing with a character that I've not really touched on.. the fact that he's somewhat difficult to like/understand sometimes makes the reactions from other characters also different for me to maneuver through. I just hope when the story is over all the characters involved will make a full arc or I've failed them a bit.

Mom led us through the living room to the kitchen. I saw that she moved the seldomly used table out so that everyone had a seat at the table. The plates were already set out along with the silver and what looked like a pitcher of lemonade. Dad was already sitting, but rose to shake Luke’s hand when Luke greeted him. I saw Mom smile and I rolled my eyes as I sat across the table from Dad. “I hope spaghetti is okay, Luke,” Mom said, not even looking at me for any sign of approval. “It’s fi

If she can come up with a villain that could top Voldy, I wouldn't mind seeing the next gen thwarting him or her. She did write those book really well. Actually a really strong female villain would be a nice change of pace from what I've been reading lately. lol

Sigh.. I've said a lot of those.. lol.

Bless your heart, Steven.

Thanks for reading! Luke's Momma will be explained one of these days. I look forward to Luke/Cindy's relationship a lot. It will likely be more developed soon. (Don't want to spoil y'all) I also don't want to spoil y'all about the friends either.. Nice that y'all are having these questions though! They are important plot points for me... Wee! I hope you're liking the story.

Thanks for reading! There is definitely a battles of wills going on between Jackson and his parents. You're right too though, although unwillingly, he has done what they've told him... after that first night when he did run off to the bonfire after being grounded... I think we're in a part of their story where it will be difficult to relate to the struggles the parents have with Jackson, since we're seeing it after the straw broke the camel's back... lol. I hope the interactions don't become too bogged down and I can move them all forward a bit in the coming chapters.

Thanks for reading! Yeah they've really put on their parenting pants, maybe they're worried because he leaves for college in the coming years and they are realizing they can't parent him whilst he's there by himself... Maybe they're not tired too.. lol. I know I would have a few gray hairs if I were them. Luke and Luke's Mother are two characters I REALLY want to get into more.

Thanks for reading! I think the story is progressing a bit faster/straight forward in the next coming chapters to hopefully showcase some of those questions a wee bit. I really need to get on the writing thing though.. I'm only on chapter 6.. .

By the end of the day, I never thought I would like to see my driveway in this small town. Practice had been miserable, Coach Tate took one look at my sunburned face and my hickies and wanted to throw me out of the YMCA. I wouldn’t have minded, but instead he made me do endless laps, not working on techniques, my butterfly still needed a lot of work. When I got home, Mom and Dad were both already home and it was starting to get dark. I frowned feeling in my pocket, out of habit, for my cel

It makes me happy that you like my dialog, I am very heavy with it in my writing. That fight was a big one and I would hate to have a child say that to me... I would think I failed them. So yeah, I would feel gutted. I hope you like Luke, needless to say he's important.. lol.
-
Hopefully there is more to him than that, there has to be some sort of redeeming quality, I agree.
-
Yeah, the two are definitely measuring one another up, I just think at this point Luke has a ton more patience.. lol. Him not knowing Luke also just shows the level of... distance Jackson has put between himself and his parents, I think. Jack's Mom didn't even know there were usually drinking and girls at their bonfires, but she had to know there was a possibility. I hope to develop that relationship better.. the Son/Parents one with both characters as I move along.
-
Yeah, they were pretty hands off despite all the meanness Jack got up to in the past - so part of this is their fault. Maybe they finally saw where it may lead if they continue to allow him to get away with things... but! A change of that nature does rock a person a bit. I'm glad you brought that up - it isn't all Jack's fault.
-
His parents are hoping he learns something, so maybe he will. Or maybe he really is just that stubborn. lol. Luke is a sweetheart, but I hope to give him some edge of his own as well. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
