    Clearly, I'd forgotten how cold it can get up north – well, for the first few weeks anyway's. The guys at the station said it was ‘fresh.’ Bullshit, fresh! I think my balls stayed lodged so far up inside me, I felt them in my neck for the first two days, ha-ha. I’d woken up a few hours before my shift started. It was still dark and pretty much quiet outside. I was lying in bed, warm but alone - no Ben - no sexy warm body next to me. I couldn’t help reminisce about how the past few months

    Thanks @James B., appreciate your comments and so glad your enjoying the story. I did play with building up the storyline in the conventional way, but wanted to spring the surprise as it was on their guests at the "engagement party," the reaction I was hoping for was a mixture of surprise - what the heck happened, a sense of mild confusion. To what what? hope you enjoy the next chapter, and thanks again for the feedback, do appreciate it, have a fantastic day too.

    My first shift out here set the tone for my time: the guys were all fantastic. The boss was great - I've had way worse over my time in the job. It was pretty easy. I was Firefighter level, so the grunt work - get to the jobs bowl out, hose and get into it, no management, simple firefighting. Well, that was for the first two shifts. Then a few of the officers noticed my skills and I was pushed into relieving shift, backfilling where there were staff shortages due to leave, illness, etc., even a f

Yeah in the adult clear thinking world absolutely you are right, but Jamie’s immaturity and getting too much in his head is the catalyst for this all unraveling, and him being unable to work out how to stop it.
