It all goes back to my previous comment in the last chapter. They're middle schoolers passing notes through a third party desperately praying the teacher doesn't intercept them. *Oh look! First on page 2!

I'm not sure Kyan even knows what love is. At 17 nearly every guy thinks with the downstairs brain. That's what he did with Dayna. He didn't date her. He banged her and got her pregnant.... then got to know her. I think his feelings of "love" developed out of a sense of obligation to his family. In his mind, you were supposed to love your wife, so that's what he did. When Dayna died, he spent three years in a void. As a teenager he never had the chance to explore his sexuality. He didn't go to college and experiment like a lot of kids do. Perry is the catalyst that he needed to realize there's another part of himself that exists. Let's hope he embraces it. (At least Perry can't get knocked up!) Perry, on the other hand, is older and more experienced. He's sure of himself and confident with his sexuality. Because of that, he's more vulnerable. He has more to lose if things don't work out. His heart won't just break, it will shatter.
