I never had a curfew. My parents just wanted to know what time I'd be home and if I was going to be later to call. This was pre-cell phone days so it was a hassle to find a phone so I was usually home when I said I would be, which was most often by midnight because that was the curfew for my friends. Swiping booze, well, let's just say my BFF and I started that around 13. Our parents never suspected us because we both had brothers to blame it on.

My teachers did love me. I was the poster child for well behave Catholic school girl. The only difference between me and the troublemakers was I rarely got caught. I do have the gift of gab and I've never been to Ireland to kiss the blarney stone. It's in the genes.

Next chapter will bring about some answers. There wasn't much food, but @astone2292 pointed out a glaring mistake in my part during the editing process. That's why the boys have cookies for their road trip.🤭

Tyler tapped his foot impatiently as the Dean of Schools wrapped up his speech. On what should have been one of the proudest days of his life so far, all he could think about was how messed up everything had become. Thank fuck the dean finally finished spewing whatever inspirational crap came from his pie hole. Tyler never cared for graduation speeches, no matter who they came from. Now all he had to do was wait, while two-hundred other names were called in front of him. It could be worse.

A little update. Mom has improved somewhat. She is off of the oxygen and is able to take her meds orally and can eat and drink if she's fed. She was singing/humming. She's qualified for hospice and will most likely be going back to my brother's house tomorrow with those services in place. Mentally I've been prepared for this for a while. Emotionally, it's tough. @mollyhousemouse, I thought of you the other day when my best friend told me about her son's road trip to help out one of his friend's with the driving for his move to San Diego. They wanted to see a few different places along the way and he described the trip as: "Went through CT, NY, PA, WV, saw Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans. Then drove through Texas, and drove through Texas, then drove through Texas before we finally drove through Texas."😆 Pretty sure they had no clue Texas would be half their trip. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

One of the things I've discovered as I evolve in my writing style is that I'm pretty comfortable doing chapters in the 4-5k range. That being said, I also like to challenge myself. I wrote two back to back stories where I kept the chapters in 5k territory. My biggest challenge so far was last year's flash fiction. Limiting a story word count to 1k is really hard when you're used to being able to ramble on. It was a fun learning experience and it turned out well. It's one of my favorites. Overall, it's whatever you're comfortable with.
