Good morning, Val! And the same to everyone else. Yesterday, because I couldn't get out to buy candy, I baked a large batch of my world famous chocolate chip cookies. Just in case the parents of any of the local kids allowed them to go trick or treating under the current social distancing restrictions, I left a plateful of them inside the front door to hand out if they came knocking. I'm not sure whether it was because of the current lockdown, or because of Storm Aidan crossing Ireland yesterday bringing strong winds and heavy rain (probably a combination of both those facts), but I didn't have a single trick or treater knock on the door. And, because of the high sugar content, I can't eat all the cookies myself, so I'll pass the most of them on to a friend who has kids with sweet teeth.

Never thought of using it as a story prompt... Good idea, guys! Actually, although that door is painted brown, the paint is badly cracked and peeling, revealing a similar coat of cracked and peeling green paint underneath... That made me think of the song Green Door made famous by Shakin' Stevens back in 1981 (although I'm actually old enough to remember Frankie Vaughan's original hit with the song in 1957), with the opening lines of: Midnight... One more night without sleeping. Green door... What's that secret your keeping? Of course, I know what's behind the door. Maybe for my next weekly black and white photograph I'll actually open the door, use a wide-angled lens, put "TN" on a tripod, and take a long exposure photograph to let the rest of you see what actually is in the small dark room that lies behind it...

It's still October here, bro. But the veil between the worlds is starting to get very thin... Oíche Shamhna sona, go léir! Happy samhain, all! (Happy halloween, all!)

Week 31 out of 52 black and white photo: I called it: The Old Cottage (4) - Unopened Door. Not totally happy with it, but felt there was maybe a Halloween feel to it...

Today, 29th October 2020, marks the 80th birthday of my eldest sibling, Maureen. Last weekend I should have been travelling to England for a family get-together to mark this important milestone. Due to Covid-19 these celebrations had to be cancelled. My next eldest sibling, Michael will reach the same milestone in June of 2022. Fingers (and everything else) crossed that we'll all still be around, and able to get together for that celebration.

He's getting no photos of my wet spots. Neither before, nor after. None... Rien... Nichts... Nada... Zilch... Nul... Zero.
