  1. I have a couple, actually. But I doubt they'd be suitable clothing for trying to remove briars, brambles, and brushwood from a still overgrown corner of the garden...
  2. I think those days are well behind me, clo... Although I can always live in hope.
  3. Good morning, all! Today's weather here looks like it's going to be every bit as good as yesterday's. Maybe even better, as the temperature is forecast to possibly get up to 16°C (61°F). I bet you can guess where I intend spending most of the day.
  4. An Australian man who reportedly snuck out of quarantine to visit his girlfriend has become the first person to be imprisoned under the country’s lockdown laws: https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/court-justice/perth-man-jonathan-david-jailed-for-coronavirus-quarantine-breach-ng-b881519954z
  5. I'm gonna get an early night. Good night, gang!
  6. Great minds think alike? (I could have said: Birds of a feather, but I see you've already used that quote in a turkey related reply elsewhere...)
  7. So glad he's okay, dughlas! ❤️
  8. Hi, Albert!
  9. Now I'm not really complaining about the good weather we're experiencing here in the northwest of Ireland just at the moment. After all, we're more used to rainy days that dry ones, so it could turn out that we are actually having our summer in spring this year. That happens far too often in Ireland; a warm settled spell for a couple of weeks early in the season, and then the rain comes back and basically stays for the rest of the summer. It's due to the warm Gulf Stream that flows down the western Atlantic coast, apparently. Today isn't really all that warm, with temperatures only getting up to around 14°C (57.2°F). But there's been virtually no clouds, and only a very slight breeze, making it seem like a real summer's day. That's probably why the following song kept running through my head as I have been working in the garden all day...
  10. Hmmm... Not sure... Seems expensive. Seems heavy at just over 2 pounds (almost a kilogramme). Seems there is so much that could break on it. Seems more of a gimmick than a gadget to me. And even the review says that the battery capacity is not enough to recharge a modern smartphone. I do like the wood burning camp stoves though. There's some lesbian friends of mine have a very old one that is so easy to use, and extremely efficient, boiling a fell kettle of water in under ten minutes. Must ask them sometime where they got it from. And, knowing them, they'll probably tell me it's home made.
  11. Hi, Page. And you can make me that for breakfast any time you like. Mind you, the article starts as follows: "This Valentine's Day forget about the chocolates, the candies, and all the other sweet treats. Try serving your loved ones breakfast in bed instead!" Are you trying to tell me something, Page?
  12. And is this nephew taller than you as well?
  13. After 1 am. Bedtime I reckon. Good night, gang
  14. All good here, thanks Spent most of the day pottering about the garden.
  15. Hey. Albert! Hope all's well with you and yours.
  16. It actually made me think of a line from the 2001 film L.I.E.
  17. Fingers crossed for you, as well, Val
  18. Hope it isn't as bad as they are forecasting, dughlas. *Fingers Crossed* I'm reading reports here in Ireland of at least eleven deaths due to tornadoes hitting Mississippi yesterday. Stay safe, my friend. And look after mum.
  19. Good morning, all Shaping up to be a beautiful day here in the northwest of Ireland. Likely I'll spend very little time in the house itself. Hope everyone else has a wonderful Monday.
  20. Thanks, Page
  21. Rather than reply separately to all of your individual wishes, let me just wish each and everyone of you a happy Easter. "Old English Eōstre continues into modern English as Easter and derives from Proto-Germanic *austrōn meaning 'dawn', itself a descendant of the Proto-Indo-European root *aus-, meaning 'to shine' (modern English east also derives from this root). Writing in the 8th century, the Anglo-Saxon monk Bede describes Ēostre as the name of an Old English goddess: "Eosturmonath has a name which is now translated "Paschal month", and which was once called after a goddess of theirs named Eostre, in whose honour feasts were celebrated in that month. Now they designate that Paschal season by her name, calling the joys of the new rite by the time-honoured name of the old observance." Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_Easter
  22. Morning, all! Another nice day here. I'm planning to play Easter Bunny shortly, and head up to a friend's house about 15 miles away with some Easter eggs. Well, the Health Minister did say a few days ago that the Easter Bunny is classed as an essential worker... Hopefully I don't get turned back by the gardaí (the Irish Police) before I reach my destination...
  23. Because of the restrictions?
