  1. Visit went well, I hope?
  2. Why, thank you very much!
  3. Howdie, young Albert!
  4. Cheers, Gary! And thanks.
  5. So the week started off with nice dry (if somewhat cold) weather, enabling me to get some outside work done in the garden. But the rain returned late on Wednesday, and the week is ending with dull, grey days again, and it's been inside work for the past couple of days. Here's a photo I took this afternoon that shows just how dull the weather is at the present: The good news is that the central heating in the new, old house is now working!

    Friday

Have to say that I am enjoying how this story is developing. I'm now left wondering just how Simon's dad is going to react to the news. Will he bring Simon's mum to court? I don't think he would win if he did. Will he stop paying for Simon's phone? I'd almost suggest Simon get a new number if he did; and then not give his new number to his dad. And then, of course, there was Freddie's "I know Jeff will be happy if you join us" comment on the bus ride home. Is it possible Jeff has told Freddie that he finds Simon attractive? Could Jeff look at Simon the same way that Simon obviously looks at Jeff...? Enough speculation! No, I'm not asking for spoilers sweetie. I'll find out in due time. Looking forward to the next chapter(s).
  7. Good day and good night, everyone After 1:30am here. Time this oldtimer was in bed.
  8. Evening, young man! How's things in Albertsville?
  9. Good evening, Gary.
  10. My youngest sister often forgets to label the leftovers that she freezes. When she's in a hurry some evenings, she will have what she calls "A Freezer Surprise" for dinner...
  11. Exactly what I was going to suggest, Duggie!
  12. As I said in my reply to Albert... I didn't drop a single eave.
  13. So will he have to eat his meals standing up?
  14. I wouldn't believe everything you read on the Internet...
  15. Oh, I hope to get plenty of use out of it!
  16. Well guys... It's after midnight here. Time for my beauty sleep.
  17. I don't really think I drop any eaves at all, to be honest. You should have whispered if you didn't want the rest of us to hear...
  18. So do you know?
  19. I would... But I don't think I know him. Maybe you could ask him for me?
  20. Well, the oil-fired central heating in my new (old) house is back up and running. Made the house feel much more cheery with warm radiators! Unfortunately, this evening was just a test run to see that everything works okay. The plumber will come back tomorrow evening and set everything in place properly, and then run some tests (most importantly a carbon monoxide reading) and fit the timer. Hopefully that will be the end of this saga, and I'll be able to heat the house for a couple or three hours each day. Whilst the plumber was busy inside, I was outside used the stiff one I bought yesterday to sweep the rear concrete and paved area that I'd tidied up yesterday, And then started pruning back the overgrowth around and over the old stone sheds that were in the photograph I posted a few week ago (here). There are an awful lot of briars and brambles to clear, as well as ivy, so it's going to be a slow tedious job as (a) I don't want to be scratched too badly, and (b) there's a subsided slated roof on the sheds and I would hope to save the slates rather than damage them. And I really need to get some gardening gloves, as I got a number of scratches today. I'm just hoping the weather stay reasonably dry, so I can get on with this outside work for a few more days. Albert is welcome to the rainy weather we usually get over here in Ireland.
