You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it! Hehehe. It's probably worth the refresher.

    Harlan

Harlan is sort of a "take charge" kind of guy when he needs to be. When something like a major health issue strikes, it's so nice to have someone who can do that sort of thing. Yes, Gary's truck is not dependable. Harlan will be sure to take care of that too. 🙂 Thanks for the comment!

    Harlan

Thanks for the comments! You're absolutely right. The hardest struggles are fought by those who have the least. We'll see what happens now that Harlan is on the scene. 🙂

    Harlan

The bits of interest, really, are chapters 17 and 18 if you want to refresh your memory of Harlan specifically. He didn't have a big role in Guarded, but even then I knew I was going to use him again.

    Pride

There's a pretty terrible history there, particularly in the southern states. My friend went through almost exactly what Greg did, and Greg's experience was nearly a mirror image of Shane's. Thanks for reading. More, thanks for diving into the comments. There are some eloquent, interesting, and thoughtful readers making their way through this story, and their comments are just as valuable as the work itself.

No, not quite. This Harlan is definitely in his own class.

June 26 (Tuesday, 7:25 a.m.) Orson and Joseph cleaned themselves up the best they could in the confines of Joseph's tent. They dressed, then got out. Orson stood on his crutches and looked around. It appeared that his exit from the small dwelling had gone unnoticed by the few folks who were up and about. Joseph stood up and stretched, then smiled at Orson. "I'm gonna go shower. Meet me over at the kitchen for breakfast?" Orson grinned. "Yeah. Sounds good. I'll see ya there." He w

    The Red Knight

Greg really took a risk in opening the campground. We'll have to see if he succeeds or not. He has a lot of help, goodwill, and love, so he's got those going for him - which are all important things.

Thanks for the comments. Yep, you summed it all up pretty nicely. And you'll have to see what else is coming for all of our guys. You've got quite a few chapters to get through that are already posted, and I do hope you continue to enjoy it.

    Thanks, tim. ❤️

    Officer Wells

Thanks, tim. I was a different writer when I did this work. I thought every chapter needed sex in it! This one had a double dose, lol. But, I still try to show a progression ... a deepening of emotion, and connection between people. I hope that came across. He did indeed. And I hope you enjoyed the "screentime" for Jeremy and Mason. 😉 Thanks for reading and commenting!

He is so protective of Elias. We'll see just how far that goes soon. 🙂 Thanks, Chris. Thanks for reading and for the comment, Tom. 🙂 He just might indeed! He has done the math, and with the increased traffic things are looking up. As word gets out about the campground more will come. That means the dream goes on. Thanks for reading and commenting, Tony!

Hehe. Thanks, Parker. When we're not concerned with survival moment to moment, or if people will accept us without a struggle, some things can just happen. It's not really magic; it's how life should be. True, genuine, freedom. Though, I suppose there is a magic in that too.

    Officer Wells

We'll see. It's very early, so we'll just have to see where things end up. But, it does look hopeful, eh? Thanks for writing and reading! He really did think that. He felt that his whole world was ending when he lost his leg (I think most of us would have felt the same way!). But look at where he is now. It was a terrible thing he suffered, but his heart stayed open. That's a hard thing to pull off - it truly is. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks, Fae! You're right. Orson is feeling something toward Elias that he never expected to feel at all. Elias considers what he's doing as just "playing around with clay", but all of these guys can tell that he has real talent. It'll take time to convince him of that, but maybe they can. Heh. Yep! Orson is on an emotional journey with Joseph. There's a lot going on for a lot of people in this chapter. The cabins are not soundproof. Anybody who wants to listen in can get a fun soundtrack for the night. Thanks for commenting!

    Chapter 21

Thanks for reading and commenting, Butcher! This was my first and only true suspense/mystery. The stuff that comes after from me is largely romance, though Silverwolf breaks the mold pretty severely, and there's a tiny bit of mystery involved in that story - but it isn't everyone's cup of tea. Guarded is the first story in a series I wrote. Camp Refuge follows, and it's heavily a romance. It won't be late in the story that the tie in to Guarded comes, but it will. I hope you enjoy all that follows after Guarded. Thanks for reading, commenting, and rating!

    Chapter 21

I missed replying to this. Thanks for reading and commenting, KayDeeMac! I'm glad you found it a good story. I definitely enjoyed writing it!

June 25 (Monday, 9:22 a.m.) Orson relaxed at the kitchen picnic table and stretched in the sun. He felt good, and he had something very exciting to look forward to. He took another drink of coffee and looked over the information on the prosthetic specialist Jeremy provided. Friday, he was scheduled to see the specialist in Redding. His leg was finally healed enough, and it was time. Jeremy had already sent Orson's medical records, x-rays, and all other pertinent information for the prost
  19. I got to beta this one. It's a good story. Like Timothy above I really liked how Tamiel just wrote off the idea the any kind of love shared between people was a sin. Nice start, Thorn.

It's hard in times like this to "Look for the helpers". I try, but it's hard. Sad poem, tim. Well done, but sad.

Ah, I'm so glad you are enjoying the trip back through the Campground, Jaybee! There actually will be more to read soonish. @Mikiesboyand I collaborated on a new tale, and it will be edited and posted sometime in the coming weeks. It's a different sort of thing for both tim and me, and I do hope that folks like what we're going to offer them.

Thank you, rick. I'm glad you're enjoying the story again. I like this one a lot, though it'll be nice to get to A Silent Song too.

So ... you're just throwing more fuel on the "don't encourage droughtquake" fire. Got it. 😉
