Thank you, Txfilm41! Harlan does have a soul. He despised that as a weakness at first, but Bailey has taught him to embrace emotion. It took patience from both guys, really. I mean, Harlan could have decided that Bailey was too much work a few times. But we are lucky that he didn't. 🙂

Hehe. Thanks for the nice comment. I'm really happy you enjoyed the story. Of course, you know that writing is made worth it by readers and the interactions with them. So I appreciate you'd spend time on the story. Thanks again. And I've been writing! 😛
  3. I like Civ VI a lot too. Though, Stellaris really scratches the 4x itch for me.

“It’s okay.” Bailey barely had time to sign before Harlan once again embraced him. He seemed to be at some limit, and now, as they stood beside the serene and babbling Smith River, all Bailey could do was hold him. Finally, Harlan breathed and pushed back to look at Bailey. His face was streaked with tears, and he stared with an expression of surrender. Harlan bit his lip, then he laughed. "What do you want to know?" He shrugged. "I'll tell you. I'll tell you anything you want to know."

  6. I think you have had enough leaf water, young man!
  7. Yes. I understand that leaf-water is very important.
  8. I hear "folded bunny" is a popular one with certain Doms.

he is in rare form today! lol Thanks, Mike. 🙂
  10. I laugh, but there was like ... RELIEF in his voice when he tried it and it worked. I believe you. lol
  11. Hrm. True. We've got some planning to do. 🙂
  12. Just so you know ... Kris Harbour, a guy I follow on YouTube, built his off-grid "round house" as he calls it. He installed solar, batteries, a windmill, and hydroelectric power himself. The first, happy success for him after doing that was to run his kettle. Those little beasties draw a lot of watts (anything with a heating element does), so it took a beefy system to make it work. But so do power tools - which he definitely needed. I just found it hilarious. Instead of him testing his system with a saw, or a drill, the true mark of success for him was if he could run that damn kettle. Edit: I forgot to say that he lives in Wales.
  13. you should show me how. Maybe after you show me how it's done for a few pages, I'll figure it out. I'm pretty slow, so it may take a bit.
  14. mmmm ... who needs sleep tonight?
  15. Since no kettle is needed, even this USA caffeine lover can do it.

I think you know me well, AND you're a writer. 😛 Thanks for the comment, tim. And don't worry - I've only got the one chapter left to go. It's already written, so all I've got to do is edit it a bit and pass it along to Mr. Thorn for his editing. Soon, there will be nothing between me and Wild Maple Farm. And didn't I write enough for you yesterday? Jeez, what a slavedriver! 😝

Yep, you did. And here we are. Thanks for the comment, Jack. Hahaha. Corbin might be ordained, or maybe not. But you can bet the Family knows someone who is. "I know a guy ..." is frequently said when they are looking for credentials, licensed people, and other talent. But that's a bit of a leap. Let's just find out what happens on Sunday. 😄

Thanks for the comment Quixo. And ... you know, Harlan deeply feels for Bailey. He feels more than he has ever felt for anything or anyone, and values Bailey far more than he cares about himself. That's why he was willing to suffer through losing him. Harlan considers himself a lead weight around Bailey's neck, and he tried to push him away so Bailey moved on. But love is a stubborn beast. And so is Bailey. 🙂

It's not quite the end. We've got another chapter. I'm glad you liked this story! Thanks for commenting and reading, yarameb!

Hehe. Thanks, Tom. Yes. I'm not sure what part of a story this chapter would fall into either. It's just life for these two guys - though certainly a bumpy patch of it. One more to go. We'll see how they end up on Sunday. 🙂

Thanks for the great comment, tesao. Yeah, only one more chapter. And ... I'll admit, it's a bit short. But I do think it wraps things up pretty nicely for Bailey and Harlan. Sometimes you don't need a lot of words to get through a moment. I'm happy you find depth and richness in my writing. That's a great compliment, and I appreciate it.

Thanks, Geemeedee. There will be moments like that within tales I write, but I'll never end on one. Just because life can be unfair at certain moments in time doesn't mean I want to focus on those moments. Life goes on after disappointment, and I'll write until I reach a point where the cycle swings back to something good. 🙂 There's one more chapter to go. Let me know what you think of where we leave our pair when it is posted on Sunday!

Thanks, Fae. I really do think you're right. Harlan couldn't articulate everything he felt, not really. But ... his gift said it all.
