  1. We don't, but one of our neighbours has a goat. There are also a few that I pass when I go to and from work. As for treating them properly... I don't think they are. To the best of my knowledge, none of them have been given internet access
  2. Thanks for the update, Sharon!
  3. It's too late to modify the poll, but since we were talking about a run-off poll of the top few entries, I think we should add this one. Shouldn't it be Capricans? Capernicans sounds like it's been named out a certain famous astronomer....
  4. Lace-up shorts from a New York company. I've seen them used in Australia, but not for a long, long time. Some people may wear them, but I don't know of any....
  5. Actually, there was. A purely platonic kiss between The Scar and his co-conspirator Just pointing it out before CJ does.... EDITED TO ADD: Now you know why I voted for "Club James" for the name of the fan club. It has a nice double meaning -- useful in circumstances like this.
  6. I've found the following: Is that what you were thinking of?
  7. Okay, I wasn't too far off when I said twenty years ago... I think they still wear them for rugby, but I don't follow rugby -- I'm an Aussie Rules Football boy Oh, and yeah, they can look really sexy on the right guy...
  8. Lace-up Aussie football shorts? Either this story is set about twenty years ago, or someone has a poor idea of what Aussie football shorts are like, or it's an American's version of Aussie football shorts. I know exactly what they look like, but I don't think many real football players wear them.... I loved the breakfast scene. I could just picture it and the two guys indecision. Absolutely delicious! Thanks, CJ!
  9. Best wishes, Vance. I hope you're better soon
  10. Does this answer the question?
  11. Happy Birthday! Have a great day!
  12. It looks it's it'll be between three possibilities. If there's a tie, a simple vote between the tied options is the easiest way -- after all, the one I voted for isn't winning so that means I'll be available to be lobbied to vote to break the tie. I prefer small, unmarked bills... I think we should leave this poll running for a week. That will be plenty of time for everyone to vote, though I suspect we'll have an answer before then.
  13. Here we are -- the chance to vote on what you think CJ's fans should be called
  14. Thank you! I had a vague recollection on the Sanskrit connection, but that was all. Anyway, I don't want to hijack this thread so quickly, so back to Raksha Bandhan -- I think it's a great idea. While it may not be celebrated properly by every brother and sister, I can see how it encourages the bond between siblings and I can't see how that can be a bad thing
  15. Sweet! And to anyone who may wonder, no, that's not a swastika on that wrist. The symbol in question pre-dates the Nazi era though I'll concede I don't know a lot of its history.
  16. Kid: A human child Kidd: A baby goat. Both words are pronounced the same. <Persons> Kids (human children) is also used colloquially to indicate young people who look up to someone, or are mentored by someone. Eg. "Coach Brennan's kids" would be one way of talking about the kids who are coached/mentored by Coach Brennan's. It doesn't imply he's the biological father of those children. I'd worry about that if it ends up getting the majority vote
  17. Correct! Every 25th reply goes to the top of the next page. Now for the bad news -- CJ didn't tell the full truth 25 is the default board setting for the number of posts per page, but each member can alter this for themselves if they want to. Go to "My Controls", and then "Board Settings" and alter the default. This means that not everyone will have 25 posts per page. It's up to each individual member (though most will just use the default board settings).
  18. I was wondering if anyone would comment on that. I thought about it, and if CJs Kids got the most vote, we'll have another vote as to if it should be Kids, Kidds or Kid(d)s? (though the later one may cause a demarcation dispute with the fans of The Lo(n)g Way).
  19. I'll add Goatwhisperers, but I'm not adding Minions. This is purely because I'm an arbitrary bastard and I don't want more than eight names on the list....
  20. I didn't have any sort of relationship until I was around your age, Kevin. I didn't get married until I was 27. The difference is that I think you're happier within yourself that I was at that age, and that's an important difference. I've got another friend who is now 45 and still single. He's told me that someone commented that rather than being a desperately lonely man, my friend is someone who is self-sufficient. Someone who doesn't need another person, but would accept them if they right one came along. There are all sorts in the world and you are who you are. I wouldn't have it any other way. It's rude to disagree with the birthday boy on his birthday, but I'm going to do it anyway. Hey, I'm an Aussie -- being obnoxious is part of the job Your friend is happy, and I read his question as a lead to hoping for answer that means you're sharing the type of happiness he has. He wasn't prying -- he was wishing. And on that subject, I'm also wishing for the day when you'll be telling us that you're going out with someone I don't care when that will be, and I'm even happy if you decide you don't care if it doesn't happen. As I think many people will agree, we just want you (and all our friends) to be happy. Different things make different people happy. As someone who is fast approaching 45, I can tell you that many people DO stay beautiful. What you'll find is that what you find beautiful changes over time. When you were four, it was the pretty rock or flower. When you were thirteen it was the cool guy on the TV. As you get older, the perception changes from the external to the internal. Yes, I still find young men attractive, but I can look at older guys (around my age) and think that they are handsome with kind personalities -- something I would have shuddered at when I was in my early 20s. More and more, their beauty is in their personality and not their appearance. Enough of the sermonising. Feel free to see hello if you see me online.
  21. You didn't miss his b-day in the US Rich. Graeme just starts his birthday in Australia. Exactly! My view is that why should the poor residents of the USA have to wait until it's their birthday in their timezone, when they can start partying with us on the other side of the International Date Line where it's already the next day? Even so, 48 hours is still too short for a birthday....
  22. Last chance before the poll goes up: Clan James CJs Kids The Herd / The Goat Herd Goatsters Club James CJs The Lurkers I've put The Herd and The Goat Herd together so the vote won't be split. If there are no other additions, I'll put up the poll sometime in the next 24 hours.
  23. I don't see why not. Just like it's possible to love more than one person (even if it's in different ways), a reader can love more than one author
  24. Happy 21st Birthday! Congratulations! You're now officially part of the elderly....
  25. :king: Happy Birthday, Kevin! :king: Have a great day. Party hard. Have fun. And don't forget to have a great year!
