I haven't seen any movies over the last few months, but that's normal for me. James -- I had to laugh with your 7-10 bucks for a movie comment. I'll tell you now -- don't bother coming to Australia to see a movie One thing that was very annoying was the marketing of some of the movies. The fast food chains were using toys to advertise certain movies, but those movies had M ratings and so kids weren't allowed to see them (eg. Spiderman 3). Happily, our boys aren't used to going to the cinema so they didn't hassle us to take them.

I don't know what he's in hospital for, but he's told me he has a chronic condition that can cause a lot of pain at times. My first thought it was that which caused him to end up in hospital. Any more detail than that, and I think it should some directly from him.

I disagree. In my humble opinion, the scenes with The Scar give the whole story a Tom Clancy-esque feel. We've got a main story line going on, but we keep seeing these little glimpses of something completely different that changes the whole tone of the story. It builds the tension and anticipation -- how do these two things relate? How are they going to come together? I should point out that there is a question mark at the end of that title. There is still no guarantee of a kiss between any of the characters. It could even been something completely different, like a cameo by one or more members of the band Kiss. Now, I think that is unlikely, but I just want to point out that our goat is a wiley beast and that we shouldn't expect the obvious from him. Oh, and the New Zealand accent swaps the sound of 'i' and 'e' in some words... including the word six. This means that a New Zealander saying 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6 would actually sound like some chanting "sex".... Getting back to Helen, there's something that's bothered me with this chapter and the previous one. This partially explains why Helen hadn't heard that the crew weren't getting room and board allowances. It also explains what Gabe had against Brandon -- he didn't want him complaining about the promised room to anyone else. However in the previous chapter, there was the following: and All of these statements are compatible, but only just. If Helen grabbed two crew and spoke to them, I can see them blurting out the truth because they are "afraid" of her. But the older hands should've been different. If they previously had rooms and meals and then didn't, why wasn't something said at the time? I would've expected some complaints (and some of the crew would've left at that time -- and made their reasons vocal). It is possible that Helen and the boys didn't hear anything about it then, but it's unlikely... UNLESS there was someone else besides Gabe who told the roadies about the change and said it was authorised. I think this is further evidence that there is someone other that Gabe involved. Is it Joe Clump, or maybe the boys' father? If, as we learnt in this chapter, the boys are estranged from their father, the father may've decided to skim some extra money from the boys profits.

The anthologies are a great place to sample a range of authors, all the hosted authors are fantastic and there is a very broad range of genres available. eFiction has a lot of stories submitted by members, and the archive has links to great stories elsewhere on the internet. That should keep you busy for the next few years...

Damnit! What's up with the education system today? They obviously have failed to properly educate those rats, and, as a consequence, the rats are doing things that no self-respecting, educated Desert Pack Rat would ever do....

The same applies to me about English speaking countries. I never learnt another language and I would feel very uncomfortable in a nation where I had trouble communicating. I actually feel jealous of people who are able to speak more than one language... (excluding computer languages). Oh, and you ARE able to drive on the right-hand side in Australia. You just need to be very nimble (dodging those idiots who are driving straight at you), have a thick skin (you'll get a lot of horns blasting at you) and a super fast car (because there'll be a few cars with flashing lights chasing you). You CAN do it, though....

I can appreciate your concern, though I think the difference between Clan and Klan should be enough. How about "Club James"? A similar idea of a close group of friends, with the added connotation of what we'd like to do to CJ if he annoys us too much with his abrupt chapter endings (I'm not calling them cliffhangers, because he'll just deny using them....)

Hi, Dalmatia, I enjoyed Wales when I was living in England. I was staying near the border and made a number of weekend trips into Wales, sightseeing I can appreciate why you wouldn't want to move. I'm from Victoria, Australia. I live on the fringes of Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria and get to experience both urban and rural life as a consequence. My intention is to retire in the house we're currently living in -- I love this area that much. Australia isn't perfect, but overall, I don't think I'd want to live permanently anywhere else. I had a year living in the UK, which I enjoyed, but it was still a novelty at the end. I've spent some time in the USA on business trips, and again, I think it would be a nice place to live, but I prefer the fewer people, the wider open spaces and the more relaxed atmosphere of Australia. The main problem with this place is that it's physically so isolated from the rest of the world. Communication-wise, we're close (as witnessed by this post), but travelling anywhere is so expensive....

I like "Clan James" I can imagine some poor, impressionable young person standing up and saying, "I'm a proud member of Clan James" We are Clan James -- that's my vote (so far, subject to change without notice. Please read the product disclosure notice carefully before signing).

CJ still thinks he's a beginner author and the more people who tell him otherwise, the sooner the truth will sink in We know that we have little, if any, influence on what is going on, but because our beloved goat has such a twisted mind, it's fun to try to second guess what is going on. Most of the time we get it hopeless wrong, but sometimes we get it right Now, this raises a question that I put to CJ a while ago, and he dodged... We have Domaholics for the Dom Luka fans, and Danimals for the dkstories fans. What is the correct term for a C James fan? If people are interested in making suggestions, we can start a new thread to collate the ideas.
