  1. The fuse is long but it’s been lit, and now we wait …

    Terminated

Late finish for me but let me add my name to the many criers hoping for a second book. High or low numbers or whatever, we enjoyed this story. C’mon, be a pal!

    “The Roof”

And so it begins … finally. These two are meant for each other and I mean that wholeheartedly. Even so, don’t fault me for keeping my fingers crossed. What a superb chapter. The pacing, the lovemaking, the open honesty. A slow climb to a perfect moment.
  5. I hate people who weaponize competition. Games are supposed to bring people together, not pit them against one another and drive them apart. Ash’s father needs a good kick in the crotch, preferably by someone wearing cleats.

    “Bruise”

I can’t describe the exact feeling I get of watching these two fumble around in the dark while falling in love but it’s somewhere in the vicinity of heartwarming. I also feel like I’m privy to something quiet and precious, and I’m waiting for you to sneak up behind me and whack me upside the head. Probably with a Pellicorp monogrammed bat. Whatever this is, I can’t put it down.
  7. Seems to me, what Ash is missing in a man is the opposition Noah represents. As alike as they are, they clashed and challenged one another, and much of it was unsaid. A natural flow between them, as well as a tantalizing amount of friction. Anybody else is too easy. His love life notwithstanding, I’m glad Noah has settled into college life and lucked into friends like Kora and his band mates. High school, especially the end, was so isolating for him. It’s great to see him nurturing that ember of independence into something lasting. Something tells me the boys will bump into each other (repeatedly, vertically, and horizontally). The worst part (for me) is waiting for it to happen! (Hint hint writefasterharderstronger)
  8. Love looks good on Elliot and I can see why Priya is worried for him. Love (with a splash of vino) makes him honest in a way he normally isn’t and brave in the manner of lowering his defenses. He puts himself out there on a ledge, arms thrown wide, and allows the other man to control whether he falls or not. Theo, so far, hasn’t allowed him to plummet but Ian Pellicorp’s grip may be different. If some sort of triangle develops, I hope our favorite security guard fights for his man. The anticipation is making me all tingly. Another great chapter!
  9. Noah is proof positive that diligence and hard honest work actually can pay off in the end. Grab hold of that spotlight and ride it all the way to the professionals.

    “Rounds”

The buildup was had nothing on that explosive culmination . . . and it’s only the beginning! That’s the crazy part. You’re doing to us what Theo did to Elliot and, yeah, okay, no complaints. Carry on.
  11. Their draw is definitely magnetic — to us and to one another. Excellent work so far!
  12. The suspense! After her appearance in the last chapter and her cameo in this one, I’m gonna like Harper. She seems like the kind of sister who’d sit down beside you and keep poking your arm just to mess with you. Pesky but endearing. Sky and Beau will be fun to watch once he comes home. The fact that Gator has claimed him tells us all we need to know about him as a (decent) person in the broadest sense but I’m excited to see how the puzzle pieces of his personality fill in the spaces. And Wyatt continues to make me wish I was a horse so he’d ride me hard and put me away wet. Hahaha. Keep ‘em coming!
  13. Regardless of the intimate scenes, you did indeed give us wholesome and in the best way possible. Are you considering a sequel or companion piece? This little universe you created deserves more exploration.
  14. I agree with @william lester! It’s getting good already and I need more.

    Chapter 11

What a cliffhanger (no pun intended)!
  16. Professor Stomps: “This sh*t is bananas, Grace.” When things get heavy in this race against time, how about a chapter from the stuffed animal’s perspective? An adventure where he teaches Grace how to kneecap Rachel. Fingers crossed Ben can plead with his family and ask — no, demand — for one thing for himself. It’s clear Julian makes him happy, so why not? And if they say no, trigger the Professor Stomps Protocol.
  17. I’m sure she thinks the world of him . . . once she’s unboxed and inflated.
  18. Too bad Julian can’t fork his memories, etc. to a secondary storage and keep it synced as a backup in case something happens. Or maybe he can.

    Chapter 10

Part of me wonders if that bigger creature isn’t the progenitor and what they encountered earlier was one of its young. If it strayed from the nest, then there’s a good chance that nest is what Our Heroes will find in the valley between those peaks. Having the extra bodies, weapons, and powers isn’t a bad idea in that case. Maybe they’ll happen upon the air user on the way.
  20. Julian at family dinner: That couldn’t have gone better in my opinion. Ben’s family absolutely needed to hear about their negative impact on his life, and so what if that truth was inconvenient. My mom had a friend just like Diane. She’d gather opinions like vegetables from a garden and pelted you with them. And if you dissented or countered her with cold, hard facts, suddenly you were attacking her and how could you. Ben’s mother needs a different hobby, something less dangerous like taste testing cyanide.
  21. Mason doesn’t need new boots; he needs a boot to the ass. Preferably steel toed as requested. As hummingbird hearted as Ben is for Julian after one day, I can only imagine how enamored he’ll be once his companion starts putting his family in line. And, I dare say, with dinner and the movie and putting the girls to bed, you gave us wholesome as advertised!
  22. Personally, I can’t wait for Julian to meet Vera. The other adults (aside from Ben himself) can take a flying leap, preferably somewhere without cell reception … While he’s got that sewing kit out, maybe Julian can slap together a muzzle for one of the siblings. Or both. He’s crafty!

    29: Finley

Could Emmett live with the guilt of breaking such a sweet man’s heart? Especially after Mo literally tore a hole in Ben’s soul by leaving him. Not that I’d blame him. As you said, he had no say in becoming Finley’s and that could very well be a point of contention. If there has to a meltdown, I nominate Tony to talk some sense into him. Or even Mo. *gasp* In this one not, I'm afraid, though I found quite some different versions, even like everytime they heal someone, they give part of their life(time). Here’s a thought: Bomb’s ritual. Give Emmett half of Finley’s life force, share it with him. . . or rip it out of Bomb. (Yeah, I said it.)
