rustygrooves commented on Dodger's story chapter in Chapter 128 You're All Crazy!
128 chapters is all it took to make me hate this story... -
RIP - Comicality - May 1975 -- April 2024
rustygrooves commented on Myr's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Can't really put my own words here - so I'll quote Com speaking as Billy C from Book1: "I'm in one of my moods today. Not a bad mood, really. But not a good mood either. It's one of those days where you just want to do 'something'...but you have absolutely no idea what that 'something' is. I'm inspired to make a move, but not motivated to make a move. I'm sure this feeling leaves you once you get older. At least I hope it does. I'd hate to think that this is normal. Not much to say today. A wasted entry for this little journal of mine? Nah. I suppose everything is important in its own way. Who knows, I might look back on this someday and be glad that I wrote it. Even the little, unexplained, moments of life can be kinda cool at times when you look at them from a different perspective. Later!" (Loved the guy and not sad he leaves so much work unfinished - it's a metaphor for his life, as I see it) - peace to us all💔- 169 comments

" ... a certain sensual determination in its passionate presentation " is classic Comicality prose - it's why I always come back for more - but the two-word phrase that will forever light me up is ..."sock feet" 💥 (sigh)

Made me giggle like I was 13 - hopefully that's what you were goin' for ...

Amazing that I can dislike all three of these characters - but I do.

I always had it bad for Johnny Quest ... no, really! I think maybe I still do actually 👦

"I like this story - thank you for sharing" ... (writing a comment is as simple as that)

Another happy ending (sigh) My favorite part is your description of Nick's "hairtrigger smile that just kind of bursts across his face when he sees you" - I smiled instantly at that, know exactly what that is, and love it just as much as Jesse does ...

You do a really great job with these short stories - maybe it's because I have always preferred this form of writing, but I think you have a special affinity for the structure of it - setting the scene, building the conflict, adding some drama, and finally hitting that climax - if you think about it, the story form really mirrors the content - another great read ... so, thanks ☺️

Chapter 35 - Chance Encounters II
rustygrooves commented on Comicality's story chapter in Chapter 35 - Chance Encounters II
It's been said here before, but I'm going to say it again - Artie and Scotty will have their own "sequel/spin-off" story eventually - they are just too good of characters to play second string - but take your time, finish this story first, and then I'll start harrassing you in earnest for the next! -
A new favorite for me - clever using the opposite perspective, and dynamic enough to reflect the rapid pace of his thoughts - it left me feeling all glowy inside - thanks!

Another "complete" joy of a tale - I was, at first, a bit worried about where it was going, but where it ended up is just fine with me ... thank you sir.
-
Cool story dude - but seriously, I really enjoyed the analogy of the garbage can and the leaking roof - so well crafted I wondered if it may have been your starting point for the whole tale - thanks for another "complete" master(magic)piece💥

As some previous comments I've posted will attest, I've found this story frustrating, but also compelling and well enough written to get me to its end. But once again I'm going to protest to what I don't "get" - this story, in my opinion, would have ended beautifully at the end of the previous chapter - Rory decides to stay, resolving the story's central conflict, and everyone goes home with a smile on their faces. Why in the world the author chose to conclude this tale with this horrific tragedy, with all the characters touched if not scarred by the events, well... I just found it unnecessary - not that every story has to have a happy ending, but this story was rife with angst and conflict throughout - so it was perfectly poised, in my opinion, to do that final about face and end on a happy note. Instead, it spirals into a dismal and depressing anticlimax that left me, quite frankly, disturbed.

One thing I've yet to figure out with this story - "home" is Nevada - which just happens to be adjacent to Arizona - I mean, you can pretty much drive from Vegas to Phoenix in a day, or from Reno to Flagstaff in about the same - I've done both - so why all the drama? He could go back and forth on weekends for cryin' out loud ...

Chapter 34 - The Level Of Wow
rustygrooves commented on Comicality's story chapter in Chapter 34 - The Level Of Wow
Thank you kindly for this new chapter Mr. Cality - looking forward to the next and the next and the next and the ... -
Honestly, even Aaron - he's a lot like a boy (or two) I've loved and lost in my past - flawed but fondly remembered - I hope to think of Rory in that way by the time this tale concludes ...
