What a journey this book has been! The deal between Will and Zach astounds me. And sad to say, I think Will’s right, it’s only a matter of time before Zach strays. Ah well, I can’t wait to read it when it happens. I’m looking forward to Will and Marie’s Excellent Adventure being freshmen in Boston, with Matt and Wade. Thank you Mark, for all of your stories, they are my favorites on this site. I am in awe by what you have created.

This chapter opened and ended with a bang 😂 Happy New Year Mark!

Happiest holidays to you, and thanks for the CAP and Bridgemont series! Still going strong into 2024. I wonder if Evil Zach is going to come back 😈

When the cops begin, who’s going to lose their cool? Stefan, where art thou 😘

I love this messy Buck family. Can’t wait to see how Big’s interest in mining rare-earth metals intersects with Will’s investment in Facebook…

Is it me, or does Brad seem to be getting back on an even keel? I hope so! Calm Brad means warrior Brad, and I hope he’s up for some ass kicking. Also, how sweet that Claire and Jack are dating. When the kids grow up, sometimes you have to choose each other all over again.

It makes me so happy that Jacob and Soullen are bonding like brothers. I can’t wait to read what happens next!

Anytime I reread parts of CAP, the scene where Matt meets Robbie in person at the Malibu house and they put it together just how they’re all related, and Brad dies of laughter, always makes me laugh as if I’m reading it for the first time.

Bravo to Brad! This is a little glimpse of battle Brad that I love so much. His use of the tape as leverage reminds me of Elizabeth Danfield’s note in Millenium. I find it interesting that Will ended his relationship with Zach over physical violence, and in this chapter he inflicts physical violence on Travis - shoving him down on the bed, then shoulder-checking him later. I hope Will has a moment to reflect on this when he calms down. He would not tolerate someone doing either of these things to him (except maybe his brothers.) So…who’s the father??? 🍿

What is it with French authority and CAP characters? Quelle horreur!

Same here - but the issue with William makes that seem impossible now. It makes her handling of Alexander’s name change even more suspect.

I was hoping for Caroline’s plight to improve, but with this chapter, all hope is lost. She had to know that George would hear of William’s tale. A reminder to George that he is going to have to personally check off all the parts of his life that Caroline can touch, to determine what she has set in motion and what he needs to address. Her father’s illness and death has impacted her so greatly, it’s like she’s forgotten her roles as wife and mother, and identifies so strongly as her father’s daughter. You can see this if you go back through all of her letters, in this story and maybe at the end of Valiant, where she first reports her father’s illness. She made following her father’s final wishes her mission, which is bizarre given how strongly she was determined to escape his influence by marrying George in the first place. In all her recent mistakes you can see that she is such a modern character - unsatisfied with her husband’s long absences; capably handling politics and the economy of their estates; not finding her identity through her children but within herself. All the things we expect in modern society but not at all common in her time. Cavendish was right, she wants to be a man, and so long as George is gone, she can be, though perhaps by leaving such discontent in her wake, her world was going to start to fall apart before George’s return home. George has surrounded himself with men as he’s put his house into its new order. I wonder if he’s ever going to allow a woman to get close to him again. Maybe he really does need Davina’s help. A Cavendish sighting always makes my day. He and Mr Anton, do tell!

So many allusions to your Bridgemont series! I love it! It’s fun to see Will and JP teaming up for an adventure. And if there’s anything Brad needs right now, it’s a good fight. I miss his POV.

What a sad moment - when Jacob got his phone back and Q was still on the line 😔

I loved The Brotherhood years ago on Nifty, and just today found this sequel! I love Jacob and can’t wait to see more of how he interacts with his pledge brothers. And Soullen, I love that brat prince 🥹

First time commenting, ever! I’ve been following your stories since I found CAP on nifty a long time ago. I’m always thrilled when a new chapter gets posted on any of your stories. That said, I love the Bridgemont series. I reread the whole thing once a year, and have just done so. I’m compelled to write a review to, first, thank you for sharing your imagination with the world, and two, finally chime in. I cannot believe the state of things between George and Caroline! It’s essential that they meet in person to re-center their empire. I agree with Caroline’s statement, she felt like they had agreed to do just that, so that George would know her positions, from her own mouth. His official separation must be a complete shock to her. I also understand George, and his reasoning for his actions. She allowed him to be blindsided in front of his peers, and failed to remember the nature of the man she married. He’s a warrior, and she has never won a battle with him. What she thought was politics, to George was an attack. I cannot WAIT to find out what happens next! I am excited to read what role Davina will play. I think it’s going to be surprising. Cavendish is her cousin, and he said that matters. What is going on with St Vincent? What troubles lurk here? I think George’s twin windfalls, from Lady Kendal and Tsar Alexander, will be as burdensome as they are welcome. That kind of fortune will drive others mad. I’m ready to play the Bridgemont drinking game - whenever someone pours someone a glass, I pour a glass too, and toast the King 👑
