Neil's school life may still be in tatters, but a time spent with his father and husband will do all the world of good, whilst Lucas' somewhat unstable life has turned to complete shit.

I have just learnt something. I had never heard of thenar eminence. I thought it must have been a typo or you had had a few beverages or spliffs or were taking the piss. I have found that has been happening to me quite a bit lately on my useless work laptop (a 10" piece of shit, the brand of which I probably cannot mention).

I was forced to use an iPad once when I had to race one of my now deceased cats to an emergency hospital in August 2020. I do not drive and luckily the hospital was not far from where I live so 56 year old me (at the time) was running up the road with her in her carry cage. I got there and was told I had to fill all her details in on an iPad as both she and I were new to the hospital. I am hopeless with track pads (there is a reason why the mouse was invented), am finding it increasingly difficult to complete tasks which require precise fine motor skills (undoing fussy buttons on shirts or tying my shoelaces at times is enough to instigate a plethora of expletives) and am not known for my patience at the best of times. I was already distraught about Kiki's health (my regular vet thought it may have been liver cancer), so to be told I had to do this was annoying to say the least. I persisted for a while but in the end threatened to throw the fucking thing at the wall and refused to complete it. Luckily the specialist vet also agreed with me that it was annoying and lots of people found it a challenge to complete all the necessary details on a fucking iPad. I thought for the amount of money I ended up spending in a week (about $10K) I deserved a break. Suffice to say when she passed away last February from a suspected brain tumour at the age of 17, I raced her to a recently opened emergency hospital even closer to home where the staff recognised my distress and could not have been lovelier. Her passing (she was put to sleep) was peaceful and very quick. Just writing this is bringing tears to my eyes. Her "sister" Zelda, who is my profile picture, also passed away at the same hospital 2 and half months later from lymphoma of the liver and spleen.

I had to laugh at Marcus' revelations to his friends at the conclusion of the chapter. It's no small wonder they were getting somewhat confused and impatient with him, he was all over the place, like he was coming down from a jerk-off high. He reminded me of a friend whom I used to work with. In conversation she frequently jumps from one topic to the next, often the topics are completely unrelated, without drawing breath. She also has a habit of continuing on from a conversation you may have had with her some time beforehand as if you had only discussed it 5 minutes prior. She is like a whirling dervish; my brain often "aches" after chatting to her as I think WTF was that all about. It was pleasing to see Don emerging a little further from his shell. I had an image of him as a baby tortoise, poking its head out for the first time to see what is going on in the outside world. I have also been very impressed with several of the boys who have commented that his "chunky" build and small dick should not matter to anyone who cares about him. Children are invariably so cruel to those who are different, so this is quite remarkable. I like all of the boys so far, although Rod is a bit too full of himself at times I think. He also appears to be the one who is most concerned about doing anything which could be perceived as being "gay". Is this perhaps a reflection of his own views or the views of his parents? @Lee Wilson likely knows and I am sure he will reveal all in good time if there is any substance to my observation. And at last, something an iPad could be useful for. Personally I hate the fucking things as I find them clumsy and difficult to use (which probably says more about me). I have no problem using my Mac laptop (it's 12 years old and still works like a dream) and am reasonably competent at using my iPhone 6 (laugh all you want those who have to have the latest of everything), but iPad's piss me off.

I am trying to recall if you have ever given a description of Stinky's physical appearance. I don't think you have, but for some reason I have had a very strong picture of him resembling a young Angry Anderson when Rose Tattoo first emerged with Bad Boy For Love. Not a genre of music I usually enjoy at all, but there was something about that song that did appeal, a bit like quite a few AC/DC songs, but only those with Bon Scott as lead vocalist.

I think they are a very English use of the words @drsawzall. I have seen the former because I have been working with solicitors for the past 8 years and I also vaguely recall hearing it used in an English TV show, This Life, which was popular in the UK and Australia in 1996 and 1997. The latter I have definitely seen in print before, maybe in something by D H Lawrence.

Many of my fellow pony fans are concerned Mike may have been harmed by Stinky Shane. I don't think he is that stupid, at least not yet. I strongly suspect Mike has been threatened though, and the threat was serious enough, that Mike has either left town or is laying low for a while to see if Stinky makes any further threats to Grayson and/or Rafael. I hope Grayson sends another text to Mike now to let him know what he and Rafael have just experienced. I doubt it is something the police could and/or would do anything about, unless they have been able to link Grayson's assault to Stinky. The carpark management were certainly very remiss in not informing staff of the closure of the top level. I hope Rafael will be a little more cautious now when riding his motorcycle. Stinky's return does not bode well for Grayson and Rafael. He almost certainly has further harassment planned at the very least.

Calvin's introspection was very reassuring not only for himself but for we readers too @VBlew. I am sure @drsawzall will be pleased to read his examination of his relationship with Alan, and very well may find the following statement as amusing and long overdue as I did, particularly the text in bold: "But over time, he has softened a bit with me. He has kissed me a couple of times. He has touched, even stroked my erection a couple of times. He cuddles and snuggles and sleeps against me all night. Often. And recently he said he might be bi. I can’t tell if he’s developing romantic feelings for me or if it is just a greater comfort with being intimate with a guy". An excellent chapter @KKirk. Calvin is far more relationship savvy than one would be entitled to believe given his inexperience and youth. I loved his comment about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. I am like Calvin, 100% gay, but I can recognise a beautiful woman, and I have never understood the attraction she apparently has.

Only if he wants to. Perhaps a jerk-off session between Vince and Graham will bring them closer together, semen-t their relationship as brothers.

I would expect no less. Matt reminds me somewhat of Colin, Keith and Thomas. He has their lack of confidence, social awkwardness and vulnerability, but appears to be younger than the three. If he and Graham do form something more than a friendship, perhaps Matt and his mother can move into the mansion too, mother may have the domestic skills required to run the household.

I found much humour in this chapter @Robert Hugill; the humour in the conversation between Vince and his friend Dawn, and humour in the letter written by Graham to his friend Bas. I was surprised though Vince made the comment to Dawn about his relationship with Graham: “I thought I’d make the effort, try to get to know my brother for the first time.” “And how is that going?” “Fucking annoying. Thank God he’s in the annexe.” It appears the two are getting along quite well, both realising they have been praised by their father to the other, whilst receiving nothing like praise directly from him. Divisive old coot with an ego matching that of Margaret Hilda (I am reasonably sure he would have been a fan of hers). I am certain there is an attraction to Graham on Matt's part, but his difficult financial circumstances appear to have put a real dampener on his confidence and self-perception of his appeal. I sense kindred spirits in that both are lost, at a bit of a loose end in life. I for one would like to see something more than friendship develop between the two, a good snogging session to start the ball rolling at least. I like the direction this story is going in @Robert Hugill. Another fine addition to the already impressive Hugillverse.

The 12" single is vastly superior to the shorter version which was released as a single (it came in at 4.43 in comparison to the 12" single at 11.46). It was a #1 smash in 1979 @chris191070 when you were much younger than I was. I have read Barbra's son Jason Gould was a big fan of Donna's and urged Barbra to record the song with her. Barbra was allegedly not a disco fan, although she had had a big hit with Fight (The Main Event), the theme song from The Main Event, earlier in the year. Two of the biggest divas at the time, both adored by gay men, a guaranteed hit. It raced to the top of the charts in the USA very quickly. Donna had already hit #1 in 1979 with Hot Stuff and Bad Girls, # 2 with Dim All The Lights and # 4 with Heaven Knows (which had followed Macarthur Park and its parent album, Live And More, both of which hit #1 in late 1978), and her Bad Girls album had also been a #1 smash.

Is it ever enough when you are "witnessing" the talents of Donna, Barbra, @chris191070 or Henry? I for one don't think enough is EVER enough. This is still one of my favourite 12" singles of all time.

Solomon is in serious need of an enema. The stench of piety is overbearing and said piety has constipated his colon as well as his mind. If he does not get help soon all that toxic envy and judgment will surely lead to bowel cancer. Matthew's mother finally spoke and her words of sorrow and regret were as pitiful as they were infuriating. She needs to release her inner Carrie, Annie Wilkes and Alex Forrest, and put the "fear of God" in Solomon at the very least, or at best put him in a coma or a cheap pine box. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Praise for this story has been universal, and rightfully so @empath. The fact you have maintained the quality of writing you have, in a story which I have often found exacting to read (and this is by no means a criticism of you or your story telling, quite the opposite in fact), is testament to not only your meticulous attention to detail and literary skills, but I believe even more importantly your sense of courage and justice. I admire you for having found the mental strength to persist in telling this harrowing tale. I have absolutely no doubt what you have portrayed in this story is a fictional account of what happens across the globe daily, and in far greater numbers than depicted herein. I also have absolutely no doubt there are governments and people/organisations in powerful positions who turn a blind eye to human trafficking because it is either too hard to resolve, or those being trafficked are mainly the unwanted, boys like Arturo and Micah, the offspring of hookers, or the offspring of penniless, often illegal immigrants. The trafficking of humans, like the trafficking of non-human animals, for any purpose is obscene, the real "abomination" which plagues Planet Earth. As @Paladin kindly mentioned, I have become increasingly impressed with Rocky and Orlando and their unorthodox contribution to relieving the trash of humanity of their ill-gotten "gains" and then cleaning up the shit left behind, in most cases the shit being the trash itself. I was very impressed with their actions in this chapter, and the bloody arrows pointing to where the rescued boys were, added a disturbingly pleasing and macabre touch. I am certain they have done some appalling things in their lives, but in this chapter they showed a strength and moral purpose unparalleled. And frankly, who is to say their past criminal behaviour is any worse than that of some with obscene wealth, or some presidents of nations or corporations, or some members of prominent families, all of whom are often admired for their leadership or upstanding moral characters.

Very good point @pvtguy. I certainly jumped to the conclusion it was carpark management who did so to stop the hoons, but what if it was Stinky Shane and/or one or more of his goons who did so with the intention of harming Rafael at least.

Forget who shot JR in Dallas or who was killed in the Moldavian massacre in Dynasty, this is a cliffhanger of gargantuan proportion. I just wonder if @weinerdog knew this was going to happen, courtesy of his crystal ball, as his comment seems rather calm and measured. I suspect Rafael will see the chain at the last minute and either jump off his motorcycle or somehow lay it down sideways. Whatever action he takes, I imagine he and/or his motorcycle will suffer some minor damage at least. He may need to change his underwear and I suspect Grayson may need to change his too. If nothing else comes of this almost certain accident, it may convince Rafael not to gun his motorcycle at the bottom of the ramp and race up it like the hoons he and Grayson have criticised. The family discussions, particularly those between Richard, Uncle Bryan and Grayson were very moving, and a real testament to how far and how quickly Richard has progressed. His change of heart appears genuine too, not a change of heart to placate anyone else or keep the peace in the family. Although his change of heart has been drastic, it has not been unbelievably so, and this is due to the manner in which you have presented it @Mark Ponyboy Peters. Oliver's little display of affection was delightful too. Are you sure he is only 10 years old @Mark Ponyboy Peters?

I found Uncle Roger's sense of humour very appealing, even though it was very un-pc, particularly the comments about the boys going to have their hair and nails done, and then asking them if they were ready for the Barbie convention. I had to research what a Dave & Buster's is though. They appear to be very colourful establishments.

As soon as I read this conversation, particularly the statement in bold, I knew the time had arrived. Replete with Kate shrieking like a banshee and male backing vocalists eeyore-ing like a donkey, all set to an incessant tribal rhythm. Truly spectacular from her album, oft considered "she has gone barking mad" album. Sheer genius. And Russ Kahn, doing his best Kevin Williams (and many other male porn stars in gay porn since) impersonation. A double penetration which required a great deal of concentration and a remark it was a one-off, well at least until next time. Russ also displayed a good sense of humour when Brian raised the query of photographs taken of party goers in compromising positions which could be used at a later date as leverage. At first it appeared Russ was offended, but then he took it in his stride and tret (I used it again @Robert Hugill) it as it was intended. His disdainful comment about right-wing American politicians fucking young men and then publicly denouncing the gay community with contempt was superb and very timely. Excellent chapter, with much humour and again some of your delightful and witty architectural examinations. And the title of this story @Robert Hugill, again I read it incorrectly as I did when the first chapter was published. It was a comment made by @pvtguy which alerted me on the first occasion that the story is not titled Brian and Gordon: living in trees. I thought that title was clever on your part, a reference to living with Toby and his fascination for nature.
