I was thinking Colt too @chris191070, but will anyone believe him. If he is quick enough and smart enough to film it on his phone he would surely have to be believed. I don’t trust George or the sheriff though, so it may take intervention of the law from outside the town to bring George to justice.

If George is raping Noah as I fear I hope he is caught doing it, but by whom I am not sure. Although it will be embarrassing for Noah to be observed being raped, I fear if Noah reports it he will not be believed given George is apparently a respected school principal. If it his mother who witnesses the rape I just hope she does not turn a blind eye to it, or believe her husband if he says Noah instigated sex between them. The other thing I fear is she may already know it is going on and has already turned a blind eye to it.

I know it is not kosher to hit a girl/woman, but it must take all the willpower Colt has not to thump Rylee. She becomes more annoying every time she opens her mouth, which is far too often. I had to laugh at the thought of her as a waitress. With her snotty and superior attitude she would not last one evening as a waitress. “That’s what I’m afraid of most,” Noah said, and he didn’t meet Colt’s gaze as he spoke. “I hate being locked up, alone, with my stepdad.” “What does he do to you?” Colt asked. Noah shook his head. “ You wouldn’t believe me.” I have only just noticed this evening that one of the "tags" for this story is rape. I fear rape is what George is doing to Noah when he is locked up, and when he is allegedly sick he is recovering from being raped. If so, hopefully his mother will go all Lorena Bobbitt on George sooner rather than later.

This is very helpful information @Mark Ponyboy Peters, especially for we readers with analytical minds and for Libran's (my star sign) who like everything to balance and be just so. You hinted at this timeline in Traditions, but seeing it written so decisively is much appreciated. I had mistakenly believed Matt was now the owner of the service station and did not realise Don owned both the auto shop and a service station. A small detail yes, but I like to have the "full picture".

Noah, definitely, Amy perhaps. As for Rylee, why waste resources on her. The best "therapy" for her would be strychnine or digitalis.

You are likely correct @SilentandBroken that Amy has her own agenda. She is very clingy and eager to be liked and fit in with the clique. Unlike Rylee, Christina, Tyler and Brett she does not appear to be totally self-absorbed and homophobic, but deception may be part of her agenda. If Colt does come out as gay I think Brett will be the one to watch. Tyler is all talk I think. Christina and Rylee will verbally bully him, but it may be lost on him as I don't think he will give a fuck what they think.

Not even death will redeem her @mastershakeme, although she will at least no longer be speaking.

It still maintains a minimum of "mystery" though @Gary L. On the right physique it could still be somewhat "seductive". It would presumably prevent sunburn on some rather precious jewels too. And they are the national garment of Kazakhstan too. LOL.

I have never been one to believe in miracles @mastershakeme, but a miracle certainly occurred in this chapter. Rylee lifted a finger to help with household chores and apparently did not complain about it. Perhaps she was still stoned and thought by cleaning the dishes she would have a clean plate for later to snort a line of coke off or a bowl to mix some weed in. I still detest her though, even though she did something which was not all about herself. I don't think Amy is a slut, I just think she is desperate for attention and/or affection and will do anything to get it. Noah's harsh judgment of her as a slut has all the hallmarks of George having bullied him into thinking this. The sooner George has that cardiac arrest or a life threatening spike in his glucose levels, the better it will be for everyone in his life.

I speculated they may be friends @dboggs9700 because of their similar ages, their positions of authority within the community and the fact both appear to be arseholes and bullies. I can imagine both being part of an "old boys network", believing themselves to be untouchable because of their positions of authority.

A purely speculative notion, but I could see Mrs Hamilton having a positive impact on young Levi's life when he presumably moves to live with Matt and the gang at Beachside Lane, Thompsonville, just as she did on all the boys when they first moved there all those years ago. I wonder if a move to Thompsonville is on the cards for Matt's parents? They are presumably approaching retirement age, and the city upon which Macquarie Harbour is loosely based is the retiree capital of NSW. My speculative juices are stirring already after this chapter @Mark Ponyboy Peters. I sense this is going to be another "classic". A quiet achiever like SOS or The Name Of The Game.

The best treatment for hay fever in the current climate is dark chocolate and plenty of it @Mark Ponyboy Peters. A large cup of organic hot chocolate or double chocolate chip cookies or a block of dark chocolate. I have recently bought vegan dark chocolate and whilst it was quite tasty, it was not quite the same as non-vegan dark chocolate which does usually have a little bit of dairy in it.

I suspect Luke will take it in his usual calm and measured manner. It will be a great shock at first, but his selflessness will overcome the shock quickly and he will step up to the mark to welcome Levi into the Beachside Lane family.

No surprises. I have proven myself to be a twat again. I was way too harsh in my judgment of Julie's motivations for keeping Matt's son, now revealed to be Levi, whom I assume is the same Levi Toby will have moments of intimacy with in a few years time, a secret. Julie's motivations for keeping Levi a secret from Matt were not selfish, although the result of her motivations was at least partially selfish, particularly the impact it has had on Levi, who will shortly be thrust into a world with his father whom he had never heard of or met until now. I am still pissed off with Matt's parents though, particularly his mother. They could have handled the request he visit far more sensitively than they did. What a beautifully and sensitively written chapter @Mark Ponyboy Peters, not overly melodramatic or emotionally overwrought, yet I found myself "hay fever challenged" again. I don't like children as a general rule, and although Levi is no longer a child, I found myself feeling a great deal of sadness for him. He faces a significant challenge to adjust to life with Matt and Luke. I wonder who it will be who will poison his mind with anti-gay rhetoric? My assumption that it would be Julie seems to have been way off the mark. And what of Julie, ovarian cancer, an insidious disease which will kill her sooner rather than later it seems. I found myself reassessing her as a person too, a teenage girl who found herself in a position she thought she could handle by herself, and to her great credit it did not make her feel any bitterness towards Matt.

I wait with bated breath for the next murder. There is an embarrassment of riches as to who is a deserved candidate. Death by frenzied stabbing, a fencing foil with tip sharpened rather than blunted? Death by poisoning, the victim's evening meal laced with mezereon? Death by electrocution, a heater thrown into a bath whilst its occupant is luxuriating in bubbles? Something to look forward to in this institution with a disproportionate number of privileged, spoilt narcissists. Future political candidates; billionaire industrial thugs and bullies; environmental rapists. Truly horrid people most of this cast @Laura S. Fox.

My reaction to Neil's temper tantrum, subsequent jealous episode and current surly ignoring of Alex is best summed up by Alex's mother's response to Alex's alleged transgression: 'She smirked. “Well, in our little world you are. Neil is the one with issues and they are not Alex's issues to resolve for him. Neil is apparently morose and discontent at the moment according to his mother. Until he decides to put his big boy pants on and try to do something to help himself, no amount of worrying or extending an olive branch on the part of Alex is going to help Neil. Listen to the wise counsel of @Gary L, accept the friendship/relationship is over and move on.

Good point @dboggs9700, which has made me shudder to think George may be sexually abusing Noah. George is a slovenly, large, fat turd and Noah is a very small statured boy. It would probably not take a great deal of strength from George to restrain Noah whilst he rapes him. Noah may even think he deserves it as a punishment for being gay.
