Okay, I’m hooked. Great chapter, especially how you described the coma. It reminded me a lot of my own near death experience at 6 years old due to penicillin (Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis).

I’m glad to see Jonah and Christian are having a positive effect on Jack. As for a sequel, I’d love to see the boys exploring gay-friendly cities like Ann Arbor and Ferndale and meeting other queer kids. Also, I think Nick should get into therapy to work through grief re: his dad’s death and his anxiety/catastrophizing.
-
I take back what I said about sympathizing with Noah; he's a grade-A ass. As for Nick, way to jump to conclusions. Still, he didn't deserve that from Noah. But maybe this is exactly what he needs to grow as a person and accept his feelings for Jack. Also, I thought the surprise party for Nick was just precious, and hopefully Nick realizes now he has more people in his corner than he initially thought.

All aboard the feels train.Maybe now that the holidays are over, spring will bring romance for our boys Nicky and Jack. As for Noah, he can fornicate with a rabid wolverine.

I know Nick is only 14, but I’m struggling to emphasize with him, especially after this chapter. Jack deserves better than Nick’s noncommittal ass. And if he knew what was good for him he’d get with Jonah ASAP. Also, Noah was a huge ass for pressuring Nick into sex, then running up on him acting like he didn’t start the rumor they slept together. Jack was a bit of dick to Nick after he came back from the aborted hook up with Noah, but I get why. Like these boys need someone to knock some sense into them and fast.

This is hilarious.

While I sympathize with Jonah, he brought this on himself. He didn’t have to go to Victor’s and prod him, and he certainly didn’t have to steal Victor’s phone. Like, act like you have a brain for a second. The Kildares as a whole have zero common sense and have done Jonah a great disservice by enabling his reckless behavior during his time with them. Victor is far from innocent himself and while his feelings for Will don’t excuse his actions at all, I can’t help sympathizing for him just a bit. He’s closeted and has been in love with his best friend for years, and here comes this new guy who has Will all twitter-pated. Given everything that’s happened, especially during this chapter, getting sent back to North Carolina is exactly what Jonah needs to teach him his actions have consequences.
-
Oh the drama. Victor is such a POS and needs to chill already. Also, loving the chemistry between Will and Jonah

Why must you toy with my emotions like this? Jk. But seriously, this is my new favorite story right now. Victor seems like a total douche and William is too good for him.

Always and forever, Though I endeavor, I’ll never do better. So, I’ll do whatever To get us back together. I miss your kiss, A ghost on my lips, Light as a feather Against my skin. This love is a battle I know I can win, So I’ll fight to the end And never surrender.

One day, Like Naruto, You’ll be Hokage, And everyone will say Your name. So lay claim To your fame. Cuz you ain’t made The same. They came To play, You came to slay. So they best come Correct, Or they getting wrecked. Cuz you chopping necks. For they disrespect. Make those suckers pay. Make ‘em rue the day They thought it okay To call ya out yo’ name. Have they No shame? This ain’t a game. So make ‘em pray As ya make ‘em pr

I was a fool. I knew it was too Good to be true. Still, I fell for you. I thought I was your boo But I was just someone you Used to screw. But like the devil, I’ll get my due. So, tell the gravedigger he better dig two. Cuz before the night is through, I’m coming for you. So revel in your win, Cuz the wages of sin Is death. When I’m through, there’ll be nothing left of you.

@E K Stokes Only you can decide if a story is worth completing, but gauging a story’s worth based on likes and views is a recipe for disappointment. Taste is subjective AF, e.g. Twilight and its bastard spawn Fifty Shades of Grey are bad from a technical and subjective point but have sold millions. What sells isn’t always good, and what’s good doesn’t always sell. It takes most writers something like 5 novels to “learn to write.” Hell, Stephen King literally threw Carrie, one of his early novels, in the trash because he thought it sucked. But Tabitha King convinced him to show it to his publisher, and it went on to be a best seller (4 million plus copies sold). My point is don’t let the opinions of online strangers dictate what you write (myself included). Social media has conditioned us to chase likes, hoping to go viral and become internet famous. But fame and reader tastes are fickle and ephemeral. Building a readership is hard AF and all writers struggle with this. However, you must write first for yourself, and remember why you became a writer in the first place. Let this reason, your raison d’écrire, guide you. Good luck with your story. 😀

Just write and the words will come. Just write until you're done. Just write and have some fun. Just write, Whether the crack of dawn Or dead of night. Just write, Whether the words are wrong Or right. Just write, Through the storm and the rain, Through all the pain. Whether plain or insane, Let your prose flow, And like a rose, Your confidence will grow. Just write

You’re Not Okay And That’s Okay
frozenphenix commented on frozenphenix's story chapter in You’re Not Okay And That’s Okay
@Parker Owens Thanks, Parker. You’re right, we need to be our brothers’, sisters’ , and nonbinary and trans folks’ keeper. Also, this came to me in my dreams last night as a song. What I could remember of it when I woke up I turned into this poem. This is like third time this has happened, so maybe the universe is telling me I need to take up music, lol. -
It’s okay to say You’re not okay. Cuz you pray And ya pray, But the silence remains The refrain And your pain Remains the same. Cuz tomorrow’s always a day away. And you can’t cope Cuz you're at the end of your rope Ready to nope out Cuz without a doubt You’ve lost all hope. I’ve been there And I’m here to share Someone cares. Your life may be a nightmare but don’t tap out.

Hellion health heretics hobble toward New Philistia, Uttering elegies for civility and humanity. Splayed before them is rationality; Retched, broken, brutalized, It lies Decrepit and decayed. Truth is an effigy ablaze. No fact laid bare is ever good Enough for them to care. They will not be dissuaded From their conspiracy theory crusade, Until they're intubated Or cremated. There's nothing more sublime Than you and I Making magic with our hips. Damn, you’re fine. An arch of your spine, Now you’re mine. Euphonious, Each moan drawn from your lips. My breath hitches as lower your hand dips. An ass that fine should be a crime, Felonious. Your kiss ambrosia, Your body en feugo. I never wanna le’go. Into you I slip ,slip ,slip. Deeper I dip , T

The needle breaks skin; the agony and ecstasy as the outline begins. The pain is temporary, but the design will always remind you Of all the shit you've been through. Each tattoo, old or new, is a totem, A mark from your heart That expresses your divine spark. Whether black and grey, technicolor; or red, white, and blue; Traditional, color realism, or new school, All tattoos are cool. Just make sure you don't get kanji thinking they mean strong

Shamed for who we kiss, We are the misfits Who slit our wrists, Because you taught us no one gives a shit. We are the iconoclasts Who will smash the past, The outcasts Who will outlast Your capitalist Cash grabs. We are the rejects Who speak out against injustice and racism, Who shout down your faux-gressivism Masking your corporatism, Neoliberalism, And systemic white supremacism You seek to protec

@Parker Owens Yeah, and with ai programs like chat GPT getting better every day at mimicking human-sounding writing, the competition is only going to get worse. I’ll probably always write but I don’t know if I’m cut out for this writer life. Not only do you have to release a million books a year to stay relevant, but you gotta be a marketing and social media expert too, I’m exaggerating, but it all gets a little much sometimes. What do you do when writing gets to be a drag?

I thought I was clever, But I never Get more than a, “Whatever.” So why endeavor? It’ll never get better. Might as well tender My letter Of resignation. Cuz I’m sick of life designating Me its punchline. No I’m not fine. I’m losing my mind. Cuz I’m tryna find A reason to be kind In a world hating And negating me. See, I’m debating Abnegating These haters Or waiting And

@AC Benus Yeah. I have a phoenix tattoo on my right arm that represents my inner strength and how I’ve overcome all the crap life’s thrown at me. In my fiction works all my characters display this same inner strength in one way or another. After reading this poem I hope people feel empowered to face whatever they’re going through right then.
-
@AC Benus Thanks for your comment. I’ve been writing poetry and other things since middle school and as I said at top of the chapter, my speech has improved dramatically since surgery to separate my vocal cords. How long have been writing poetry and how did you get your start writing it?
