Never! Seamus and Loe forever. I love their weird, unemotional but secretly devoted dynamic. I for one never expected to become the representative for a platonic ship I proposed as a half-joke. But like… the other half is not joking and I’m a wee bit obsessed with the idea of Loren and Seamus being friends. I mean, I think we all know that by now. Gosh I’m such a dork, but luckily we all are dorks for your writing here.

These. Two. Well everyone, we made it to paradise. It’s been a bit of a journey, some stormy seas, but I for one enjoyed the hell out of it. Thank you @Mrsgnomie for sharing this story, bringing us into Jay and Loren’s world. You handle these characters with tenderness, nuance and humor. It’s a joy to read, and especially to play with everyone in the comments. Sad to see it coming to an end but so grateful for what’s been the highlight of my Mondays and Thursdays for weeks and weeks!

Because I’m obligated… checking in from the deck of the SS Seamen: I’m telling you. These two have an unspoken understanding. Loren is helping Seamus relax about his kids by gently pushing the limits and giving them unforgettable experiences. Someday Seamus is going to be so grateful Loren is their uncle. Plus… free overnight babysitting again in this chapter so he and Matt can have uninterrupted boom-boom time. Now that’s BFF behavior for sure. AND don’t think it has escaped my notice that Carson is Seamus’ mini me, and his favorite person is Loren.

I’m just over here minding my business and suddenly I’m being thrust into a @kboisand @Mrsgnomie spat. Don’t make me take sides!

Read this last night at 3 am when I inexplicably couldn’t sleep, and it was the perfect bite of sweetness to settle my head! I came in expecting first love and thoroughly enjoyed the depiction of best friendship instead. You know I’m here for it 🥹 I’m impressed how much you packed into 1000 words!

What is this, English class??? jk jk jk I’ve been very interested in themes of friendship lately and it’s been coming out in my own writing and reading habits. I love romance but I might love platonic love stories even more at the moment. Put them together and it pushes all my buttons.

Ahoy mateys, this is your captain. I'm done hiding in the crows nest and back at the helm of the SS Seaman. Alright, let's start with the obvious. Loren knows he effed up, and he knows Seamus is mad. Now, of course Seamus' #1 BFF historically has been Jay. I know it, you know it, the guy who lives in a van down by the river knows it. It is known. However, let's think about this. Seamus and Matt have insisted Loren stay at their loft. Seamus may be mad at Loe, but maybe he's 1/2 mad because he hurt Jay, and 1/2 mad because he's watching his friend torch his life. You know that feeling. We all have been feeling it as we watch Loe fumble around. Maybe Seamus is really thinking "GET IT TOGETHER DUDE I WANT YOU GUYS TO WORK OUT!!!" We all know, Happy Matt = Happy Seamus. Loren is constantly stepping in to babysit, so much so that Matt doesn't actually have to ask. This is how much they trust and rely on Loren, even though he still doesn't think he's good with kids. He clearly isn't giving himself enough credit. Seamus is protective of his two tots, but he trusts Loren. I think he sees something in Loe that Loe doesn't see in himself. Ahhhhh the ol' put two cats in a sack and let them fight it out until they're done method. Seamus wants Jay and Loe to work out. Why? Because he loves them both. He loves Loren for Jay, and Jay for Loren. Case closed, BFFs for F.

So well written, you’re the queen! The first half was downright painful. How can Loren be so dumb? It’s rhetorical, we all know how and why he lacks a certain amount of emotional intelligence. I couldn’t even hate him or be mad at him. I just wanted to pat his head and go “oh honey… bless your heart. Those big gestures don’t mean shit right now.” He was in serious denial. Case in point: “They need to hear them, even if Jay ends up dumping my ass.” Boy, you already have been dumped! What do you think all this leaving you and sending you away stuff is? I loved that by the end, he’s finally coming around to understanding that Jay wants a deeper conversation and for him to want to commit, not just making gestures for the sake of getting out of trouble.

Has anyone actually tried the dirty Dr. Pepper? Just curious for an honest review.

Captain’s log, SS Seaman: How can Loren so casually throw it all away?! You know Seamus is going to be Team Jay and Loe is going to have to work five times harder to prove himself again. That might require an entire new book to show how their BFF for F friendship is rebuilt. I… need some time. This Ship isn’t as sea worthy as I thought. I’ll be in the crow’s nest drinking grog.
