Oooooo nothing but sideeye for Caleb from me. This is what happens when you don’t live your life in integrity! Admittedly I didn’t re-read the earlier chapters to remember how his relationship with Vann was portrayed, so y’all let me know if I’m way off base. BUT — how different would things have gone if he had taken responsibility for himself and raised Vann as his own. Sure, he didn’t know about him until Vann’s mom dropped him off, but after that he has no excuse! If he had personally adopted Vann, how different would it have been when Vann went missing? Others could have given him the support he needed so he wouldn’t be as vulnerable to being blackmailed. You can’t lead a pack if you don’t have your own life in order. Boy. Please. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes Caleb!

Ahhhhhh I just binge read this whole book! It’s so good! Bravo C. Henderson. The pacing, the mysteries, the love interests… all so well done! I won’t beg for you to hurry up and post your next chapter even though I realllly want to. Writing something like this takes time. So I’ll just say thank you for sharing such a great story! Can’t wait for more!

Going deep into an underground mine/mad scientist lair seriously gives me the heebie jeebies. I know they had no choice but it felt so dangerous! I was v nervous for them when they needed to go down to the secret sub level. Everyone knows that’s where monsters hang out! Thankfully it was just kids in need of rescue. Glad those kids are going to get taken care of. Looking forward to some revenge on the baddies!

Now I feel like I have to go back and read the bits about Caleb to figure out how sus he is….

I’ve worked in government and this sounds about right. If something doesn’t fit protocols people will dither around for YEARS trying to decide what to do about it…. Good on Essell for cutting through the BS. Also… Bouncer for president!
