Grammar Guide 21 - The End of the Sentence
imogene_arant commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
Lots of love/hate for interrobangs and ellipses in this thread but where my em dash people at?! I have an addiction to those suckers and if em dash abuse is wrong, I don’t wanna be right! You’ll pry them — if you really must — from my cold, dead body! -

There was an adorable post recently on the bi subreddit about a kid who was feeling anxious about coming out to his dads as bi. Like, he was 99% sure they’d have no problem with him being bi, but he was nervous anyway. That could be a cute coming of age story! For record, I would also feel weird about a love story featuring Aido Potato. But Mrs. G can probably pull anything off.

I mean, OBVIOUSLY that’s a big deal. Jay and Loren aren’t even engaged yet so essentially they’re genuinely choosing Loren as a godparent, not just “Jay with a side of Loren.”

Captain's log, SS Seaman, May 26, 2022: Today Loe said this and it's not hard to read between the lines: "...I trust that Seamus wouldn’t drag you into something because they want to use me for my thirty-eight million followers.” Looks like smooth sailing ahead, sailors!

I was literally sweating by the time Loe was in the hotel in Arizona, so nervous for him meeting Lars. I just wanna give Lars a hug. That poor, poor kid. He’s had everything so twisted for so long. Hopefully they can heal together and regain what was taken from them. Also curious why he asked if their parents had reached out. Hopefully it’s because they’re on their deathbeds.

Loved Bouncer being aloof and judgey when meeting the Kardoval. How can a character without speech serve up the most sass consistently?! The orbs were good to shake things up. I didn’t expect a physical attack at the dinner and I wonder what the aim was. Maybe it was the Kardoval trying to sow fear or show that Garjah has neglected his security duties. On the flip side it could have been the rebels or even Ases so they would have the opportunity to let Ases save everyone with his mech.

My first instinct was to tell you to walk the plank… but who am I kidding. You’re not passenger or crew on the boat. Who am I to tell the sea to do anything?! G’s gonna do what G’s gonna do. I’ll just hold onto the mast for dear life.

AHOY me hearties! Update from the SS Seaman: Seamus scrubs his face with his hand in frustration. “You clearly want—” “Stop.” “Why? You’re giving up—” “I said stop. It might be hard for you to understand, but I’m not giving up anything. Do I want kids? Of course. But not as much as I want Loren. Not even close. Trust me on this.” Seamus doesn’t say anything, but I can see it pains him to do so. Now, if I was a realllly crazy shipper, I’d say that Seamus is asking these questions only partly out of concern for Jay. The other part is that he sees how wonderful Loren is with kids and doesn’t want his real BFF to miss out. Instead I’ll just say…Sir, YOU are a passenger on the SS Seaman. This is not your port of call. You need to get back on that boat Seamus.

I had the same thought on Lars’ DM. The tone seems iffy. But at the same time there could be so many reasons for that right? I dunno, just over here anxiously waiting for Thursday.

This chapter was so sweet. All the love to MB and how doting the guys are with here! And I lovvvvvve Loren’s relationship with Aiden. How could you not? Their banter, his confession to Aiden, the way they watch funny cat videos…. Adorable. Two days later, Aidan is on the couch holding his brother, and he doesn’t even look angry about it. He’s warming up, thanks to Loren. My theory: only someone who’s not into babies can empathize with someone else who doesn’t love babies. And Aiden needed someone to love on him and let him know, ‘yeah, babies kinda suck but trust me he’ll be the most important person in your life one day.’ Whatever Loren said and did, it worked. He’s got a way with people, just like Jay says when he’s talking to MB about giving Carson back. Now. Lars. I don’t know how to interpret his message. I loved that Loe is bringing Jay along. There could be so many ways this goes right and so many it goes wrong. Loren has gone through years of therapy to get himself in a good place. Has Lars? I’m sweating on Loe’s behalf.

Four Men and a Lady Oven
imogene_arant commented on Mrsgnomie's story chapter in Four Men and a Lady Oven
Ok, firstly, I love this story and love you @Mrsgnomiebut I never ducking (quack quack love that autocorrect) want to read “lady oven” again. Fuckkkkk no. Nope. Nah. Uh uh. I appreciated that all the guys do appreciate, respect and care for MB though, so I know they’re just kidding. But like… this hasn’t been the month for reducing women carrying babies to machinery. Okay, rant over. WHO’S READY FOR A CRUISE ON THE SS SEAMAN?!!!!! You don’t need me to spell it out folks. Seamus trusts Loren with his unborn baby. That conversation was everything. So touching, so cute. Seamus also gets Loren — gets that this is a big ask of him. Unlike some of the other guys, Seamus understands what it’s like to have a checkered past like Loren has. And nowwwww he owes Loe a favor. A big favor…. 😏- 105 comments

Ok, before I comment on ANYTHING else, I have to say that I saw your comment before I read the chapter and I was low-key worried that Seamus and Loren had a fight. Thankfully and OBVIOUSLY that isn’t what you meant. #SeamanBFFsForever- 105 comments

OMG asking the real questions here. I wonder if the flip side of being treated like the golden child is that Jay has never said no to his parents. Or, maybe Jay just leaves his doors unlocked because he grew up in a sweet, idyllic Leave It To Beaver town?

Holy time warp, Batman! We missed a whole year?! You know we don’t want to miss a single second with these two… But, you know I loved this chapter! I think my favorite part is that despite his nightmares, Loren seems so settled into life with Jay. They’re driving to work together (cute), singing to the radio and holding hands. It’s good to see Loe happy and relaxed even after facing his fear of losing Jay to an injury. Maybe that newfound strength and stability are what helped him be ready to face Lars. Switching gears… This is your captain speaking from the S.S. Seaman: 1. Loren’s social media campaign against Seamus’ in-laws is working and he’s sticking with it until they win. 2. Loren booked a surprise trip to Denver, which means he totally has Seamus’ number and has been texting his BFF nonstop. That’s my head cannon and I’m sticking to it.

As someone from a city that’s notoriously hard to park in, I regret to inform you that your grandfather almost certainly incurred the wrath of the parking gods by spurning their favor. My condolences to you and your family, for all of his bloodline are surely doomed to circle the block, searching for a spot, for all eternity once you enter the afterlife.

You could also go the stalker/thriller/horror route with two shapeshifters. Starts out cute where they’re just shifting into each other’s celebrity crushes or whatever, then turns dark where one starts shifting into the other’s family members to get closer to them… culminating in them trying to slit their throat and take their place.
