  1. As a close, (I hope), e-friend of Lynne, one of our members, ic50, I'd like to ask for anyone who will, to spare her a thought and a prayer if that's your way, that the growths the doctors have found are not malignant. There's no easier way to put that. Lynne has been ill for some time, but has been a firm and loyal supporter of mine, and I hope and pray that whatever she has, the doctors are able to deal with finally and that she will be restored to health.
  2. ^ is going to go blind because he's doing it too much..... ooooo! <must already be blind then
  3. Welcome back Rainbow; we have not met before I think, unless you have visited the Nifty Archive before where I used to be. I know how pleased you must be to get some eyesight back, as my mother had the same operation some years ago now, and was at least able to enjoy better eyesight again. I hope Mike returns to be with you and that your future will be a little rosier. Greetings from the Hampshire coast!
  4. and as soon as can possibly spare a few minutes I'll be going there
  5. give him an oral surprise he won't forget as an incentive and tell him to hurry up!
  6. At which point, I'll now say that the thought that bothered me most was the effect that misguided people can have on their own younger kids, who might be totally unable to understand such a situation. Granted, the idea was pushed to the extreme here, but nevertheless, it makes you wonder what goes through a young impressionable mind when faced with such a family crisis. In this sort of situation, it just shows that loving understanding rather than biggoted ignorance is so much better.
  7. Welcome to GA Mikkiwriter, and iant54 who I missed! May you both have fun here
  8. I was browsing through the list of links just now and came to 'Scribbler's Pad'. Noticing that this hosted stories by Graeme, and having read all six ( so far) chapters of his story 'New Brother' I thought I see what else he had to offer. I found he'd posted a short story called "Dear God". It took but a few minutes to read, but it's going to have me thinking a great deal. I won't spoil it by describing the story. Read it for yourself and then say what YOU think! ? ?
  9. Happy Birthday Crazy Goat, and many more to come with us, we hope! :king:
  10. Well ok, as soon as it's finished ! Give Lenny a chance, he's working his arse off!
  11. ....and whilst I'm wishing hope for Patrick's niece I haven't forgotten your mom Ethan. I hope you are feeling less stressed too.
  12. Sorry to hear your news Patrick. It's never too late to change your mind and offer a prayer though. Maybe someone/something listens to our thoughts; I don't know either, and I can't prove it either way yet. Maybe it's worth a try for your neice's sake? Just a thought Patrick, but I'll say one for you as well if you like. Mike
  13. The problem is, it actually happens a bit like that in real life quite often. You mean it hasn't for you? My condolences.
  14. ^ ooooooo is a naughty, naughty man!

  18. And whilst you're at it, please don't forget that those of us in the UK run about five or six hours ahead of you! That's the problem for me with '#Niftywriters' It was always at 1am for me. A little on the late side, especially when it didn't finish until 4am. (Java runs ok on my Windows Sparhawk! Though it tends to demolish a load of RAM at an alarming rate!)
  19. Happy birthday wep363 - despite your moan about my posts!! LOL Have a good one!
  20. Likewise Ethan; I'm sure we all are hoping things turn out well for both of you.
  21. And of course, chapter six is just as good!
  22. I take it this story of yours is a cut above the rest -{BM}-?
  23. Happy Birthday Miguel, and many more we hope! :king:
  24. As both reader and writer I probably have to say I prefer happy endings to outright sad ones. And yet I have written one myself that wasn't quite the happy ending that readers were probably expecting. It was at a time when people who wrote emails asking when the next chapter would appear, suddenly stopped writing and I began to wonder whether anyone was actually reading it anymore. I plodded on for a couple of months, churning out roughly one chapter a month. (You must realise here that I was also writing about three other stories as well) So I stopped it dead at that point, to see if anyone actualy enquired what had happened to the next chapter. Result? One email. I suppose that put me in a kind of vindictive mood! I guess I got fed up with writing it at that stage and did a nasty! I wrote out the main characters in the title in that chapter in a complete twist, yet salvaged a reasonably good result in the end. The story? 'Simon and Ricky'. I can think of one instance though where there's a sad ending, but the ending is a satisfactory one, but actually in this case it was a film, namely 'Gladiator'. Mostly though, a sad ending gives you a kind of depression and you have mixed feelings about the whole thing. The only time it works well is if there an impending sequel where you just know "the baddies" are going to get their just desserts!
  25. Welcome to GA drewgum; everyone is welcome here
