    Hi, thank you for your very nice comment. Only...my other stories tend to be a "bit" longer, I'm afraid, but in return you get real living characters, totally developed.     Yes, I got your point. But there was a specific reason for nothing that in this story, because the whole fairytale is based upon a real story of someone's live and I didn't want to go too far away from that. But maybe a follow up...yes..."The Beggar that became a King". Let me think it over🙂

    You got a good point there. Here in Europe: if I cheat on taxes it is 3 years of jail, if a politician does it it is 6 months on probation. In the USA it is even simpler: if you're white it is a light punishment, if you're black you have quiet a lot of time to spend.

    Oh well, the vicar personifies only the whole general attitude of all the Christian churches in the early 20th century, but also in all those ages before. Like the cop personifies the unholy unison between clerical and secular arms in a retrograde society, that is based on suppression. So, in a way the whole story, although centered on the main characters, is actually a critique on society as a whole and as you say: in large parts of the world this kind of suppression still exists.
