    Chapter 66

Well played. You had me fooled. So fooled that even after the disclosure of the nightmare, I was expecting them to be somewhere in Mexico, having taken the kidnapping route themselves that was mentioned a couple chapters ago. But you made it turn out right. And this passage was awesome:
  2. Thanks for the compliment. I hope the rest is just as gripping.
  3. Appreciate the feedback. No doghouse for you.

    Chapter 1

It took a little while to get into the story, but it finally hooked me. Very enjoyable. I do have one nit-picky item. It’s Counselor Troi, not Troy. You never want to tick off a Trekker. We’ll sic the Klingons on you. 😄
  5. Or a really bad way, depending on your perspective. Abel and Kathy will not be thinking it's good.
  6. I think I quoted this song once before, but since it's appropriate: B-b-b-baby, you just ain't seen n-n-n-nothing yet
  7. It's been a while since you got your hands on my early drafts. You been on vacation or something?
  8. Yes, and I bet you can guess who I'll get as your detention monitor. I won't say any names, but kb is a hint.
  9. That's me; Roller Coaster Tycoon.
  10. Well, there is indeed more to the story. I'm on chapter 9 with no end in sight. 😁
  11. It's still a way away, and not to spoil anything at all, but the South Carolina connection will come back up at some point. For your last sentence, all we have to do is wait, I guess.
  12. Thanks, but I think we've passed from coincidence to reality. Hehe. There will be more on Nick's two-day journey in a later chapter to help explain some of the coincidences.
  13. Saturday Brendan woke up before Nick the next morning. Nick was lying on the couch and the blanket was on the floor. The T-shirt rode up a little, but Nick was still covered down to his upper thighs. Brendan was thankful for that, especially after Nick's disclosure from his visit to Burger King. He put the blanket back over Nick and went into the kitchen to put on some coffee and start breakfast. During the week he normally only had toast or a bagel, but on the weekends, he liked a little m
  14. Glad you are liking it so far.
  15. I believe the authorities will have everything under control.
  16. Imagine that, me, writing an uplifting story. At least partially.
  17. I’m still figuring out how to play the religious nutjob angle. Obviously a little foreshadowing with Nick asking Brendan to say grace. I’m sure I’ll get there. No teeth involved yet, but we’ll see.

    Chapter 1

@weinerdog, why did you hijack @kbois' GA account?

    Chapter 1

Maybe it's me, but I think his so-called "friends" went a little too far with the antagonizing. If I were Jason, I would have left before most of what was said, was said. Otherwise, it was a good story.
  20. Not all my protagonists are partial assholes.
  21. That mirror may turn into one of the funhouse variety in a few chapters.
  22. Hmmm. Maybe you'll be right.
  23. Yeah, I tried to make it look like CPS was uncooperative and even going to the police might not have been ideal. That, and like you said, it'd be less interesting. Like I mentioned above, more detail is forthcoming.
  24. Thanks. Yeah, the kid's had it rough. You'll find out more. Brendan is a nice guy. I'm reminded of a Beatle's song, 'The Long and Winding Road.'
  25. I'm hoping it will be enjoyable. Some serious tones, but no 'Rocked to the Core' moments.
