  1. Friday Brendan Nelson knew he should have stopped at the pizza place closer to home. 'Ten minutes isn't too far, the food won't get cold,' he had thought. Well, that would have been true if there wasn't an accident. An hour later, the seafood alfredo was as cold as it was in his car, A/C turned up high. The salad was probably wilted. Brendan grabbed the food and his briefcase and dragged his ass through the ninety-six-degree weather toward the door. He was halfway there before he looked up
  2. Prompt #385 – Brendan Nelson had a tough week at work. He is a Project Manager at a small software company. Nothing went well on his current project. The last delivery to QA (Quality Assurance) was a total failure, the techs couldn't even install it. Add to that, a serious problem in the development of a new feature arose. Finally, on top of that, the customer was screaming about a bug that hadn't been fixed for months, and now it apparently crashed the system. As if things weren't bad at work, he had to come home to a surprise.
  3. I didn’t feel like getting skewered again.

    Chapter 27 S2

That made me look this fact up. Apparently, a sperm whale could conceivably swallow a person, but they wouldn't last long inside.

    Chapter 27 S2

Wow. Never knew that. Jonah must have been an awfully tiny man.

Thanks for the graphic warning. It could have been worse. Hell, I've done worse myself, right Uncle Marco?

    Chapter 27 S2

One more reason we need a groan emoji. I guess the lake was too small for Devin to transition into the Loch Ness Monster. Maybe an oversized bigfoot? Are alligators afraid of great white sharks? Wait, I know. He could have transitioned into a blue whale and ate the gator.
  8. The killer smiled. News of the latest murder has hit the front page. The cops are still flummoxed. There have been four victims, two male, two female. Four different races are represented: Caucasian, Negro, Hispanic, and the latest, Asian. The only clue mentioned in the article is the fancy hat left behind. The killer is curious. Why aren’t the glove, hairpin, tube of lipstick, or mascara pen mentioned? The killer even wondered aloud, “Why don’t they mention the other clues I leave behind?
  9. Orono, Maine had been panicked by a curious serial killer. The killer always leaves a fancy hat, called a fascinator, at the scene of the crime. The few clues point toward a female perpetrator, which is fairly unusual. As little as 8% up to 17% of serial killers are women. The killing method is always different. The victims apparently have nothing in common. And the only common clue besides the hat is a few strands of hair, likely a woman’s. Other clues indicating a woman killer are left but are as random as the victims. Is the woman who has that hair the suspect, or is it a case of massive misdirection?

    Chapter 1

I think there were two authors. One was definitely Google. Nobody would know all those attractions. Wait! Are they all even real?

    Chapter 1

This shift in gears had me totally lost. First, Nick is sitting in a recliner, the doctor (a different doctor, apparently, not a tree) walks in and calls him Malcom? I then get that Malcom's Nick's husband. But how did Nick get from Alltopia to apparently the real world. He woke up in his home state, but not awake, in a coma. The anonymous pronoun use threw me. Nick was hallucinating, and somehow ended up in a coma. Got it. Next story please.

    Chapter 1

I'm going to have to read this one again. My initial reaction was, HUH? Maybe I skipped a paragraph or something... Another comment will follow if I figure out WTF this was about. I didn't get chris's alternate reality coma from this. Alternate reality, yeah...
  13. Thanks for the feedback. Next one’s looking like a HEA ending.
  14. Nope, that doesn’t hurt at all. Being nineteen makes it okay to do whatever you like.
  15. Thanks. I knew it would hit hard, but like @weinerdog said above, blame it on the evil Lee.
  16. There’s an awesome song by a new favorite duo of mine that uses and brings this statement to life. Another “story” that is too close to the shit that’s happening in the world these days.
  17. You’ll find out in a few days. I need to get a little further ahead first.
  18. Too true. Unfortunately both endings could be possible.
  19. Printed on the inside of the front cover: This is the private journal of Dak Ross. Unless i handed it to you to read, paws off! Monday, April 15: If you’re reading this Uncle Spence or Aunt Claire, please stop. Monday, April 29: Really, Aunt Claire and Uncle Spence. You really, really don’t want to read this. Tuesday, April 23 Aunt-C tried to convince me to go to school today. i wanted to wait around to see if Jamie showed up. She was pretty convincing when she said h

    Chapter 1

A touching story. I have an alternative reason for the envelope, it’s a paid in full construction contract, since the house and garden are still in the mom’s name. Like others have said, anothet chapter would be interesting.

    Jamie Is Found

We’ll have to see if that can be said after the next chapter.

    Jamie Is Found

To be honest, this is/was the alternative ending. The sad ending was my original intent. More on that from me after it’s published.

    Jamie Is Found

Trepidation. Very good emotion in light of what’s coming.
