  1. Connor strolled across the office and perched on Gordon's desk. Gordon was curious, what had come up to bring Connor out of his tech hub? The guy was in t-shirt and shorts, his standard gear no matter what the weather. There was a mass of hair escaping from the sagging neck of the t-shirt and a distinct bulge at his crotch, but as far as Gordon knew there had been no repeat of the jock-strap incident, though Toby was coming in tomorrow so things might get interesting. "Could I have a word?"
  2. Thanks for all the lovely comments and glad that the characters are appealing to people, and lots more to come.
  3. The balcony was now filling up with plants, and Toby couldn't be happier. When he'd studied it, he had discovered that there was a problem with the light, so the plants had had to be carefully chosen. "Toby, this is starting to look like a jungle, are you sure about these plants?" "Oh, come on Dad. It's not a jungle, they are good traditional ones, most of them local. I'm a bit worried about the ferns, but the man in the nursery assured us that they'll do fine, if we look after them pr
  4. "You see much of Dee nowadays, now she's managed to get shut of Toby?" David was the owner of the cabin, Deirdre's cousin, though he called her Dee. He couldn't be much more different to Deidre; big and bear-like he was friendly and forthcoming, happy to chat and apparently without a prickly bone in his body. He had responded with remarkable alacrity to Brian’s email, offering their help on doing up the cabin. As a result, Briand and Gordon were spending the day at the cabin with David, to

I do rather have rather a strange imagination, but hope that developments will appeal
  6. Brian was knackered. The first two weeks at work had been a steep learning curve. It's not that he wasn't enjoying it, he was. It was just that there was all so much to take in. Gordon was the same, despite their familiarity with the security business there was so much more when you were on the other side of the desk. When you were working as rank and file, then were was always someone to contact when things went wrong, someone at the office. Now they were the office, and there weren't many of t

Thanks, glad you are enjoying it.
  10. "What about this, then?" Deirdre thrust a magazine under Brian's nose. Toby was at Drew and Evie's with Gordon, their orchard remained a permanent draw for the boy, and Brian had been pottering around the flat, sorting out after their recent trip to the cabin, doing the backlog of laundry, making lists of food to be bought and other useful stuff. His phone had rung, and an annoyed Deirdre had insisted that they meet up, there and then, that morning. There was a Café Nero in the modern shopp

  15. "Well, this is a surprise. I hope Toby wasn't too upset at Deirdre's shenanigans". Gordon and Brian's Mum, Denise, were in her kitchen where she was preparing dinner and he was being politely questioned. Toby had been sent off to show his Father round the garden whilst Denise chatted to Gordon. It had been a somewhat hectic morning as Gordon had decided it made sense to go and fetch his car, as otherwise they would have to mess around with yet more taxis to get to the shops to buy Toby some

Its lovely and heartening reading peoples comments and thoughts about the characters & plot, especially the directions the plot might have taken. There are indeed fireworks to come.
  23. Gordon's flat was very nice indeed, far classier than anything Brian might have afforded. It was in a 1960s, purpose-built block with five flats in it, on the North-West edge of Parborough, convenient but quiet. The road wasn't a busy one, and the building's ground floor was taken up by a firm of accountants, so there was usually no-one there evenings and weekends. It was also handy for Brian's Mum, as Mereham where she lived was South-East of Huntsford (in fact it was almost part of the town no
