  1. Not there, but heading there. It's waving from the horizon. We're making progress Willingly is a big word. But as Alice pointed out, that's his punishment. Seeing the big world *cough* he was running away for and then going back. Frank has the "gentle giant" theme going on, that's true, and it makes everyone forget that he was a quiet but ready to punch kid. Without saying too much: in chapter 36 will happen something whose consequences will show you a different side of him. That's an amazing question. Not sure if she herself has an answer to this, though.
  2. Matthew acts a bit like a predator disguising himself as prey. "Oh I'm the shy poor boy from next door, where is the wife I need to save me?" No but for real, he is a somewhat two-faced character, though I don't think he does it conciously. It was definitely needed and the timing was good, it gave Dante a boost he needed. Absolutely.
  3. The whirring of the machine took on a shrill tone, and while Dante still grimaced at the brief pain it caused in his ears, Tom leaned forward. A soft click and the machine shut off; the silence setting in was comfortable. "Blaise really ought to get a newer model of that." Tom's words were accompanied by a sigh and Dante turned his head in his direction, his hands coming to rest for a moment. "I still haven't quite figured out the orb thing we're making here, but I didn't get the impre
  4. To be honest, Chris hadn't expected anything else. But before anything happened in consequence, Charles sent him to the bathroom to shave the scrub off his face and then to the shower - both of which he admittedly needed very much. Charles watched him doing this, and as he dried off, a suspicious bulge was already forming in Charles' pants. "Get your stuff and come with me," he said roughly, and Chris nodded. The air was cool, almost cold on his bare skin and he shivered. The small room to

    Essential Question

Charles is an ass only towards slave, otherwise he's actually a nice guy (though it's debateable if someone can count as nice guy while mistreating slaves). He and Matthew are both part of the Brotherhood mentioned a few times, which demands complete devotion and faithfullness to the wife. Matthew's ma died a good 20 years ago and he still sticks to the oaths, but since slaves don't count as cheating... I'm not going to give any excuses for Matthew. He's not made to be a Master/leader/head of family. Doug/Dirk/Derek is actually the cousin of Matthew and Maggie (here click we here about it) but he does only play a minimalistic role in the whole story, meaning that even in part 2 he's more mentioned than actually on-screen.
  6. For a very long, very uncomfortable moment, Matthew scowled at Chris, then turned away. "You need clothes..." he grumbled, reaching into an open shelf; to Chris' surprise, he pulled out Chris' clothes. "Put them on." "Yes, Master." He took the clothes, and as he placed them on the floor and then unfolded the heavy protective trousers, Matthew reached for a phone. A moment later he said: "Maggie, call the Mitchells and- Great Mother, I know that! Chris needs clothes and Blaise and Frank

For that part I can promise Finley meeting some of Emmett's family

    27: Finley

Emmett falling asleep in my arms was the best feeling ever. As his emotions ebbed, I had to actively remind myself that he was sleeping and not dying, but beyond that, I was happy. The dragon rumbled contentedly. But I couldn't sleep. Shame crept up inside me, at my reaction to his words. It was so easy to say ‘I like you as you are’, but it was his reasoning, his ‘let me be the glue for your broken heart’ that overwhelmed me. Even now in the silence, this moment for my private

    Always in Service

You know, at first I wanted to agree, but then I had time to think about it. I don't think Anduin realizes how "pathecially sad" he is. Or that "wallowing as a default mechanism" is a thing. In his own eyes, he's the strong guy, unfazed, unbothered. It's only with Remy, that he let's his guard down and honestly, do we know how much of his stories is real and how much might be exaggerated or downright a lie? Just to earn Remy's compassion and attention and love. Okay, that still makes him pathetic. He just wouldn't agree. Oh and for the knives: hard agree.

    Always in Service

I honestly don't want to imagine... I know what you mean. Hearing him tell those painful stories lets rise sympathy and pity, but then he does the next intrusive thing or even just a bad joke about Remy and all that "liking points" go to hell.
  11. Remy had almost reached his room when he heard Marc in surprise call his name. Although anything but in a chatty mood, he turned around and silently raised a brow. "Is everything okay?" Marc asked hesitantly, visibly confused by the fact that Remy was walking around the house naked. "Yes." he returned curtly. After all, all that was required of him was duty, and it was his own stupidity that he had read more into it. If a girl didn't want his service, that was just the way it was.

    Anduin

We can't trust Remy's feelings for Anduin. Hell, he himself is not trusting his feelings or Anduin.

    Anduin

Anduin didn't like women very much, and certainly not in bed. In his 35 years, he had almost never had a choice, but even now, when he did, he served anyway. It was strange, actually, he thought, as he rolled his hips, eliciting an enraptured sound from Bella. It wasn't much more than in and out, giving him just enough to stay hard, and was incredibly boring. Where did she get the idea to call his sweet Riri boring when she wanted nothing but boring herself? Riri would never exceed the
  14. Miles pinched the bridge of his nose. 'Let's do a pen & paper round at least once,' Monty had said, 'it'll be fun.' Well, depends on the way you look at it. For they were an absolute mess. Leo, an old friend of Monty's, had presented them, as absolute beginners, with a highly simplified rulebook and roughly pre-made characters which they detailed out together, but... No... it was actually just chaos. A funny chaos? Maybe. Ben was a shield warrior, affectionately known as

For a moment, I stared puzzled at Finley kneeling before me. It reminded me of a humble knight before his king. Was he really so deeply impressed by me? Or was he making himself small because - as the largest predator on earth - he wanted to appear less dangerous? Either way, I shifted back, the magic stroking smooth and warm over my skin. Then I knelt down next to him and touched him gently on the arm. “Hey...” When he raised his eyes, there was actual awe in them. “A unicorn...” h

    A bitter Welcome

In the main story we see (have seen so far) mostly the crushing-on-Alice-shy-Matthew. But rest assured, we'll meet the full-blown-asshole-Matthew soon enough. I would say a mix of genetical predisposition and constand noise/stress level in his life. I'm depicting a strong form of tinnitus and although my own one is much weaker and comes only periodically, trust me, I know what I'm talking about. I'm having this since early teenage years and got told, all those ear infections/inflammations when I was a (little) kids probably scarred the eardrum which is considered a cause for tinnitus. Furthermore, I know some people who severely suffer from this; a former colleague actually got hearing aids at only 42 for this.
  21. The whistling in his ears stopped so suddenly that he sighed with relief. "He's waking up," someone remarked critically. "It's about time. Matthew hit too hard." a second voice hummed. "Not hard enough," growled a third man. Instead of the ringing in his ears, he was now getting a headache, a sharp pain boring through his skull. The men's voices continued to talk, apparently about him, and he suppressed a groan as he raised his hand to his head. Or rather, he wanted to, becau

    Bad Awakening

That's an interesting thought and makes me wonder to what extent Max had genuine interest in Chris at all. The problem for both is, attempts on flight are punished severely. Normal slaves have GPS collars so running away is a fruitless affair in 99% of the cases, but since they don't wear normal collars (more on that later on) their punishment is execution. Spoiler: I'm not killing my main character. Apart that: Chris doesn't know the world outside the steel mill, he doesn't even know where he's running towards. His life there was maybe not the most comfortable, but he knows it.
  25. Chris rubbed his eyes, behind which there was a dull throbbing. A chair scraped, a bowl was set on the table with a thud, a spoon clinked. "I'm worried about Max," Conrad said quietly. Chris raised his eyes. "Why?" Stirring in his breakfast porridge, Conrad replied: "Because he's still too rebellious." Chris frowned; it had been quite a while now since Max had last gotten himself a punishment. At least a punishment other than the regular overseer's dick up his ass, which was
