Note sure I've heard the term Peace Bond here. I did use the term Good Behaviour Bond a few times, which is where a conviction may be recorded but the judge will set a period of good behaviour rather than incarcerate someone. As for barbecue, BBQ, barbie, I guess they all cover the same type of event, usually steaks, sausages, chops etc ... though other foods (prawns, chickens etc) may sometimes be cooked up, depending on family tastes. No real distinction between regions in the use of any of those terms... at least as far as I'm aware. Hope that is of some help. MP

We all piled into Matt's car at about nine thirty after we had showered and had breakfast, armed with our maps of the town and the university campus; along with our towels, as requested by our friends. I had to admit that Matt and I were both more than a bit curious about this special place that we were going to visit at some stage today, but in spite of our constant probing and digging we were still none the wiser. Tim and Guy were steadfast in their refusal to divulge their little secret.

Thank you for your very kind words! MP

Thank you for your very kind words. And you were pretty close with the Southern Cross / Southern Star comparison. It's all fictional but had to be based (however loosely) on something real ... just like Macquarie Harbour is a fictional mash-up of two cities from that region. 🙂 MP

‘So, what’s that you’ve got there?’ Matt asked me the next day, after we had just watched DJ slouch his way along the driveway and disappear from view. We were walking back into the garage ourselves. ‘What?’ I answered. He motioned towards what I was holding in my hand, the information sheets and application forms from the Southern Star University web site, which I had printed off earlier in the day while Matt and DJ had been working on the car. I handed the sheets of paper to Mat

Or maybe seeing as Phil and Candice are few years older than the others they were high school sweethearts... she the trophy girlfriend to the high school stud and they've both now finally realised they weren't supposed to end up together after all? 😀

Let's just say that Matt has had enough of schoolin' for now. 😀

Nailed it. LOL

Dwayne walked in, right behind DJ. Apparently, it was almost lunchtime. ‘So, what have you guys been up to?’ DJ asked again. ‘Nothing we really want to tell you about,’ I cheekily answered. ‘As a matter of fact, we were still in bed, until we were woken up by doofus over here.’ ‘Hey, don’t call me that, Boxhead,’ Hoss said. Dwayne looked through into the bedroom and saw the clothes and sheets and blankets scattered everywhere, then just grinned at Matt and me. I think I

That is so very true. It can often be a case of just throw a tiny bit of mud and it will certainly stick, irrespective of whether it is true or not. I know a few individuals for which that has happened ☹️

TER = Tertiary Entrance Ranking (I think! ..... it's been a long while since I was there! haha)

The musky smell of leather and dark timber and old books didn't really hit us on our first couple of visits to Harry's office, but it certainly did the next time around. I don’t know why, but it reminded me of that heady, addictive, intoxicating smell that I had first inhaled in Matt's flat, long before I had moved in. That manly fragrance, which I loved so much, like a mixture of sweat and sex. As we sank once more into the deep leather chairs, I almost had to stifle a giggle, as th

As the magpies sang in the trees on this glorious morning, and the sun climbed gradually higher in the sky, the three of us just stood around the back of the car, numb with shock at the thought that someone could be as callous as this. None of us seemed to quite know what it was that we should do next, so none of us did anything. The words we were staring at almost jumped off the back of the car, as if they were saying, ‘Here we are, you poofters! Now, what are you going to do about

Authors Note: Thank you so much to all the readers who have reacted or commented on the chapters as they are being posted. Even though this is an older story, I truly appreciate your responses and support! Thank you! ---O--- Christmas morning. Just bloody wonderful. It was supposed to be a time of joy. A time for families. A time for happiness. Yeah, right! What it was, was a time of worry. It was a time of sadness. A time when we all just wanted to get the hell out.

Currently working on re-editing the whole series for re-posting, while also still tinkering with a continuation story (or two) 🙂 Stay tuned 😋

It had to be Tuesday morning. Damn. I looked around me. Now where was I? The sun was streaming in through the window when I woke up and for a moment I was lost. I had to actually think where I was. I looked across and saw that Matt was lying there beside me, breathing quietly, with the sheet only covering him from about the waist down. Yeah, that seemed right. I was used to that now. He was there every morning. I looked around the room and then realised where I was. Matt's flat. H

Have you ever laid awake at night just listening to the sound of rain, falling gently on the iron roof? Have you then woken up in the morning to a clear, fresh dawn, with the heady fragrances of summer gently wafting in through the open window and the curtains being gently blown in and out with each breath of air? That was what the next morning was like. It was just beautiful, and we were just lying there in each other’s arms for ages, desperately not wanting to let go of each other, but kn

Yes, it is certainly a game, isn't it? And at 18, how many of us really knew how to play it. Most of us just made it up as we went along ... hell, many of us still do that! lol Just so long as we learn from those things we don't get right! As for changes, these are mostly cosmetic ... trying to get the t's crossed and the i's dotted and all the , and ' in the right place. There have been a few minor changes made over the years, but these were, as you say, done for a better outcome. I've added a few little items along the way designed to connect the stories in the series or to set up the future stories. MP

Ultimately the boys are there for each other as each goes through their own issues, and despite a few hiccups along the way that is ultimately what cements their bond. MP

Yes, things have changed considerably since I completed Year 12 all the way back in 1981. I think from memory I based the events in the story on my own experiences, but even at the time I wrote it (1999-ish) things were already different. MP

The police carted my father away in the paddy wagon that night. Common Assault was what they called it, but believe me, there was nothing common about it. It was the first time that he had ever raised a hand to anyone. At least that I knew of anyhow. Mum said that it was for the best. For the moment at least. Katie wanted to know where dad was going and why he was so angry. And Matt, well . . . Matt wouldn’t say much of anything at all. I think he was as shocked as I was. He simply he

@Al Norris @Anton_Cloche @Paladin thank you, guys, for all your well thought out comments. They are greatly appreciated and have even made me think about a few of the choices I made when writing this all those years ago. Nobody wins in cases and situations such as this, but hopefully, once everyone comes to their senses, sanity will prevail, both in fiction and real life! MP
