Thank you @Summerabbacat. I truly appreciate your comments. When I wrote this, I didn't really have anything in mind other than Danny wanting to forearm Pete with the knowledge that if someone (especially an adult) tries something with him he needs to be able to recognise that it is wrong. Young Pete is at an age where he is starting to question things and it's already apparent that he has a few secrets of his own. What comes next for him, however, you might just have to wait and see. As for your other comments about Danny's biological father and how Nate handles his absence, and other questions that have been raised, well, perhaps some of these may be answered in the sequel... Seventeen Again... when it is eventually finished!

Beautifully put. Thank you! Mark

Danny was dreading the thought of having to go home and face his mother who knew that he must have stayed out all night, so he stayed away from his home for as long as he could. He also knew there would be hell to pay, but strangely, now that he had shared his biggest secret and his greatest fears with his best friend, while also having made the big decision to join Jake in that adventure they called life, he felt surprisingly calm. As for how long that feeling might last, however, might be

At that time it was 18, though homosexuality then was also still illegal as far as I'm aware. These days it is 16. Same for leaving home also ... although I'm sure there are those who have, and still do, leave younger ... especially if there are problems. In the story Danny is currently 16 ... the lads still need to careful 🙂

As he headed towards the centre of town, down darkened, tree-lined streets, Danny’s head was a jumble of emotions. He was excited by the thought of seeing Jake again, even if he was still concerned about the way in which he had been acting when they had left him earlier. He was also worried about what his mother had been saying about his stepfather being home tomorrow. How had life suddenly become so complicated, he wondered? He was still turning all this over in his mind when he rode

For me it was a mixed bag ... we lived on a farm out of town, so it wasn't possible to just do what I want or go where I want anyhow, my father was also a bit of a "you will do as I say" kind of guy, so even if I would have had the opportunity to hang with friends and do whatever I wanted, chance are I wouldn't have been able to anyhow. That's not to say that my teen life was a total wasteland ... I was able to hang with friends from time to time, but I didn't have total freedom. Once I got my driver's licence, however, things were somewhat better

With an afternoon storm beginning to build out to sea, Danny and Nate weren’t quite sure where to look next for Jake, because at first glance it didn’t appear that he was anywhere near the beach. From where they stood at the edge of the dunes they could see some board riders still out past where the waves were beginning to form, but they couldn’t tell who they were. One by one they were paddling around and every now and then one of them would catch a wave and manage to ride it for a while,

When Danny made it home he found that his mother still hadn’t arrived, and so he spent the next ten minutes sitting on the back steps growing crankier and crankier with each passing minute. ‘Jesus, if she wasn’t coming straight home why the fuck did she tell me I had to?’ he fumed. Was it little wonder he felt his family was going crazy and he was now thinking about getting the hell away from here just as soon as he could? After a while he picked up a tennis ball that was lying around

Danny was already awake the next morning when Jake finally opened his eyes. He had been lying there beside him, propped up on one elbow and watching him sleep, trying to figure out just how he had managed to end up in bed with such a beautiful young man. Well, not exactly in bed, it was more like on the bed, as that was how they had fallen asleep the night before. ‘Hey,’ Jake said, as his eyes focused on the young man lying next to him. ‘Hey, yourself. How are you feeling this morning

"the Brad" was definitely a typo. Nice pick up. Thank you. As for the fist pump, I honestly can't recall if that was something we did or not. Maybe these boys were just ahead of their time? 🤔 😋 MP

Hmmmm... can't ever remember having to do that at the movies. School, definitely though. 😊 MP

The boys were lucky. When they finally made it to the small movie theatre, the doors were just being opened for the late afternoon show with the first movie being a cowboy movie that had played here before. They bought their tickets for the double feature, then a drink, a packet of Jaffa lollies and a choc-top ice cream each. They then decided to wait out most of the first movie in the foyer, at least until it was almost over; then they would go in, find a seat, and while everyone else was outsi

After Sergeant Bailey had left, the boys helped Jake straighten out his campsite and clean up the mess of broken glass and plastic from the shattered lights and tail lights, before they all sat down beneath the canvas shelter. ‘So, are you going to tell us now what actually happened?’ Danny asked. ‘And why you wouldn’t tell the Sarge everything?’ ‘I promised you I would,’ Jake replied. ‘But you might not like the answers.’ ‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ asked Nate. Ahhh . . . the imagery of THAT!!!

@VBlew all very true ... but all good things come to those who wait!

Oh yes, @Summerabbacat I fully understand that. And that is exactly why I wrote it that way ... to tell it like it was / is ...

Jake didn’t know what time it was when he awoke, or should that be, when he regained consciousness? He knew that something had happened last night, but as he lay face down in the sandy patch of dirt just near his shelter, looking at his disheveled campsite and the back of his van, he couldn’t remember what it had been. All he knew now was that he was cold, his face was throbbing, his head was spinning and his body was aching all over. He wasn’t sure, but judging by the distorted view of th

Thank you @Talo Segura. My apologies for not responding sooner ... I've only just seen your comment. And yes, we have come a long way, and there still quite a way to go, but I do believe we are heading in the right direction and acceptance of all things LGBT is becoming more ... accepted.

Yes. I was in 6th class and all the girls (and a few guys) were crazy about them! LOL

One of the good things about Hidden Beach, especially in nineteen seventy-five, was that for the most part very few people went there, providing Jake with a secluded place to work and swim and surf. With Thompsonville being a small town, and with the main beach being just across the road from the shopping centre, there was little need for the townsfolk to travel to any other beaches in the area, unless they specifically wanted somewhere quiet for activities they didn’t want anyone else int

When their next visit to Jake’s campsite eventuated, the boys were to be disappointed as there was no sign of Jake or his van. They could still see his shelter set up amongst the trees, so they rode over to see if he might have left a message or something. He hadn’t mentioned anything about being away when they had last seen him. ‘Maybe he just went into town, or something?’ Danny suggested as they crossed the car park. ‘Or he’s found some sexy guy who’s more interesting than us!’ Nate

That thought about dear old dad crossed my mind as well 🤔
