When Danny made it home he found that his mother still hadn’t arrived, and so he spent the next ten minutes sitting on the back steps growing crankier and crankier with each passing minute. ‘Jesus, if she wasn’t coming straight home why the fuck did she tell me I had to?’ he fumed. Was it little wonder he felt his family was going crazy and he was now thinking about getting the hell away from here just as soon as he could? After a while he picked up a tennis ball that was lying around

Danny was already awake the next morning when Jake finally opened his eyes. He had been lying there beside him, propped up on one elbow and watching him sleep, trying to figure out just how he had managed to end up in bed with such a beautiful young man. Well, not exactly in bed, it was more like on the bed, as that was how they had fallen asleep the night before. ‘Hey,’ Jake said, as his eyes focused on the young man lying next to him. ‘Hey, yourself. How are you feeling this morning

"the Brad" was definitely a typo. Nice pick up. Thank you. As for the fist pump, I honestly can't recall if that was something we did or not. Maybe these boys were just ahead of their time? 🤔 😋 MP

Hmmmm... can't ever remember having to do that at the movies. School, definitely though. 😊 MP

The boys were lucky. When they finally made it to the small movie theatre, the doors were just being opened for the late afternoon show with the first movie being a cowboy movie that had played here before. They bought their tickets for the double feature, then a drink, a packet of Jaffa lollies and a choc-top ice cream each. They then decided to wait out most of the first movie in the foyer, at least until it was almost over; then they would go in, find a seat, and while everyone else was outsi

After Sergeant Bailey had left, the boys helped Jake straighten out his campsite and clean up the mess of broken glass and plastic from the shattered lights and tail lights, before they all sat down beneath the canvas shelter. ‘So, are you going to tell us now what actually happened?’ Danny asked. ‘And why you wouldn’t tell the Sarge everything?’ ‘I promised you I would,’ Jake replied. ‘But you might not like the answers.’ ‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ asked Nate. @VBlew all very true ... but all good things come to those who wait!

Oh yes, @Summerabbacat I fully understand that. And that is exactly why I wrote it that way ... to tell it like it was / is ...

Jake didn’t know what time it was when he awoke, or should that be, when he regained consciousness? He knew that something had happened last night, but as he lay face down in the sandy patch of dirt just near his shelter, looking at his disheveled campsite and the back of his van, he couldn’t remember what it had been. All he knew now was that he was cold, his face was throbbing, his head was spinning and his body was aching all over. He wasn’t sure, but judging by the distorted view of th

Thank you @Talo Segura. My apologies for not responding sooner ... I've only just seen your comment. And yes, we have come a long way, and there still quite a way to go, but I do believe we are heading in the right direction and acceptance of all things LGBT is becoming more ... accepted.

Yes. I was in 6th class and all the girls (and a few guys) were crazy about them! LOL

One of the good things about Hidden Beach, especially in nineteen seventy-five, was that for the most part very few people went there, providing Jake with a secluded place to work and swim and surf. With Thompsonville being a small town, and with the main beach being just across the road from the shopping centre, there was little need for the townsfolk to travel to any other beaches in the area, unless they specifically wanted somewhere quiet for activities they didn’t want anyone else int

When their next visit to Jake’s campsite eventuated, the boys were to be disappointed as there was no sign of Jake or his van. They could still see his shelter set up amongst the trees, so they rode over to see if he might have left a message or something. He hadn’t mentioned anything about being away when they had last seen him. ‘Maybe he just went into town, or something?’ Danny suggested as they crossed the car park. ‘Or he’s found some sexy guy who’s more interesting than us!’ Nate

That thought about dear old dad crossed my mind as well 🤔

Thank you. I am posting them every second day. Mark

I feel almost certain that Killian's mum will have his back. She loves her son unconditionally, I feel... even if she may just need a little time to adjust. As for the tyrant father, well I don't think we'll be in for any surprises when he eventually finds out the truth about his son. And as for the killer... just please don't let it be Asher! 🤔

When Danny had finished telling Jake everything that had happened in the last twenty-four hours, from finding his stepfather at home when he got there himself yesterday, to being caught in the shed, then to what had happened today when he had arrived home, he could see a frown etched across the forehead of his new friend. ‘I can’t believe it,’ Jake eventually said. ‘But I’m telling the truth,’ Danny quickly blurted out. ‘Oh, mate, I believe you . . . I just can’t believe how any f

Well @Ivor Slipper let me ask this ... if you were 16 years old and secretly came up with some cash would you tell your parents about it!

Age of consent was only lowered to 16 in the early 2000s in NSW.

The first thing Jake and Danny heard that told them Nate had returned from the beach, was an extremely loud cry of, ‘You rotten pair of bastards! Where the fuck are they?’ The next thing they heard was the sound of Nate cursing as he hot-footed it over the scalding sand, coming towards the canvas shade where they were still sitting. When they looked up, they noticed a naked Nate standing at the entrance to the camp in all his glory, except for the fact his hands were trying to cover his ma

Thanks guys! All great memories from my childhood! Another moving song that had a revival around then, though totally unrelated to the above, was "Tell Laura I Love Her" ... introduced to me by my neighbours Steven and Warwick (RIP). Not sure when that had actually been a hot (late 60s maybe) but around '73 was when I fell in love with that sad tale.

@Gary L @Talo Segura thank you both for your very kind words!

The boys enjoyed their morning with Jake, who produced the promised beers, which he and Nate sipped, while Danny selected a Coca-Cola. They were given a good look at the car, got to stick their head under the bonnet and inspect the 253v-8 motor and all its chromed bits and bobs, sit behind the wheel in the soft bucket seats with the motor purring, then put their foot down hard-on the accelerator, which deafened them. The plumes of dust billowing out from behind the van, obviously churned up by t
