August 31, 2005 Escorial Palo Alto, CA Will “When do we leave?” Travis asked, as we sat down in the kitchen and started eating breakfast. “This afternoon,” I told him. “First stop is Sandusky.” “Dude, I am so psyched!” he replied. I glanced up at CNN and saw pictures of New Orleans. Travis followed my gaze. “That hurricane sure fucked up New Orleans.” “Turn up the volume,” I told him, since the remote was next to him. I sat there and listened in h

July 29, 2005 En route to LAX Somewhere in the air over New Mexico Will “You seem more uptight than normal,” Stef said to me. It was interesting that he’d waited to ask me about that until Jeremy had gone back to one of the bedrooms. I briefly glanced around at his flying palace, then answered his question. “Travis,” I said, because that was enough of an explanation in itself. It seemed that whenever I was uptight these days, it revolved around him. “When I’m a

After the first hour of touring about, they’d both subconsciously omitted the use of honorifics, making the conversation smooth and also seem more professional. It was simply two captains talking about their respective fleets. “I am curious to hear how they compare,” Palomar said. His voice was se

Sometimes I get confused. 😉 I think a car dealership would be willing to charge a car when the person buying paid list price. Just saying.

July 1, 2005 Ritz Carlton Hotel Marina del Ray, CA Will “What are we doing today,” Travis asked, as we finished eating the eggs Benedict room service had brought us. “It’s the 4th of July weekend,” I said, dragging this out. “There are lots of things to do.” “If you don’t tell me what we’re doing, then I’ll take over,” he said. He was clearly at the end of his rope. I’d been teasing him about our plans for this weekend for the past two days. “I’ve

    Surf’s Up

For me, it was the battle with the ocean. The Pacific is not pacific at all, and to go out and fight the waves, and occasionally conquer them is a total rush. When I come in from the surf, I am usually exhausted, relaxed, and happy. Not to mention wet and sandy. 😀

June 28, 2005 Bright Star Studios Manhattan Beach, CA Will The limo drove up to the security gate and I flashed my pass at the guard, gaining instant access. I bristled at having to have a limo take me everywhere. I didn’t have a car here, and I wondered if that was one of the reasons I felt so trapped. I remembered the total state of euphoria I’d been in when I got my driver’s license. Having transportation would definitely

June 26, 2005 El Porto Beach Marina del Ray, CA Will “Not bad,” I said, as we walked up the beach and headed to Travis’s truck. I grinned at Travis because I’d really enjoyed being out in the waves with him, even if they weren’t extreme. “That was fun, but it would be nice not to have to drive,” he complained. “This is the price you pay for a redecorated house,” I told him. “I don’t get why we couldn’t just st

  21. June 5, 2005 Palo Alto Airport Palo Alto, CA Will “That was a dramatic dinner,” Travis said as we settled into the Falcon. “Drama, wherever you go,” John teased me, using Marie’s line. “I feel kind of guilty about that,” I said honestly. “It was such a nice dinner, but Jessica kept giving me the evil eye. She’s been doing that ever since I met her. I finally snapped.” “It’s good,” Ryan said. “Besides, we kind of expect that from you.” Everyone lau

TRAVISTY June 5, 2005 Escorial Palo Alto, CA Will I sat at the table and looked around at our group, and how nice everyone looked. It was especially funny to see John and Ryan wearing suits, acting all prim and proper like they weren’t usually dressed in rock star gear. I was stoked to go see them play. Grand attracted our attention by tapping on his glass. “I want to thank all of you for coming up to visit this weekend. When you are here, it is

That may not have been true when our story takes place. Plus, it makes sense that if you take a bunch of overachievers and put them in Harvard, they will probably do well. Curve grading is grossly unfair.
