Ah yes, I see it. I certainly didn’t mean to offend Gene; he’s one of my favorite readers. The deal with that is that it was part of the dialogue, and the words of characters do not necessarily meet grammar strictures. In fact, those ‘errors’ are usually designed to convey something, such as uncertainty or discomfort.

There’s actually a uniform rule on this, in that the elevators can only be accessed by an outside lock, presumably to prevent idiots from opening the door and creating havoc. I actually spent a decent amount of time researching this topic.

I personally prefer a space between paragraphs and an indent, but while Word is cooperative, GA’s software is less flexible. 😃

Thanks for your grammar kudos, but my editors deserve most of the credit. As far as reflexive pronouns, I relax the rules during dialogue to try to reflect that more casual environment.
