# 61 Winter Solstice
Dolores Esteban commented on Dolores Esteban's story chapter in # 61 Winter Solstice
Hi Cia, thanks for reading and commenting. I'm glad you liked the story. The name thing...I never really thought about this. Thanks for mentioning it. The spirit of winter solstice won't appear in my story. I modified a part where Magath is celebrating winter solstice with another character. -
# 61 Winter Solstice
Dolores Esteban commented on Dolores Esteban's story chapter in # 61 Winter Solstice
Thanks a lot for your encouraging feedback, comicfan. I've finished the first draft of the story. Now I need to edit and put the fragments, pieces, and parts together. So much work to do! -
The Spirit of Winter Solstice Magath stood by the window. He felt sad and depressed. Winter had come again and with it the cold and the darkness. Magath thought of Qildor who had left the village of Tanmil one year ago. He had come back in spring and they had spent a day together. But things had changed. They both had felt it. And then Qildor had left again. He had never come back. But Magath could not forget the man, however hard he tried to. Magath grieved. Magath looked out of

Hi Cia, thanks for your review. I'm currently writing a fantasy story. This bit is part of it. I have already finished the first draft of part I of the story. Part II is in the making. And then I have to edit it all. With English not my first language, it will take a while, unfortunately. But I try to hurry up. It's really about time I upload a new and longer story.

The Key He tried to remember who had given him the key. Neldor scratched his head as he turned the key in his hands. Sixty years had passed since he had been given the key. The wizard Neldor pondered for a while. He placed the key on the map that was spread on the wooden table in front of him. Neldor gazed at the key and the map. The parchment of the map was old. One side of the map was covered with mysterious symbols. Neldor had tried to figure them out. But the symbols had remained

Two Princes One evening Edward, the young prince, went out to take a walk by himself in the wood. He came to a cool spring of water with a rose in the middle of it. Edward sat down to rest a while. He had taken along his ball; and Edward was tossing the ball up into the air, and catching it as it fell. After a while Edward threw the ball up so high that he misses catching it. The ball fell down into the spring. Edward looked into the spring, but it was very deep and he could not see t

Eschaton (The Time Has Come) The Elven king himself opened the council and held a speech: Tyrnae is facing war and destruction for almost twenty-five years. And many of us have a sense of foreboding. In all honesty, I can say that many of us fear that Tyrnae’s end is near. We can see it with our inner eye. We see the final battle. We see our warriors fall and we see our women and children die. We see our cities destroyed. We see that nothing has left but ruins. We all see it with o

Eschaton (Last Star of Morning) Tanyl returned from the bathhouse and went to the room that had been assigned to him. It was still early and the council had not yet begun. But Tanyl did not want to stay in his room. He went to the grand hall instead. Only few elves had already gathered there. They greeted and welcomed him. Tanyl had just sat down at their table when a young elf entered the hall. He carried a lyre and smiled all over his face. A sigh escaped the mouth of the elf who sa

Eschaton (Tanyl) Tanyl walked down the path that led to the bathhouse. He had just arrived and he was feeling tired. But instantly upon his arrival, he had learned that a council would be held in the evening. So he chose to quickly get prepared. He would talk to the master of the library the following day. Tanyl glanced at the wooden box he held in his hand. It contained two scrolls, scripts too important and precious to leave them unwatched. Tanyl looked at the sky. The sun was already

Eschaton (The Chance of a Lifetime) "I heard a scout returned yesterday evening," Erildar said. "He was summoned to the king instantly," Qildor added. "A matter of urgency then," Erildar mused, rubbing his chin. "Rumors have already spread," Falael said. "I heard his horse was exhausted and close to death." "Who said this?" Ardreth asked. "The stable boy," Falael replied. "He talked to one of my comrades." "He must have ridden a long distance then," Qildor said. "A

Eschaton (Inflamed) The meeting was still going on, but Falael had left the council hall. He stood outside, looking into the darkness. He was confused. His thoughts were running. He was entirely absorbed in the recent event. Falael tried to cool down. He felt heated, he felt uncomfortable, and he felt nervous at the same time. They had only exchanged a few words, polite words without deeper meaning. Falael did not dwell on them. He rather dwelled on the melody of the words and he thoug

Eschaton (Enigma) He was tall and athletic. He moved calmly, silently, and without a noise, his feet barely touching the ground. His eyes were blue and his look was cold. His look was reserved and stern, but at the same time it was investigating, curious, and almost piercing. No doubt, he was smart, clever, and intelligent. He turned his head at a faint sound that Falael had almost missed to hear. No doubt, his hearing was excellent and his senses were keen. Falael watched him from afar

Futuristic (A Concrete Poem) by Dolores Esteban Author's note: Concrete poetry or Size poetry is poetry in which the typographical arrangement of words is as important in conveying the intended effect as the conventional elements of the poem, such as meaning of words, rhythm, rhyme and so on. © 2011 Dolores Esteban

Eschaton (Elanil) Elanil hugged the tree as she looked down at the ground far below. The fight was going on, but she was not able to see what happened. It was dark for night had already fallen. Clouds covered the moon and the light was poor. A violent thunderstorm raged in the distance. The wind was already getting stronger and the first raindrops started to fall. Elanil hugged the tree tightly. Her arms hurt. Her whole body ached. But Elanil did not move. She was barely able to think

Eschaton Prologue Under a canopy of fluorescing stars that were all too quick to fade, they stood looking out on the burned and devastated land. The final battle was beaten and the war was over. It would take years, however, to reestablish peace and rebuild the devastated land. Falael raised his eyes and looked at the nightly sky. He looked at it in almost awe and wonder. Never had he seen the beauty of the night. A chilly breeze touched Falael’s skin. The air was still filled

The Loss of Innocence Once upon a time, God created the heavens and mankind. The earth was fresh, new and innocent. The age of innocence, however, did not last long for the seven deadly sins came upon the holy land. The serpent, sublime and devious, envied man and lusted for devastation. Man, insatiable and greedy for power, gave in to the serpent’s temptation. Man’s failure to love him and obey his commands, raised God’s wrath and anger. Lucifer, the serpent, was banned from heaven, and

Mariah He had watched her for six weeks. She came to the library every Monday and Wednesday afternoon. She spent two or three hours reading there. Julian had changed his schedule according to hers. He came to the library every Monday and Wednesday. He always sat at a certain distance from her. He usually just saw her back. He saw her face only now and then when she stood and went to and from one of the shelves. Julian didn’t know her name. She was not a beauty. But there was somethin

Her Laugh Broke the Silence Her laugh broke the silence. Time started ticking again. Gratefully, Uncle Timothy offered more wine. Gratefully, everybody accepted. The conversation was resumed. Everybody engaged cheerfully. Cynthia winked at Jeremy. Jeremy lowered his eyes for a moment. Then he smiled at his cousin who had saved him with her laugh from any embarrassing explanations. Cynthia turned to her mother. Her mother nodded vividly at Cynthia’s remark. They were talking about the

Brothers Grimm, The Frog Prince : http://www.eastoftheweb.com/short-stories/UBooks/FrogPrin.shtml The Frog Prince (Heinrich) A colored coach drove up, decorated with plumes of feathers and a golden harness, and drawn by eight beautiful horses. Behind the coach rode the prince's servant, faithful Heinrich, who had bewailed the misfortunes of his dear master so long and so bitterly that his heart had almost burst. Heinrich smiled at the young princess who had broken the cruel charm o
