    Short Story

Great story, Jack, as always! May be a little late on a review but decided it was a good Saturday autumn morn to read the Fall Anthologies. Your writing is so clean and clear and provides such an easy enjoyable read. Love the take on Legend and loved the character depth portrayed in so few words. You've got my vote on best Fall Anthology!
  2. Again, Andy, this is just brilliant. You show the workings of a court better than any I've read. Regardless of the fact that I wanted to spit in Rankin's face, he's doing his job. Just don't see how defense lawyers live with themselves. Forgetting all the rest, I'll return to my opening statement ... this is just brilliant writing.
  3. This was just a brilliant chapter, Andy. Brilliant. Louis' comments below reflect what I felt as I read this and I simply couldn't have said it better. Utter believability, fantastic precision usage of words, total entertainment and beautifully well writtern. Thank you, Andy, for such a compelling read.

    Chapter 17

Man, do I love this story. This is the best book yet! I'm not going to read your forum ... I'll just bite my nails. Yes, another good one, Mark.

    Chapter 7

Rilbur, I read this story when you posted in the contest and think I voted it best then. Now, with all the addons and depth, it's really come to life. Hope you are going to continue with the story past where the original went. Great premise!
  6. Wow, Jack! Great suspense buildup. Marv and gang are idiots! He should have listened to Evan earlier even tho Evan is quite the weasle. Looking forward to more!
  7. Well ... that moistened the eyes a bit. Good job, Andy. Really good job.
  8. Just finished the last two chapters, Andy. Just couldn't resist another cliffy, could you? I can never figure you out ... here I thought Jason would end up speaking at the vigil to the camera (so mom would see it) and then it didn't happen ... no, what you did was better. Glad he told mom to flip off and loved that Amanda answered the second call. Great show of support from Peter's parents to Jason ... and LOVED the team surrounding Jason. Stop, you're gonna make me cry! Grin. Bring on 28!
  9. Holy Moly, Andy. I don't know what to think. Jason's trapped in his thinking with the scholarship and getting by, Pete's trapped in his fears that he'll be left alone, Royce is trapped in thinking this is the only way to keep his family together, and Barbara's just a bitch. Now you've f'd up Pete's pretty stud body in an accident (knew it was going to happen when doof Jason left his phone) and Jason's just going to freak. Sigh. GREAT CHAPTER! So glad I checked for an update tonight! Don't let up, don't let up ... no heartfelt 'I'm sorries' are gonna fix all of this. (Guess my plea will fall on deaf ears since you've already written the rest. Grin) Really well done on the tension and suspense. D.
  10. I've spent the day reading Second Shot. It certainly is an emotional ride of a story. Quite well written too. You're able to put to voice the intricacies of coming out into a new light. I appreciate that. Well done with buidling the tension, satisfying it, letting it die down and then building it back up. The scene with the team and D's support brought real emotion to me. And this last chapter ... i wanted to cry out for the unfairness Jason's mother is causing to both Jason and his father. Dad just is trying to do anything he can to keep his family in one piece, like a father should. You've already demonstrated the quality of character Dad has in him and what he's taught to his sons. The poor man is so torn! And Jason ... ah, he's been molded by his father and his grandfather. Now it's time for a true test of his mettle. Looking forward to it. Well done.
