  1. Handsome Stranger: named after his Dad.
  2. I have read books that foreshadowed things that only happened six books ahead.
  3. All elements heavier than iron form in supernova ejecta in a process called fast and slow neutron capture. Neutron decay continues through deep-time until the nuclei are in a long-term stable configuration. Unstable isotopes in nature are still trying to reach this equilibrium.
  4. Cats in zero-G are very entertaining. 😺
  5. What's a few Rads between friends?
  6. Is that anything like a MacGuffin? I'm told that any sort of serious MacGuffin must be fancy, shiny, and inscrutable.
  7. My old Uni had a building called the Natarorium which housed a gym and an Olympic sized swimming pool. Lots of romance bloomed in that building. 😁
  8. Ever notice how this comes up when ever some deep political crap is going on and a distraction would be useful?
  9. While I am quite sure aliens exist, I doubt they want to talk to us… except for the comedy perhaps.
  10. Politicians seem to rise to the heights of their imbecility and power about the same time most people go senile.
  11. The transports are named after merchant skippers who had long and distinguished careers. Raymond Burke, the ship Sokolsky was originally attached to is one of them.
  12. In most states, the Governor is the pardoner, with the power to commute sentences of criminals or clear their records. In some cases, this has been abused and there have been pay-for-pardons scandals. The opposite is also true. A recent two-term Southern governor, who was quite the holy roller and spent most of his time trying to ban abortions, did not pardon anyone. He showed himself to be quite the hypocrite: an outspoken Christian who refused to practice forgiveness.

  14. In one of my many college gigs, I worked for a company that erected different prefabricated buildings. It was like building Ikea furniture taken to the next level. My favorite was the redwood pavilion because they were always out in the country on a farm or a lake, and could be done in a day.
  15. Y'all remember the great hoarding of toilet paper back in 2020?
  16. There are few things more likely to inspire mass shootings than dealing with petty, officious bureaucrats. They may blame guns, but we know better. I swear to God, I think that make up random paperwork requirements just to piss me off.
  17. If there's a baby in your house, he's the boss. That's not because he's precocial. It's just how humans work.
  18. Many different plants are collectively called phlox. There are perennial and annual versions that are quite different. While some are delicate, others are quite hardy and are good as a showy ground cover for even hot and arid spots. Pictured is the perennial version that has been a staple in Mississippi gardens for generations. There is a light blue version that grows wild by the roadside in the South called Sweet William.
  19. I miss Dewey, and Drake was gone before I arrived, but I did get to read some of his stuff. There are many others who have passed or just dropped offline. The reason I came to GA was it seemed an island of stability.
  20. Wut could go wrong? DON'T ASK!
  21. There's nothing to writing a quatrain, Nostradamus wrote them by the score. As poems go, they are quite plain, Getting them to rhyme can be a chore.
