  1. Well... kicking their ass for no apparent reason makes an impression but I'm not sure it's the one you are going for. I dunno. I went theough a weird phase where I ending up fighting with my friends and then sleeping with them but I'm psyco that way. What you are looking for is common ground. Here is an example: kid a: Hey dude, I noticed you've got a Swissgear backpack. kid b: Yeah I like it. kid a: Well uh... what the hell is this thing for? Discussion of weird gadgets in a Swissgear backpack ensues that could last for hours. You see him wearing a t-shirt for a band [you don't hate]: kid a: Dude, I noticed that you are wearing the Black Parade t-shirt. Is it as good as their first album? Discussion of My Chemical Romance breaks out, pros and cons of the two albums, etc It can be as simple as that.

  5. Oh yes! Gift cards are good. I read that the top 5 most wanted gift cards are: 1. Best Buy 2. Wal-mart (no accounting for taste I suppose) 3. Amazon 4. E-bay 5. Borders ________________________________________________ Oh yes- I almost forgot! Please support Product Red A number of companies have designated a RED product or service and will donate to drug fund to fight AIDS in Africa. As of now, there is the Sprint Red Razor, Red Ipod Nano, Red American Express, Red Armani Watch, Red Converse shoes and Red Gap-ware. Keep your eyes open for new RED products! While AIDS has had a horrible impact on our own community, Africa is suffering horrific losses. Why not buy a product or service that you are going to use anyway and save a life or two?
  6. Hey guys! Christmas is Monday so you've only got 2, maybe 3 days left. Please post last minute gift ideas in this thread but no spam! I'm giving a number of people on my list secure storage boxes from Vaultz. They make a number of small, stylish secure boxes for media storage, index cards, art supplies, laptops and toolboxes. Most of the items are between $10-20 and they look sharp. Oh and they are tough as nails. Just an idea. Let's hear some more!
  7. I suppose the cats could give you conniptions. They calming down yet? Have you thought of biking to work or is it impractical?
  8. No, I haven't fallen off the earth. My Mom had surgery this morning. Nothing too serious but right now she is KOed for the next week. My Dad has advanced Parkingstons and has lost the use of his right hand so he needs a lot of help. At the moment, I'm carrying the ball for their household. Thinking back about some of the crap we've been through, I'm surprised that it worked out this way. For years we hated each other and called each other names, I never hit them but I got punched, they ignored me for years. Now Here we are. I have to ask myself why and the answer is that it's just the right thing to do. Why does it seem like it is easier to hold a grudge than it is to forgive and forget? It burns up a lot of energy carrying around that useless dead weight. Having dumped a lot of those old resentments, I know I'm stronger, more powerful person. Truth is so strange sometimes. Surrender to win? Forgiveness really is easier? The war is over. We can all go home if we can find the peace within; and understand that our rage is a waste of energy. I'll be busy but I'll try to get out another installment of SOS. Peace, JS
  9. OMG- that's wonderful! Thanks dude, I needed a laugh!
  10. Nick- You need some Rolling Stones in the that playlist!
  11. Well Nick- somebody decided to do something. Let's hope it doesn't back fire. French Jets strike targets in Dafur Region France admits air raids on Darfur neighbours By Alex Duval Smith Published: 15 December 2006 France yesterday defended recent fighter jet raids on towns bordering Sudan's Darfur region by claiming the aggressive action was aimed at preventing regional chaos. In the past two weeks, with minimal publicity, Mirage F1 jets have attacked and scattered a rebellion in north-eastern Central African Republic (CAR). But reports from the ground say the operation has had a devastating impact on civilians. A French Defence Ministry spokesman said the action - which included regular Mirage sorties in neighbouring Chad where tens of thousands of refugees from Darfur are living - was in line with international calls to stabilise the region.
  12. From one of the anti-impotence drugs: In the event of an erection lasting more then four hours, seek medical attention immediatly. One would think that the partner of the guy with the four hour boner might need some attention too.
  13. Happy Birthday to a great editor and a good friend.
  14. I don't really care for or about religions per see. People can subscribe to any mythology, superstition or misguided notions they feel comfortable with. My problem is when believers in sky-god cults use their money and power to inflict their religion on everyone else- by this I mean restricting the civil rights of people who are on their sky-daddy's s**t list. At this point I will stop because I don't want to step in any political BS.

This member of your adoring public would gladly pay 7.50 to see the Ordinary Us, The Log Way or Desert Dropping in a theater. I promise I won't act like a hyper-nerd Star Wars fanboy. JS
  16. It's a special treat for my blog readers. Both of you.
  17. I think what you are looking for is Ethan Stoller's BKAB which appeared in the credits of V for Vendetta. In the version of the song that appeared in the movie, there were speeches by Malcolm X ("On Black Power" ) and Gloria Steinem (Address to American Women). Currently the rights to this song are in limbo and you can only get a copy of the "speechless" version of the song that you can hear streaming here at Ethan Stoller's MySpace page. The copy of MKAB w/the speeches by Malcolm X and Steinhem only exists on the DVD of the movie and is not included on the soundtrack compilation for V for Vendetta. If anyone knows how to rip a song odd of DVD and turn it into an MP3, I would love to have a copy.
  18. Here's another funny, twisted video! 2006 was nugin futs!

Your work is of professional quality Dom. It is easily publishable and several of your stories would make strong screenplays. Take your break Dom. While you're at it, you might want to drive into the city and talk to a few agents. James
  20. This is a clip from the image in question. I have the galaxies marked. There are two spiral galaxies which are shaped like a whirlpool. Lenticular galaxies are shaped like a lens or football. Ellpitical galaxies range from round to and an ellipse. It's just rare that you'll see all of the main types on one image. The only two left out are irregular galaxies which are about 2% of the surveyed population and always end up irregular because a bigger galaxy ran over it. Low Surface Brightness galaxies are any kind of galaxy with a total luminosity below a certian threshold. LSBs can be of any shape, they are just very hard to see and are best viewed in the infra-red.
  21. If you aren't familiar with the Astronomy Picture of the Day, now would be a real good time to check it out. Todays image, Monday Dec. 11, is one of the best in quite a while. Today's subject is a ghostly nebulea call the Witch-head or IC 2118. If you click on the APOD image, it will load a much higher resolution image. Hello wallpaper! What makes this image special is that not only is the nebulea and star cluster beautiful, in the background you can see all sorts of galaxies: ellipticals, lenticulars and spirals- oh my! The Astronomy Picture of the Day has been going on since ~ 1995 and has a place on many peoples favorites lists. I've gone through them all but hey- I'm nerdy that way.
  22. Hello Kitty thongs? That's just wrong.
  23. I think screwing Jeff H in the winter of '83 has to be in the top 10. sigh. I think I'll have a smoke now.
  24. Or is it a blessing? I understand that the Chinese word for disaster also means opportunity. There is something really trippy about that.
  25. That is one of those questions that the fates may make you regret having asked. I once asked what else could go wrong and found out that I didn't really want to know.
