Dean Warner Intrigues - 4. July 4th

Chapter 4 July 4th

Eventually, the police tape was taken down and a moving van came and emptied the house next door. The shot out window was replaced and the door which the SWAT team had kicked in was also replaced and cleaners came and cleaned the house. A for sale sign was posted on the lawn. Naturally, in their small town, everyone knew that a murder had taken place there and the property sat.

On the fourth Dean and Debbie went to see the fireworks display out at the lake in the county park behind their house. It was a good hike and coming back would be at night so they drove around like everybody else. There was quite a crowd and the neighbors sat together. Sean Connor was there and he had brought a cooler filled with refreshments including beer and soda and he insisted that the neighbors from Ash Street help themselves which they did. The fireworks were special and after the finale, Dean helped Sean carry the cooler back to his truck. He told his mom, that he would get a ride home with Sean as they had parked in a different part of the lot.

On the ride back to Ash street Dean asked Sean how he knew he was gay. Sean about lost control of the truck and looked at Dean and gave a low whistle. He then replied in a carefully neutral tone of voice. “I always knew I was gay. My dad's younger brother was single and never married and lived with my grandparents until they passed. I look just like he did. My dad told me it was alright when I was 10 years old, that I was just born this way and I should just accept it. I asked him about his brother Danny and he told me that I was just like him. Always curious about men and their dangling bits. I went and stayed with my uncle Danny the summer I was 14 and fell in love with an older man for the first time. I seduced him and he was powerless to resist me. I took full advantage of him and I don't regret any of it. Uncle Danny was also a bit of drunk and when I was 15 he crashed his car into a tree at over 50 m.p.h and died. It was the first of some really sad days for me.”

Sean pulled into his driveway and turned to Dean and continued, “if you have any questions Dean, I will always answer them as well as I know how. I will never judge you, condem you or laugh at you. You have to sort out your own feelings and decide what is right for you. I will help in any way that I can, but I cannot decide anything for you or provide you with any magic to make something go away that is part of you.” Sean reached over and patted Dean on the shoulder and said “goodnight.”

Dean got out of the truck and trudged across the street. He had no answers but knew that ever since he started sucking his own cock which he now did regularly, that he wanted to try someone else's.

At work the next day he was paged to come to the front desk and met a FedEX man there who handed him a large legal sized envelope and asked him to sign for it which he did. He took it back to the break room and opened it and was astonished to find out that he was to appear on Monday July 9 at 9:00 am at the law offices of Trask and Fitchley which was just across the street from the courthouse for the reading of the Last Will and Testament of Mr. Bruno Weiss. He took the letter out to his car and locked it and went back to work.

His mom was off work that that day and had sent the FedEx deliveryman to Dean's store. When he got home, he went in and found his mom sitting on the couch in the family room watching television. He leaned down and hugged and dropped the envelope in her hands as he went into the kitchen for his supper. In seconds she was racing behind him, letter in hand, excitedly asking: “What does this mean?”

Just what it says, I am to bring this letter to the law offices of Trask and Fitchley next Monday at 9:00 a.m. I guess we will find out then what it is all about.” Dean took out his supper and popped the plate of roast beef with mashed potatos and gravy and green beans into the microwave for his normal 9:00 p.m. supper. His mom shrugged her shoulders and returned to her watch the rerun on television.

After his shower, Dean climbed into bed and promptly threw his legs over his head and started sucking his cock. He had gotten better and didn't cum so quick anymore and could prolong the wonderful feelings for a longer period of time. He fantasized about finding a soulmate who also liked to suck cock and sucking each other off in the sixty-nine position. His porno viewing had strayed to the gay side and he particularly enjoyed watching hot young studs who were well endowed chowing down on each other. He never tired of the taste of his own cum but craved to find out what someone else tasted like. At that thought his passion welled up and he suddenly tasted himself again as he jizzed and shot several times down his own throat and swallowed almost convulsively.

His mind wandered back to lawyers and the reading of the Will and he wondered why he was invited. He remembered the detective had told him that Mr. Weiss had parents and siblings, so wondered why he was mentioned in the Will. He must have been remembered somehow and speculated on what it could mean. His mom and he were comfortable in their small two bedroom house. It had a single car attached garage but a double wide driveway so his car was parked without blocking his mom's. His mom had paid the house off after settling her parent's also modest estate, but they had always lived somewhat frugally and did not waste money. He knew his mom was the head night nurse at the nursing home where she worked and that she had a lot of responsibility, but did not know exactly what she earned. She had encouraged him to get the part-time job at Kroger so he could pay the upkeep and insurance on his car and have a little extra spending money.

He was glad he was working a full schedule this week as some of the full-time regulars were on vacation on account of the holiday, because he hoped it would help the time go by faster.

Or so he thought. Friday was the day from hell at the store. The manager was in a bitchy mood because he had let too many people take off and he was short-handed. They pulled Dean from produce and put him on a cash register even though he was only minimally trained and not that proficient. Accordingly, he was slow and so were a couple of the others pressed into that duty and the lines were long all evening. He was asked to stay past his normal eight o'clock quitting time and worked until half past nine. He was tired, hungry and a bit cranky himself when he arrived home to an empty house as Friday was not one of his mom's days off. She was off on Tuesday and Thursday only and worked the other five days from six in the evening until three in the morning. He had told her not to fix him anything as he would stop on his way home, but in the rush and working late he forgot and came straight home. He decided to shower and change and go out to Mickey D's.

As he was leaving his house and walking to his car, he noticed that Sean was sitting on his front porch, even though it was after ten at night. He had his porch light on and was sitting in the glider that his mom used to sit in on hot summer nights. Sean called out to Dean and asked where he was going? Sean watched everything in the neighborhood and knew that Dean seldom went out late on a Friday night and pretty much seemed to lead a fairly solitary life. Dean told him he was going to get something to eat and Sean invited him over for some leftover barbecue as he had cooked up a couple of slabs of ribs and had plenty left over.

Dean had tasted Sean's ribs before and his mouth started watering as he found himself walking over to Sean's house. The went inside and Sean warmed some up and had a plate piled with ribs, corn on the cob and steak fries in front of Dean within fifteen minutes. He also placed a bottle of Bud Light in front of him and took one for himself. He told Dean, you will be twenty-one in November and you are not driving tonight so enjoy it. Dean plowed into the food with gusto and drank the beer and got another one too. He finished the plate, pushed it back, drained the second bottle of beer and belched.

Damn that was good Sean, I really enjoyed that after a long day.” Dean went on and told Sean about the hectic day at work and then told him about the letter he got from the lawyers for Mr. Weiss and how surprised he was. Sean looked at Dean and told him, “well I am not surprised. Bruno always told me you were the most polite kid on the block and never gave him any trouble. You might remember there were several years where his windows were soaped and his yard, trees and shrubs were strung with toilet paper all because he didn't give out candy on Halloween?”

Yeah, I remember that, I also remember the last time it happened that I got into trouble for ratting out the kids who did it to my mom as she called their moms who made the guilty parties come clean up the mess.” Dean sat back and remembered it was when he was in seventh grade and was starting to get really upset with how unfair it was that the neighborhood bullies got away with it. Of course after that he was ostracized by the older kids on the block, but between his mom and Mr. Connor and the others, he was watched fairly closely and was never outright bullied. Those kids were all older and in highschool so he didn't have to deal with them at school.

Sean then asked Dean if he had come to any resolution of the questions he asked on the night of the fourth of July. Dean gave Sean a sly look and replied, “well I figure I am gay friendly. Know any cute gay boys my age?” Sean broke out in a campy sort of laugh and said: “Sugar if I find one, I will send him your way!” They talked about odds and ends for another half an hour and then Dean yawned and excused himself and went home to bed.

He stripped and climbed into bed and didn't even think about getting off but went right to sleep. On Saturday he slept late on purpose. He didn't want to get up and possibly wake up his mom who didn't get to bed before three-thirty in the morning. At eleven he got up and stretched and slipped on some shorts and a tee and went into the kitchen to have a bowl of cereal. He made coffee first and then decided to also get the toaster out and have some toast too. He grabbed a bananna and sliced it over his corn flakes and enjoyed his cereal while the coffee brewed. He pushed the lever on the toaster down when the coffee finished and got a cup and the creamer and butter out of the fridge. He sipped his coffee, buttered his toast when it was done and ate it.

His mom came out a little later and said “I smell coffee, I hope you made a full pot.” Dean replied that he did and also had gotten out the toaster. She poured herself a cup and put in some creamer and asked Dean to toast a couple of slices of bread for her too which he did. They talked about the ordinary things going on in their life and how work was going. Dean told her all about his hectic night and getting home late, forgetting to stop for his supper and going over to Sean's when he offered barbecued ribs. She smiled and indicated he was a good cook. She then asked Dean if he talked to Sean about being gay?

Dean felt his stomach lurch and thought it was going to drop right through the planet. He looked at his mother with alarm and she smiled as she said: “You don't have to talk about it if you are not ready, but you are my only child and I love you dearly and I want you to know you can tell me anything and my love will not change.”

Dean really didn't want to talk about this with his mom and excused himself and went to his room which he decided to clean and change the linen.

I was wondering where you were going with Dean and Sean. I like them as friends with Sean being an older brother kind of mentor. Oh Mom knows? :o But she sounds really cool and it looks like she's open minded! :D

Did your mom know before you said anything? Of course, Dean's mom does have a talkative gay neighbor.....

I feel sorry for Dean now, no father, no friends of his own age. He is lucky to have a lovely mum and Sean. Hopefully he´ll find cute gay boy his age with or without Sean´s help. Wonder what the will has in it for him.

Ohhh embarassing - but sometimes parents have to bring up the subject to help their kid. I like Sean a lot, it's nice to have a portrait of an older gay man who's kind and helpful and not some awful predator.

I tried to make Sean real. I am glad you like him.

Before I read that last bit, I was thinking that Dean is an innately good person. He didn't tell on the bullies because he was a tattle tale, but because he saw the wrongness of what they were doing. His being included in the will is proof of Mr. Weiss' appreciation of his actions.
His mother's previous interactions with him and her complete acceptance that he is gay are a good indication that his goodness is inherited.
I like the description of the comraderie and sense of community that is prevalent on Ash Street. Reminds me of my childhood when the kids on my block (about 10 of us give or take) would play hide and seek with the entire block as our playground. The neighbours without kids were totally cool with us using their yards (no fences to keep us out) to hide out.

Small town Indiana still has many of those neighborhood traits that were more common years ago. Thanks for reading and sharing.

Yeah, I think most guys feel that talking about sex with your mom is uncomfortable.

Thanks for reading and reviewing.

This is my first read of your story and I am liking it so far.  I really like Sean. He seems like a neat person and totally safe for younger people to be with. Mom is also a good soul, but dropping that bombshell so casually might give Dean the heebee jeebees for a while. I think there is more afoot with the will and see many possibilities, not all good, with being included in the will....

Dean's mom is AMAZING. Sean seems like he's gonna be a great person to help Dean navigate his sexuality and not take advantage of him.

Sooo loving these characters so far.

She has been there for him and for the most part raised him on her own.
