Poetry - 5. If I ever lived again

I am no musician, but when I was writing chapter 11 of "The Icarus Operative", I felt the need for a soft country ballad for a specific sequence. I decided I needed to write that paticular country ballad and this 'poem' is basically the result. Hope you like it.

If I ever lived again

I would be with you again.

Even if you didn't know me,

even if you didn't love me,

even if I had to buy your love for me.

 

If I ever lived again

I would be with you again,

I would break into your heart,

I would even fall apart,

even if I had to tear the sky for you.

 

Will I ever live again?

That is something I don't know,

Will I be with you again?

That is something time will show

I wish I could live again so I'd be with you again.

I would love to hear this song performed with music. At first I was a little disorientated by all the refrain of words like 'again' and 'me,' but you convinced me, and how! These phrases can come alive in music, and the beauty of song is that each repeat of the exact same expression can be different – one time soft and longing, the next strong and insistent.

 

I love this. Well done!

It's true, te repetition has to do with that 'country' feel I wanted to give it. I'm glad you liked it! I wold also love to have someone write the music for it!
