Poetry - 2. Popol Vuh

This is a poem I wrote some years ago for a guy I loved so much it hurt. The original I wrote in Spanish and I'm translating for those who want to read my poetry. Hope you like it! I want to dedicate it to AC Benus and Mikiesboy, who have been encouraging me to do this. I'm also adding the original version.
Invent me again,
tear me to pieces
turn me into ashes
and create out of my soul
a new heart and a new me ...
Invent me again
and with your hands
turn me into a dream
and unwind my soul
to thread me again at your own will ....
Tear me apart,
break my existence
into rags of old absence
and put my pieces back together ....
Give birth to a new being
and give him the albus breath of life ....
Invent me again
to be yours ....

***************************

Invéntame otra vez,
hazme pedazos ....
Conivérteme en cenizas
y concibe de mi
un nuevo corazón y un nuevo yo ....
Invéntame otra vez
y entre tus manos
conviérteme en un sueño
y deshebra mi ser
para enhebrarme nuevo a tu capricho ....
Desgájame,
destroza mi existencia
en jirones añejos de ausencia
y junta mis pedazos
para armarme de nuevo ....
Columbra un nuevo ser
y dale el albo soplo de existencia ....
Invéntame otra vez
para ser tuyo ....

I cannot attempt to reply in Spanish; but this is a magnificent poem. I thank you for the translation. It retains its visceral, vital character, and reaches out to take hold of the reader. How could this man note love you in return?

Thanks a lot Parker! I do think love is a rather strange thing, and sometimes we just don't realize that there are times in which, no matter how hard we try, we'll never be enough for someone.

Hey Roberto. Wow, very strong but for me anyway, it made me sad. It made me feel like you didn't think or this guy told you, you weren't good enough and that you had to keep reinventing yourself or he did, to make you how he thought you should be.

Just my take on it. I'm glad you're posting some poetry. It's good for you!!

Look forward to more.

Your take on it is very accurate Tim. It goes back to a time in which my self-esteem was not in the proper place and I try hard to be loved back. Thank god I'm not there anymore, but it did make me write some of my best poems. Thanks for your words my friend!

I'm playing catch up, so I'm sorry this review is a bit tardy.

There is something so primal and powerful about refrain in poetry, and here, Invéntame otra vez hits me hard every time it repeats. I love that.

As far as the emotions and sentiment in the poem, I think I can understand it. Maybe it's an anxiety borne within LGBT people (especially of our age) that we are not going to be good enough because we are Gay. Here the poet is entreating the beloved to realize that if he could be putty in the loved-one's hands, he could remake you anyway he wanted.

That's sad and that's beautiful. Thank you for posting this wonderful poem, and I hope we see more of your Spanish verse :)

AC I'm speechless. Your words are so flattering! Coming from an established and excellent writer whom I also happen to admire,it's just awesome

Hey roberto...

I really liked the poem...but I also felt an underlying sadness (it might be just me, I don't wanna assume things)

I m pretty young to be saying this, n really sorry if I hurt u in any way, but I think that if a person thinks you're not good enough to be loved then I think that person isn't good enough to receive your love!

You are good enough as you are!!:)

Heart touching poem...beautiful!
