Poetry - 3. In pursuit / En pos

Long time ago, when 19, I fell in love with a piano player who was unfortunately straight. For him I wrote a series of poems and I'm sharing this one with you. I'm also attaching the original version in spanish.

If souls could,

only for a moment,

detach from their bodies

and dance a timeless waltz,

mine would surely sail

in pursuit of yours

forever and ever,

dancing endlessly

in shadows ....

Spinning, forever,

trapped in the notes

of a wild sonatina,

engulfed in the spell

of your silken hands,

submerged in my desire

for your twilight being ....

***************

Si las almas pudieran,

por un momento,

separarse de los cuerpos

y bailar un eterno vals,

es seguro que la mía

navegaría

en pos de la tuya,

por los siglos de los siglos,

danzando eternamente

entre sombras ....

Girando, para siempre,

en las notas

de una sonatina salvaje,

envuelta en el hechizo

de tus manos de seda,

envuelta en el deseo

de tu ser crepuscular ....

This was beautiful.. Even though you were 19, I hope you never lost or ever lose the ardour which prompted the poem..

Hey Defiance! I think it's the other way around, the more I grow, the more passionate I become!

Las manos de seda... That is a beautiful image! Especially for a piano player. Unrequited love... I guess we've all been thee.

The English version is so beautiful I cannot imagine it's not the original! That's wonderful translation skill you are showing...

The images are all so dream-like; heart-aching, heart-breaking, but light as a feather. An amazing poem. Thank you for sharing it!
