Never Cry Wolf - 2. Days 8 to 14
VIII.
You’re never sleeping,
keeping vigil,
whispering, waiting,
until it’s finally your turn,
being me.
You?
IX. (poetry prompt 19)
I can’t sleep
You’ve moved on
I count sheep
You are gone
The mammals leap
And I’m in Bonn.
At least I got to keep the dog,
He is true,
Faithful too.
I feel blue.
Have no clue.
Damn, what to do?
I want some stew!
Tossing and turning in bed,
And fluffing the pillow.
Get out of my head!
The white curtains billow
Going to change them to red.
You!
Always you,
No more you!
Can’t be you,
Goodbye you!
Never liked red!
I’ll buy a bed.
X.
Good thing the world is black and white,
As well as only wrong or right,
Geez! How annoying would it be
If there were more than them and me?
Think there’d be something in the middle,
The whole, damn world became a riddle,
And all that freakish thinking stuff
Between my ears would have it rough.
Not used to being used in years,
Being confronted by my fears,
I’d have to step up to the plate,
I’d have to finally pull my weight,
Embrace Darwin’s variety,
a pick ‘n’ mix society.
XI.
Drifted out into the ocean,
swallowed by the waves, silvery fish great me,
tears are what surrounds me.
And despite how hopeless everything feels right now, I laugh.
Salt is life,
and am I not salt too?
XII.
Tiny white dots scattered over periwinkle-blue,
And pink cherry-blossom petals hide the green.
Fluffy feather piles dipped abruptly into dark grey goo,
quickly gusts of wind stir the flower carpet’s screen.
Then the thunderstorm is there – lightning-fast discharge,
The ugly demon is awoken, with its shadow large.
You,
Tame the darkness inside me
XIII.
Trendy, warm, chunky, soft, stretch cable knit slouchy beanie cap hat,
Chef works, chat chef hat,
Silverado men’s crushable wool felt hat,
JF-Sunshine womens cotton ,wide brim, summer, outdoor, cycling, travelling, fishing, sun hat,
Too many modifiers in the ad make my head mad.
XIV.
Tuxedo waiters performing their dance,
Red wine shimmering in our glasses,
I watch as the sommelier passes
while secretly risking a glance.
Searching eyes and smiling faces,
Perfume mixed with the scent of food,
They pretend to be in a good mood,
while silently covering all their bases.
Dessert is served, I chose rhubarb eton mess,
You ordered almond apple pie,
I feel your warm hand on my thigh,
Soon we will be out of here . Yes!
