Poetry by Renee - 12. For Baby J

Couldn't come up with another title, but since my task was to write a poem to Baby J, I figured this title worked.

Fear and hope do battle

Each struggles to prevail

The future stretches before me

The winner remains unclear

The world can be a scary place

So many dangers to behold

How will I ever keep you safe

When so many things can go wrong

The birds are chirping around me

The sky is bright and clear

Is this a sign of things to come

Or the calm before the storm

We’ve wanted you forever

It feels too good to be true

That now you move within me

Your heartbeat strong and sure

It won’t be that much longer

Before we hold you in our arms

You’ll no longer be inside me

But you’ll never leave my heart

We’ll do our best to protect you

Keep you safe from harm

But let you make your own mistakes

And catch you when you fall

We’ll be your light in the darkness

Your strength when you feel weak

Just be who you are meant to be

And know you’ll always be our son

you took on the task and made a powerful poem. It's full of honest emotion - fear, hope, anxiety, love. I can tell you wrote it from your heart. Definitely a piece worth keeping and sharing with Baby J.

Thank you, Sir, for both the compliment and the task. We are considering tim's suggestion of printing it on nice paper and framing it for his bedroom.
